- Hotfix 0.3.1 + Dev Blog - 3 September 2026
Hey all,We have seen some issues with updated 0.3 that we wanted to fix. Thank you all once again for reporting these issues and leaving feedback. The changes in this hotfix are:Fixed issue with tanks spawning inside terrain in the desert biomeInterrupting a fight between 2 or more AI will not longer cause all AI to target the playerChanged the names for T4 and T6 tank partsAdded a new sound effect to the radar ping to differentiate tanks from other markers/buildingsAs you know, update 0.3 was recently released which included a big upgrade to the terrain generation and spawning system. Because of those changes and because we've had some comments about tank spawning, we decided to put out a dev blog for any that are interested in the more technical parts of the game. That will be it for now, but look forward to the new big patch that we will be working on going forward: Warfare!- Landshi…
- Update 0.3 - 25 August 2026
Hey all, The Wasteland update is finally here. Some of the changes we had planned were released earlier as a smaller patch in 0.2.5 which focused mostly on gameplay and balance. Change list: -- Environment-- • New GPU based terrain system for faster terrain generation. • New biome: Desert• Improved visuals for all biomes, with new terrain, props and effects. • A rework of compounds to provide more of a challenge with a greater reward. • More compound variants. • New weather and lighting for each biome. • Hazardous storms that roll in every 10 minutes and affect heat generation. • Greatly expanded destruction system. Trees, buildings and many other objects are now destroyable. Shells can destroy or ricochet o…

- Update 0.2.5 - 21 May 2026
As we continue work on the Wasteland update, we have come to somewhat of a halfway point and decided we wanted to make a minor update in the meantime. There has been a lot of feedback about how damage works, especially about turrets feeling counterintuitive as a weak point, and we agree, which is why we have given them some more damage resistance across the board. This should change how the combat feels quite a lot, and we're hoping it will allow for much more strategy and skill expression. There have been a number of other changes too, which can be found below: Adjust swivel speeds and turn speeds Reduced swivel speed on heavier turrets at higher tiers Lowered turn speed on high tier hulls and tracks Rebalanced damage and armour values across the board Turret part takes less damage Gun part takes less damage Track parts take more damageSet minimum reload speed to be the same as minimum…

- BLOG: Upcoming saving system - 28 January 2026
For the next update (for which we still do not have a release date, but we're well on the way with) we will be introducing a new feature that I wanted to talk about a bit, just to let you all know it's coming. Due to requests for some kind of save system, we will be adding a checkpoint system to Tankenstein. You will be able to save your current run by finding garages in the world. These will return you to the main menu and save your current parts, CPUs and inventory. Progress in the run will also be saved, defeated bosses will not drop previously collected CPUs and the distance you traveled will be retained. You can resume your current run at your leisure. Your tank will be reconstructed in a new garage somewhere in the wasteland. The garage you emerge from will no longer be functional, and the distance you previously traveled will be the new minimum distance for the world, you will not…

- Demo 2.2 - 17 October 2025
Hey, First of all I'd like to thank you all who have played the game, especially if you filled out the survey or left feedback on discord. Following this feedback we decided to make another hotfix to the demo. We will be addressing a lot of the feedback in the long run but for now the 2 we wanted to focus on for this hotfix are the performance and the difficulty. The game is meant to and going to be challenging, however the demo does not have any of the tools the player will have in the full version to combat this challenge. We have decided to emulate some of the meta progression as an optional game mode for those wishing to try the game with a better start. We will be keeping the original start for those that want to first run experience, so it is up to you which you play with. (Note: this can be chosen at the start of every playthrough, so it is not a permanent decision)Other changes i…

In anticipation for Steam's next fest and as Tankenstein's development ramps up towards Early Access we decided to update the demo with some of the latest features we have been working on. We said we wouldn't update the demo any further, but a lot has changed since the original release and we no longer feel the old demo fully reflects the game as it will be in Early access.
