- Balancing Card Gold Cost - 21 September 2026
Hi everyone,Upon playtester feedback, I've increased the gold cost of level 2 and level 3 cards in the card shop. I'm testing these balance changes to see how they feel. If you'd like to provide feedback on the new balance update, here's a general feedback form. https://forms.gle/LCFJGNxCvikGGou76The rationale behind the new gold costs for the cards is that, previously, it felt like the card shop was irrelevant once you got into the second half of the sewer levels and in all of the library levels. This was because you usually were only looking to upgrade one or two of your favorite cards in a given biome, and maybe spend some money on a third card (like a cursed card or a HP increase card), and so all the extra money just ended up accumulating, leading to gold inflation.I believe the new gold costs balances this out so that you can still upgrade your favorite cards and spend some extra…

- MAJOR UPDATE: New Biomes! - 4 September 2026
Hi everyone,I have some big news! After much hard work, I am proud to release two entire new biomes to the demo for Coup de Koala! These biomes are the putrid sewers and the historic castle library. So you can finally see some of the content in-game that are shown on the store page. This will allow access to players to 3 out of the 5 total planned chapters in the game for free until launch date (which will have a separate announcement next month).Besides adding in these two exciting new biomes, I have also made the following changes:Added achievements for completing each difficulty modeBalance updates (increased damage of weapons + melee kill streak needed to get a shield nerfed to 5 kills instead of 3 kills)Bug fixesUI/UX improvements (for example, added timers to indicate when obstacles from the Obstacle Card disappear and to indicate how long an enemy is stunned, added a Quick Save b…

- Name Change - 18 July 2026
Hi everyone, I have changed the name of the game from Coup d'Koala to Coup de Koala. This is a very minor change but technically grammatically correct since the grammatical preposition "d'" from the French phrase "coup d'etat" is only shortened from the full spelling "de" when placed before a vowel. When placed before a consonant, "de" must be used.Best,Victor L.

- NEW Difficulty Modes + Many New Cards + Bullet Fest! - 9 June 2026
New difficulty modes: easy, normal, hard, insane, and nightmareCards now require gold to add to deck and must be purchasedMany new cards (including, but not limited to, melee parry card, melee life drain card, flaming orbitals card)Coup d'Koala is participating in Bullet Fest this week on SteamHi everyone,I am happy to announce some major additions to Coup d'Koala's gameplay! First, there are now four new difficulty modes in the game: easy, hard, insane, and nightmare. These modes have different multipliers for how much damage enemies do, how much health enemies have, and how much leaves spell cards cost. Notably, in the nightmare mode, revives are turned off and the acceleration of enemies is increased. The former means if you got the revive perk in the game -- which gives you one free revive if you die to continue your run -- it won't work in nightmare mode! The default mode is normal…
- Playtest Coup d'Koala! (and small patches) - 8 May 2026
Hi everyone!I'd like to make an official call for playtesters for Coup d'Koala. In preparation for this call for playtesters, I've made a few minor patches to the game, but the focus of this playtest is mostly to inform me what you think should be included in the game! You can leave feedback through this two-question Google form (https://forms.gle/nm4q1J1wJgHKHMh79).Two general questions that I'm curious to hear the players' opinions on:What weapon + card synergies would you like to see in the game? (this can be with new cards/weapons or existing cards/weapons!)One card per EXP level or one card per stage level? The current system for deckbuilding is the ability to choose a single card to add to your deck after each stage level. Would the game feel more fun (more dopamine??) if there was instead an EXP system where you can quickly level up your koala and have the ability to choose one of…

Hi everyone! Thank you all for your patience as I'm working on making Coup d'Koala as best as it possibly could be. I'm happy to announce that Coup d'Koala is now available on Windows, macOS, AND Linux!Since the last update, I've also made substantial UI/UX improvements and bug fixes. I've been working secretly in the background on the next two biomes (the sewer biome and the library biome) and they both look to be pretty epic so far. This new content will be availa…
