- Early Access Release September 24th, 2026! - 5 September 2026
「 HIROTONFA's American Revolution Smuggler 」will release into Early Access this September 24th, 2026!With that in mind, the demo has been updated! Please wishlist the game and spread the word to friends, family, and enemies!Early Access Demo 1.0DESIGNGeorgia-chan has been redesigned.Added more sprites by Magnagallina.Better gamepad vs keyboard detection. Mouse cursor disappears when using gamepad.Demo shortened to a length of two weeks.Medium difficulty is the only difficulty for the demo.Red sky in the morning may or may not mean something now. Storm events are made more rare and more severe, as they now have a higher chance of forewarning. Some random sea events (positive and negative) like lootable shipwrecks better incentivize getting a Lookout Specialist.Lady Justice reminds players if they haven't taken a delivery job from the post office on the first day.Specialists move position…
- Alpha 2.7a - 15 July 2026
BUGFIXESSet VisuStella Message Core Plugin Settings > General Settings > Stretch Dimmed BG = False, in case this was interfering with GALV's related plugins on application startup.Added the Verbose Error Screen plugin by Arthran to help stack trace errors.Player no longer moves around while checking the world map from the menu.Different faction ships should have a closer-to-equal chance to spawn in-between regions.
- Alpha 2.7 - 11 July 2026
CREDITSAdded my wife, Magnagallina, to the credits as a game designer. On top of her amazing character design work (such as Patriot-chan's latest dialog sprites and full-on designs for Mr. Attorney & Shinnecock-chan), she's workshopped and tested countless gameplay ideas with me for months.DESIGNDr. Apetrots, voiced by the talented Johann the Butcher, has been added as a recruitable specialist! You have to meet some certain requirements before he sends you a letter.Stephenson the Lookout has been added, allowing earlier identification of ships during random encounters.Wanda the Navigator provides a doubling of rolls as you attempt to escape ships in aforementioned encounters, if needed.Merchant ships can sell the player a little cargo here and there again.BUGFIXESDumping cargo no longer counts as selling an item for purposes of calculating player-caused market crashes. This might still…
- Alpha 2.66a - 7 July 2026
DESIGNLoad Game command added to menu. That was actually easier than I thought it'd be.BUGFIXESRefusing to hand over sailors to be impressed leads into a sea battle as intended, not a fistfight.Faction ships that chase you on the sailing screen were disabled. There's something glitched out about them that cause them to continously assault the player in the middle of events, despite my best use of switches and checks. They have been moved to the general random encounter table, and have spawn rates depending on regional control.
- Alpha 2.66 - 6 July 2026
DESIGNMore dialog changes. Carolina twin tweaks.Fort musket selling simplified.Briny Baldrick refuses to set out on Fridays, like a true mariner.BUGFIXESLady Justice no longer confuses New Orleans for St. Augustine.
- Alpha 2.65c - 3 July 2026
DESIGNPorts on sailing map now have the full names of the associated state written out.Added skip choice for individual, long relationship event cutscenes.Fishing mini-game moved from New Hampshire to Maine.Raised tsukumogami magazine subscription rate for True Sea Dog difficulty.Dialog typo fixes and adjustments.Adjusted some music.
- Alpha 2.65b - 30 June 2026
DESIGNAdjusted rate of "healing" for player market-caused crashes. They should happen less often if selling over time instead of bulk. There still, however, appears to be a glitch where the market crashes after selling one item for the first time. Still looking into this.Port Customs fees automatically take payment without waiting for player input when giving the total.Dockmaster now mentions that procurement quests give wampum. His message is also shortened on return.BUGFIXES"Double-movement of pointer in cargo screen when dumping cargo."This one's been bizarre, but I believe it even though I can't trigger it - at least two players reported this. I checked the code to see if the pointer was moving based on a variable value that was overlapping with something else, but no, it's hardset to move by 36 pixels up or down. So I added a 5-frame wait to the start of movement code trees when a b…
- Alpha 2.65 - 29 June 2026
CREW RESTCrew and specialists now get tired if they don't rest or party in an inn. When tired, they'll start making mistakes. When very tired, they'll start to lose morale.Cost of staying in an inn depends on amount of current crew.DESIGNMost minigames can now only be worked at once-per-day.Marina's fishing loot pool has been rebalanced to be harder to get the more expensive cargo.Greyed out options during ship inspection encounters if you don't have access to them: dueling and fog bomb, mainly.MUSICSome of Bill Jobs' music has been added. You can find more of his amazing work at the following two links:https://billjobs.bandcamp.comhttps://soundcloud.com/billjobsIn general, I've been adding a in-game notifications for music track playing. It's not yet for all tracks, but a good chunk of the repeat ones.BUGFIXESCurrent version of Nova Scotia-chan loads in properly.Still having trouble wi…
- Alpha 2.64d - 25 June 2026
Merged experimental-build with the default branch.PERFORMANCEDowngraded NW.js to v0.80 and added code to hopefully make sure NWjs terminates fully when the application closes (see discussion post here for more info: https://steamcommunity.com/app/3789080/discussions/1/568164159307477108/).Please "Verify integrity of game files" (Right-click the game, go to Properties, Installed Files) to make sure the files are fully updated.DESIGNAdded two new sloop variants for sale.Hard mode gives most enemies +1 base Attack stat. Only works on a new save.Starting ship officially named as the Argo. I learned that it's pretty bad luck to rename a ship without some sort of mariner ritual that I have to perform more research into.Mariner tradition: Setting sail on a Friday is considered bad luck.Dockmaster's Procurement Quest shouldn't repeat the same good for two weeks in a row.Ship population reduces…
- Alpha 2.63 - Opt-In Beta for Ship Market - 21 June 2026
This build can be opted into under "Game Versions & Betas", marked as "experimental-build".SHIP BUYING, UPGRADE CHANGESUpgrade system reworked. You can buy and pilot different ship types (just the starting Pinnace and some Sloops in the demo). You can only upgrade each stat of a ship once, lost upon trade-in for another ship.Starting ship type renamed and redesigned as a Pinnace.Starting HP reduced to 15 HP.DESIGNRemoved the automatic crew size level up mechanic.Free debt payment wampum removed.Inn merchants offer less in quantity.More visual way of recruiting new crew.Trade ships have to be action-buttoned instead of just being run into. Most non-special port maps were all consolidated into one of two types: American Northern and American Southern. This makes it easier for me to make changes, but isn't polished at the moment.QUALITY-OF-LIFESea region identified at top.BUGFIXESPort blocka…
- Alpha 2.62 - 18 June 2026
DESIGNIt is easier to crash the market.Blockades clear out when regional faction control changes.Mr. Attorney is considered defeated for that week if the market rate at when he bought is lower than when he sells.Mr. Attorney takes longer to do his tasks.Wampum sell value is divided by \ player sold wampum.VOICEWORKNene Amano as Lady Justice!QUALITY-OF-LIFEMarket rate bulletin board tells you how much the item price has changed since yesterday.BUGFIXESBlockades shouldn't repeat.Loyalist-chan's voicelines don't show up where she isn't.
- Alpha 2.61b - 16 June 2026
DESIGNLess goods in stock if not the port's specialty.Mr. Attorney's effects perform gradual market trends instead of sudden kicks up or down.Player market crashes also have the gradual fall as well.Port Pilot encounter moved to a chance when leaving port instead of when entering.BUGFIXESShip upgrades at fort should work properly. A switch index ID was set to 2997 instead of 297.Mr. Attorney's ships stats show up properly.Quebec-chan typos and edits.
- Alpha 2.61a - Gradual Market Events - 13 June 2026
DESIGNMarket Events have been changed to affect market rates more gradually over the course of X days (hidden from the player). The chaotic feeling of not knowing exactly when and where to best sell should add some fun tension.Slightly more supplies spawn.Dutch Tulip Market minigame polish. Jadwiga also factors in your portfolio for weekly budget meetings.Procurement jobs now only give 1.5x payout.VOICEWORKMy good friend Joseph Keith Jr. as Victor Law. It will take some time to retroactively add his lines to appropriate spots! My other good friend Mitch as Humphred III.BUGFIXESPassengers should now spawn normally.Delivery jobs maybe fixed. I don't know. It's insane. Perth Amboy, New Jersey was removed as a destination port because it keeps breaking it. I don't know why.Horseracing minigame catch to prevent loop lockup.Emergency timer added for a "Fade In" to occur if the screen remains d…
- Demo 2.58 - 9 June 2026
DESIGNAnother GR8TREE song has been added to the playlist of standard encounter combat music.BUGFIXESVoices should no longer be assigned to characters other than the intended one.
- Demo 2.57 - 3 June 2026
DESIGNAdded postal destination message to Map when scrolling over the destination.Market rates for all cargo now fluctuate very slightly, daily, irrespective of market events. This is also rolled five times at the game's start, for a sprinkle of variance. Just feels nice.Market rate bulletin board is easier to read.Postal service pays you more if you have to travel to another region.Procurement Quest item quantity has been lowered. It will still rise as the months go on.Moved Items & Cargo to top of the menu.Edited socialization minigame dialog again, here and there.PERFORMANCE TWEAKSNWJS upgraded to v0.88.0, but this could lead to troubles and rollback. We will see. This may also prevent achievements, but frankly, I'll take better performance if it's a choice.package.json told to prioritize lower memory use, and the heap now has a limiter. This resets each time, so if I forget to edit…
- Demo 2.55 - 28 May 2026
DESIGNSped up combat dice rolls.Debt Collector comes at the end of the day, and now has a face.Difficulties renamed.
- Early Access Announcement and Roadmap [EDIT] - 27 May 2026
Hello all, I'd like to say up-front that my publisher (Ninth Exodus) and I (HIROTONFA) have made the decision to release the game into Early Access this September 2026.EARLY ACCESS ROADMAPEdit note: Early Access will release with four romance routes instead of the originally planned six. I unfortunately overestimated my own abilities, but want to make the choice for quality over quantity. As shown above, the game's campaign will be completable from intro to ending slides, Spring 1 to Winter... 30 or 31. Somewhere in that range, I think. The main things that would be missing would be specific romance routes and more events, for people who would prefer to wait for the 1.0 release next year.Best wishes, HIROTONFA
- Demo 2.54 - 26 May 2026
DESIGNMore fees, with local port authorities and customs officials both! Enjoy some taxation with representation, this time around. Also changed the term 'tariff', as what was actually being paid for the most part were local port duties (such as poundage). Almost every port levied these fees, revolutionary or loyalist.Decided to collaborate with the gambler's fallacy. The game gives bonuses to subsequent rolls during combat if the player keeps failing to achieved desirable outcomes. In the future, this might only be for easy mode. We'll see how it goes.If the ship hits 0 HP during a random event, a special death clip plays.VOICEWORKMs. Vanders is now voice-acted by Angel Steps! Angel Steps will also be providing some more voicework in the future, so stay excited for that!DATE SYSTEMStreamlined the dating system. From the \, you can invite available state-chans out on a date after giving…
- Demo 2.53 - 18 May 2026
DESIGNPort raids and piracy give less loot.Letter of Marque now costs 10,000p.You cannot get a new, opposing Letter of Marque without turning in the last one and paying 20,000p in total.Revamped the inspection system. Roll against the inspector's roll.Future bonuses to roll chances planned, such as upgrades giving flat bonuses.Tutorial ore quest given by default.Market Event Changes now look at how much of the market is down or up. If too many cargo rates are already down, the next change will attempt to go up, and vice versa.Ports can now level up from repeated daily visits. Higher levels means having a higher quantity of the port's specific export in stock.Enemy factions can now sack minor ports when winning a land battle.Horse Races now give a popup toast message when the race is halfway done.More lines added for Virginia-chan and New Jersey-line (special thanks to Sour Grape Sama).W…
- Demo 2.51 - Piracy - 10 May 2026
DESIGNPlunderable ships added.Merchant ships spawn less if the associated faction isn't in control of the local sea region, reflecting increased fear of pirate and privateer attacks.Confirmation to pay tariffs message is now instant text speed (was starting to annoy me, so it must also have been starting to annoy others.)BUGFIXESPatriot boycott event fixes (maybe).Base price of Lumber should no longer rise from 1p to 35,000p.
