Greetings Divers! We’ve dropped a hotfix for the Localization update fixing the frequency plaque, thanks to ALeKS_K45 on the Localization forums for pointing that out! The translation implementations should be pretty good from here on out but if you notice anything we would really appreciate you pointing it out on the Localization Forums linked below and we'll fix it ASAP :) https://steamcommunity.com/app/3726370/discussions/1/ Thanks to everyone who has explored the new translations, we hope to be able to bring you more languages soon! :) Cheers! /Toby

Once a translation is ready we make sure to implement it as fast as we can!…
- Soundtrack Available Now! - 26 August 2026
Greetings Divers! Can you hear it? The thunderous roars of distorted guitars, the earth shattering pounding of drums or the bone rattling rumblings from a detuned bass? It’s the Heavy Metal Death Can Soundtrack AVAILABLE NOW on Steam, Bandcamp or streaming services! Whether you want to break something to the Sludgeborg boss music or relax to the Save Room Theme (Stack of Tapes) the album is a chronicle of your and the Diver’s journey through HMS Domherren. The fact that people have been asking for this is extremely touching to a somehow washed-up-without-having-made-it musician like myself and now it’s out there and I sincerely hope you enjoy it. And as an extra treat, somehow by popular demand, I’ve also put together a 10 hour version of the Saveroom Theme, in case you REALLY need to wind down. Cheers! /Toby https://store.steampowered.com/app/5059860/Heavy_Metal_Death_Can_Soundtrack/ h…

- Mac and Linux Launches Event! - 10 July 2026
Greetings Divers! Today is the day Heavy Metal Death Can launches on Mac and Linux! This is a big moment for us as we want our games to be available on as many platforms as we reasonably can and expanding to the main three PC OS's is a big step towards that goal. And the experience is really good! We developed the game 50/50 on Desktops using Windows and laptops using MacOS and Linux so we knew the content would present as expected but it’s really gratifying to have proper apps now!Known issues:We had trouble getting UI navigation to function smoothly on Mac so we’ve limited UI navigation to the D-Pad for that version.Switch style controllers can show the wrong button prompts. This is because Steam input will trick the game that it's using XBOX A (South) while the controller is actually using Nintendo A which is East. This can be remedied in the controller settings in Steam. Controllers…
- Crowdin and Additional Hardware support incoming - 26 June 2026
Greetings Divers! I hope you’re well and that you’ve enjoyed the cheats we added to the game last week (Golden KLAS for unga bunga). I wanted to give you an update on what we’re working on now. This week Fredrik’s gotten the game running on Mac and Linux Mint natively! We’ll be doing additional playtesting but initial testing has been very promising :)This week HMDC also became Steam Deck Verified! Steam Deck was always a big priority for us so getting this validation means a lot!Next week I'll get back in the studio to wrap up the OST! I don't have an ETA except for this summer for sure! Regarding Localization we’ve been in talks with multiple translation agencies but those services are simply out of our budget as a two person studio making a niche game. And AI is out of the question, we’ve gotten this far without it and we’re not gonna start using it now. After talking to friends in th…
- Patch 1.04 Deployed! - 19 June 2026
Greetings Divers! Today it's Midsummer Eve here in Sweden and to celebrate we wanted to release a new patch, 1.04! The focus for this patch has been adding ways for players to tailor their Heavy Metal Death Can experience in multiple ways. We've added difficulty modes for players who want a less unforgiving experience as well as those of you who are looking for a real challenge. These are chosen upon starting a new game but can be changed at any time in the options menu. We've also added a lot of bonus options that are unlocked upon beating the game once. These include cheats to play around with but most importantly two Item Randomizing modes! One mode excludes key-items making a run more predictable in terms of progression, the other one is full random and that is just all kinds of chaos. Note that while we've tested it a fair bit full-random is still kind of experimental, there might…
- Thank you for these first two weeks! - 12 June 2026
Greetings Divers! It's been two weeks since Heavy Metal Death Can left port but it feels like it's been longer than that. It has been our pleasure and privilege to bring this game to you, to our survival horror community and beyond. We've released three patches since launch addressing feedback and trying to make the game really solid and a lot of you have given us a second chance after your issues were fixed. There are a lot of great games out there, and the fact that you guys choose to spend your time with ours is a real honor. We wanted to make something honest and when people are vibing with your raw and true expression it feels like we've found our tribe, you know? I've put together a little compilation of choice moments from some of the first streamers who highlighted our little game. I watched these together with the team, terrified and excited to see some of the first reactions t…

- Minor Patch 1.03! - 6 June 2026
Greetings Divers! With patch 1.02 there managed to sneak aboard a couple of small bugs onto the ship which we wanted to sort out ASAP. So without further ado, here is the change log for v1.03. Fixed armorer calling the telephone in the Armory.Fixed an item despawn after second boss fight.Fixed map acting up when player is in Armory.Fixed a broken music cue.Special shout out to Discord member Mendacii for reporting a couple of these! Cheers! /Fredrik
- Patch 1.02 has been deployed! - 5 June 2026
Greetings Divers! Patch 1.02 has been deployed! With patch 1.01 we feel the general experience of exploring the HMS Domherren is pretty solid balancing-wise. Wherever you go throughout your adventure you’re likely to find something useful. However, the bosses lacked some of that polish. We had focused on making the intended way of beating them work well that we neglected some of the more basic UX of the fight making them obtuse and frustrating. With this patch we’ve addressed this, making sure that the bosses are legible and that they offer sufficient feedback. They’re still challenging but they’re way tighter and the player will have more opportunity to respond and participate. You can now also skip dialogues making replays and retrying the bosses less tedious. Some players are having issues with resources being too scarce. We addressed this by having the Armorer sometimes handing out fr…
- Patch spotted on the horizon, coming this Friday! - 3 June 2026
Greetings Divers! Heavy Metal Death Can has been out for almost a week and it's been a pleasure and a privilege to see the community embracing our little horror game. It is the studio's maiden voyage and it's been both heartwarming and harrowing watching streams and reading reviews of the game. We're a small team with limited bandwidth and the amount of feedback we've gotten this week has been incredible. It gives us a clear picture of the state of the game and what works and what doesn't for our players. We set out to make a game that was tough but fair, tuned so that players returning to the genre would feel adequately challenged, but we also wanted there to be an in for newer players by teaching them how these games are played. There are systems in place to make sure that players don't get left behind but they're too subtle and need tweaking. The bosses are also in need of tweaking. W…
- Patch 1.01 - 29 May 2026
Greetings Divers! Many thanks to everybody who got onboard the HMS Domherren yesterday for its maiden voyage! Here's the changelog for patch 1.01: Fixed collision that player could get stuck on.Tweaks and balancing to first boss.Fixed bug causing second boss to sometimes get stuck.Minor visual fixes, improve visual clarity in some key places.Fixed certain zombie attacks causing player to get stuck.Fixed navigation bug in load-game menu. And additional bug fixesWe're so happy and overwhelmed by the reception on the game, it means the world to us that the game, it's aesthetics and its characters is resonating with players and we want to make sure that you get the best Death Can experience possible! Hope you…

- 2000 Wishlists Update! - 26 October 2025
Good evening Submariners! Hope all is well! At Krufs Productions HQ we're keeping busy with the alpha, just wrapping up the first draft of the final boss of the game but since we just hit this milestone I thought an update would be fitting!Since last update we've put out a collection of short form making-of videos where I'm talking about art, audio and music production. I plan to make a couple more if I find the time, so any suggestions of something game dev related that you would want to see lemme know! Here's a link to a playlist with these videos: This summer I had the pleasure to be invited to the La Boveda Podcast to talk about the game and Survival Horror in general: One thing I mentioned in this interview is my view on melee weapons in Survival Horror and that we won't have any. Well, I'm happy to announce that we've backpedaled on that and have now developed a melee weapon that…
