  • Second Generation - 20 September 2026

Beta Beta BetaI'm Danny Judas. If you have been poking around on Collect Call's store page, you may have noticed that the playtest registration button has reappeared. This is no mistake: the playtest will be returning on September 21st, 2026. This test will be something more akin to a public beta test, where substantially more systems have been implemented and will be available. With Precognition, back in July, I had tentatively promised a demo to come out in the Summer. While I have not been able to operate quickly enough to get the game polished for a demo, I have made considerable progress and feel reasonably comfortable offering up a new playtest for those willing to put up with some jank. The 21st happens to be the last day of Summer.Playtest GoalsThe test back in spring was always meant to be more of a 'proof-of-life' kind of deal. I wanted to show people that I was in fact working…

  • Precognition - 12 July 2026

The New ModelWhy, Hello.I'm Danny Judas. It's been just under three months since I've put out communication in this particular medium. I did release something of a post-mortem on the Alpha test to my Patreon back in May, but today's blog will be more of a look forward than a step back. Most notably, we're going to take a look at some of the changes that can be expected in the demo. Then, maybe we'll get into some juicy extremely tentative speculation about when it could maybe possibly potentially come out. Exciting.Firmware UpdateThe Alpha test was a highly stripped down take on Collect Call, focused exclusively on the core combat and Feng Shui mechanics. Even these elements were pretty light, with only eighteen or so Feng Shui items with extremely toned down effects. The combat was more involved with a good variety of cards and enemies spread across the first three factions of the main…

  • Alpha and Omega - 21 April 2026

End of LineWhy, hello. I'm Danny Judas. The time has come to close the open alpha playtest. The experience has been extremely valuable, and I hope the game has made a positive (if finicky) impression on those of you who have played it.If you haven't played it yet, you still have some time! The alpha will officially close on April 30th, and it will no longer be available to download or play. That gives you a cool Ten Days to give it a shot.Phase 3The main reason the alpha is ending is to make room for the upcoming demo. I am hoping for a June release. Though (as many of you probably know) I absolutely cannot be meaningfully held to release windows.I think the alpha has more or less run its course, as well. The past couple of months have been rather complicated for me and I have not been able to put out any major content updates, I was hoping to implement some of the more major systems I h…

  • Phase Two - 24 January 2026

The Ground BreakingHello, I'm Danny Judas. I am pleased (and a little nervous) to announce that the Steam playtest is now available for all to experiment with. It took a bit longer than I hoped to get to this point, but all-in-all I am excited that it didn't take nearly as long as it could have.Once again, I'll reiterate that the important part of this for me is just to show that I am working on something and that it is playable. This is still extremely early in development and many things you will encounter are not simply unfinished, but entirely prototypical. Now that the test is going fully live, allow me to explain some of the purpose and thought behind it.Phase Two TestingIt's inevitable that many people will play this version of the game and find it to be extremely undercooked. That is definitely true and there is still a long way to go with the game. The main purpose of this playt…

  • Phase One - 17 January 2026

Welcome to the New ParadigmHello, I'm Danny Judas, creator of Collect Call. I was hoping that today would be the day I open the floodgates of the Steam opt-in playtest, but unfortunately the build still has a few phases of review ahead of it before that is possible. However, my goal with this project is to get a playable version into people's hands as soon as possible. I'm very excited to show you all what I've been working on, and it's exceptionally important to me that you all get the chance... to give it a chance.A few words of warning before we head into testing proper:What I am opening up here is still VERY early in development and has a long way to go before being anything near what I consider to be finished. There is not that much content to explore or grapple with.I have put quite a bit of effort into explaining the game while you play it, but there is still plenty more work to do…
