Latest Steam announcements

  • Patch 1.1.27 - 18 August 2026

Fixes an issue where shattered units were using half their strength points instead of just 1, as per the rules. Also updated the display when choosing units for combat to reflect that it's displaying the strength points, not the final ratio, since that depends on limits and whether or not a Distraction is used.

  • Patch 1.1.26 - 13 August 2026

This patch fixes a map error that had a hexside marked as a ravine when it was just a slope. It also fixes an AI bug that was found at the same time, in which a dragoon was the preferred combat lead unit, but was prohibited to advance because of the mistaken ravine hexside. The fix will automatically go to the next best lead unit in cases like this.

  • Cav withdrawal bug fix - 26 July 2026

This patch fixes a bug that would let the player get stuck by choosing a cav withdrawal when none was possible. The game will now skip the choice and inform the player if there is no possible withdrawal path. Additionally, once a player has chosen to withdraw, they will have the option to undo that choice if they wish.

  • Tutorial fixes, camera change and clarification for dragging windows - 23 June 2026

This patch fixes some typos in the tutorials, changes the camera positioning when clicking the "View" button while reviewing close combats to take the combat to the center of the screen, and adds a four-way arrow icon to the tab at the top of dialogs that is intended to be used to drag the windows on the screen.

  • von Riedesel rules fix - 30 May 2026

This update fixes a rule misinterpretation in which von Riedesel could not share a hex with a British general. While von Riedesel cannot share a hex with non-German units, he can share a hex with a British general.

  • Patch 1.1.22 Bug fix for second turn fog - 16 March 2026

This patch fixes a bug in the Campaign and Next Day scenarios in which if Clear skies are rolled for the first turn, there should not be a fog roll on the second turn.

  • Notes for Path 1.1.21 - 12 March 2026

This patch fixes an AI bug that could in rare instances cause the AI to fail to declare attacks when a rifle unit had the option to participate in the attack. This patch also includes a new UI feature in the score breakdown to present "trays" of captured and eliminated markers that make up the score. Additionally, markers that contribute to the score due to being reduced are displayed, but can be distinguished from the captured and eliminated markers thanks to banners added to those.

  • Fix for fog die roll - 7 March 2026

This patch fixes a bug wherein the fog die roll wouldn't return a Clear result.

  • Version 1.1.19 Update - 5 February 2026

First, the UI improvements:During the Movement phase, there is now a "Next Unit" dialog in the lower left similar to the one used to cycle through artillery units during Artillery Defensive Fire.Garrisons are more clearly highlightedUnder Settings, players can choose to use the original stylized font on markers if they preferAlso under Settings, players can choose to skip the Tactics Cards selection when playing both sides of a combat. The result will always be a 0 modifier to the attack.Previously, the game would highlight potential moves for the Americans that would move units outside of Bemis heights before Gates was released. This has been fixed. Some text corrections were made in the close combat tutorials. The AI should now be much better at protecting artillery and leaders. During an advance after combat, the AI won't leave an artillery unit behind if it's possible to keep a combat…

  • Ranged Fire Bug Fix and Font Change - 21 January 2026

While playing a test game against the AI I noticed that Morgan was able to fire, even though he was Disrupted at the time. Checking the rules, I confirmed that this was a bug - only parade order units can fire. This update fixes that bug.I also changed the font for the unit markers, the help system, and the tutorials to one that is less stylized, but easier to read. Please let me know if you find it helpful, or if you prefer the original font. I've gotten reports from multiple players that they were having difficulty reading the markers, so I wanted to put this change in now. Eventually, I may have a setting that allows the player to change the font/size for most of the UI, but hopefully this will help some players right away.

  • Close Combat UI Improvements - 13 January 2026

This update hopefully fixes an issue wherein some players got stuck trying to define their close combats. While I was never able to completely reproduce what the players described, I did find two bugs that could cause the key cycling of units to stop working, and the stack marker (the small grey button in a hex) to display the dialog below the close combat list, making it difficult to find.In this update, the stack marker dialog displays on top of the close combat list, and the close combat list has a "Show/Hide Detailed View" button for the attacker that will expand the close combat list to display all potential attackers on the left, and all potential defender hexes on the right. Each attacker unit has a checkbox to make it easy to select individual units, or the hex itself has a checkbox that can be clicked to choose all attacking units in the hex. Defending hexes have a single check…

  • Bug Fixes and UI Improvements - 3 January 2026

This update fixes a bug that did not cause shattered units to be captured if they were adjacent to enemy units after a combat phase and not in a stack with friendly units. The update also fixes a bug that would sometimes allow a unit to move into a river hex.The update has the UI skip the defensive artillery fire phase automatically if the player has no artillery units, as for the Americans in the Freeman's Farm scenario.

  • Bug Fixes, AI and UI Improvements - 29 December 2025

This update includes an additional fix for a bug in which Burgoyne being replaced by Hamilton would cause the game to get stuck. Changes the order of unit rallies so that units with the highest chances of success are resolved first, in case a successful rally would increase the Army morale and improve the chances of later unit rallies.Added ability to click on the reinforcements circle in the turn track to see which units are coming in as reinforcements.Fixed an AI bug that would cause the AI to get stuck if von Riedesel and a British unit both wanted to advance into a hex after a successful attack.Fixed an AI bug for the Americans in the Campaign scenario that caused them to stop advancing at all after turn 3.AI improvement to make better choices about attacking.

  • Bug Fixes, AI and UI Improvements - 27 December 2025

This update includes a fix for a bug in which Burgoyne would sometimes not be replaced by Hamilton, particularly when Burgoyne was killed by an advance after combat. This update also respects the option for following the opponent's unit movement setting when in multiplayer games. There is now a pause when your opponent uses momentum to force a reroll, with a dialog that must be clicked to continue. Previously, it was easy to get confused and not realize a second roll had happened. This update fixes a rare retreat bug that would sometimes allow users to go in the wrong direction even when there was a valid retreat path in the "correct" direction. Some minor UI improvements, mainly when moving a unit into a hex with a lone enemy leader, you can click on the enemy leader to make it clear you want to move into that hex. Normally, clicking an enemy unit has no effect during movement, since you…

  • Bug Fixes, AI and UI Improvements - 22 December 2025

This update includes some user interface changes requested by users as well as several small bug fixes:The biggest user interface change is that the camera following your opponent's unit moves is now optional, controlled in Settings, and off by default. Multiple users reported that the movement was distracting, so while it's still an option, it will be off unless you turn it on.Fixed a bug that didn't report Army Morale loss when moving a pinned unit.Fixed a bug that prevented Von Riedesel from moving through British units even when it should be possible.Fixed an AI issue that caused some units to get stuck at hex 1124 in the Campaign scenario.Fixed some captions errors in the Rifle Phase.Moved the units stack marker so that it's less likely to be covered by other unit stacks.

  • Bug Fixes, AI and UI Improvements - 16 December 2025

This update fixes several small bugs:Control of victory hex could be flipped by a leader or artilleryVon Riedesel might attempt to stack with British in advance after combatAdvance after combat could cause a unit to cross the Bemis lineProjected movement sometimes extended unit's distance too farIn multiplayer, if a player had chosen a tactics card but not confirmed it, when the other player confirmed their card it could switch the selection back to the default.Added an Autosave option when starting a game. Games are saved at the start of each movement phase.Added a dialog with the full Army Morale information chart. When playing against the AI, the AI's moves are now highlighted and followed by the camera

  • Bug Fixes and UI Improvements - 14 December 2025

Fixes a bug that didn't capture leaders if a combat result was R/R and a non-lead unit advanced into the hex. Improved the lines drawn to indicate rifle and defensive artillery fire.Add a hotkey ("U") to hide the user interface for players who would like to explore the map with minimal clutter.Fixed some typos in the tutorials, and fixed an issue where some hexes in the tutorials were not being highlighted.

  • User Interface and AI Improvements - 11 December 2025

Fixes a bug that caused units that were force to retreat during Rifle or Artillery fire phases to have 0 strength points in close combat.Fixed an issue where using the Hide Units toggle would cause the key to no longer cycle through units in a stack.Better outline for colors in Tactics Cards dialog.AI will be a bit smarter about attacking lone artillery units - it won't send multiple units after the same artillery piece any longer.AI will do a better job when moving to engage an enemy. It should make better decisions about when to move, and when it does so, it should try to make sure it has an advantage.During the Defensive Artillery Fire phase, artillery units will be moved to the top of the stacks automatically, and as you cycle through your artillery, you should see a highlighted border on the hex that contains the artillery.

  • AI Improvements - 8 December 2025

If tactics cards resulted in a No Combat result, there were some scenarios that would freeze the AI. This update should remedy - if anyone encounters that sort of issue, please send me your saved game. It really helps.Other improvements include a better path choice for the AI and for the player when they use extended movement. The game should choose a more direct path each time. Finally, a bug fix in the AI in which it might choose a retreat path that required a step loss, even when there were other choices available.

  • Bug Fix for Rare AI Lockup, Improvements to Tactics Selections by AI - 8 December 2025

If a combat resulted in a captured unit, with multiple morale checks afterwards, it was possible for the game to get stuck in an invalid state. I know of this happening at least twice. This update should remedy this issue. This update also includes adding Morgan's star to indicate that he is a demi-leader, and improvements to the AI's selection of tactics chits during close combat.
