Hello Players! Troy here, with a small update to Ultimate Arena. This one fixes custom text for characters, so creators will want to take note of the changes. Message To Character creators: custom-only messages now work.Before, if a global message pool for an action was empty, some updates could fail to appear even when a character had custom lines for that action. Now message selection is safe:If both custom and global lines exist, it picks from either.If only custom lines exist, it uses custom.If only global lines exist, it uses global.It only shows nothing if neither has any lines.This means you no longer need at least one global line just to make character-specific updates appear.Thank You for Playing! -Troy

- Ultimate Arena 6.0 - Leap of Faith - 29 February 2024
It's Ultimate Arena's 2nd (err.. 8th?) birthday, and we are delivering one of the most requested features in our latest 6.0 update: Ultrawide and Scaling support. What's changed? When Ultimate Arena was written, it ran exclusively in windowed mode at 720p. This made sense at the time because it was meant to be played on stream at 1080p, and that gave room for additional content for the streamer. Over the years higher and higher resolution screens have become readily available, and often not in 16:9 ratio - the only aspect ratio Ultimate Arena supports. Today, you can finally play Ultimate Arena at the correct aspect ratio in fullscreen on any display >720p. This was accomplished by reworking the code for every single menu and window in the game. - Ultimate Arena v5.5 - An Elongated Christmas - 24 December 2021
Arena Operators, Further improvements have been made to the tools at your disposal, in particular a secret Santa hat applicator that only activates in the month of December has been added to the detailed fighter view. You can only enable Santa hats on characters that believe in him. Snow and holiday theming has returned, and should return every year automatically before reverting to the regular arena theming in January. Lastly, you may have noticed this release skips 5.4 and goes straight to 5.5. 5.4's changes have been incorporated into this patch including changes that address a few small bugs and performance concerns. - The 1st Birthday - 29 February 2020
On February 29th, 2016 we released Ultimate Arena. Now, 4 years later, we get to celebrate its first birthday. This update includes several community suggested features and some features of our own design. Newspapers have some additional funny quips to add to the regular stream of updates and the 3D Map takes you in for a closer look at some of the magic going inside of the arena. We think players casual and old will both find new and interesting situations with these updates to our tools. While this is our last big feature update for the game, we're committed to keeping it bug-free. Please submit all bug reports on the Ultimate Arena github page where we can better address any issues that come up. We thank our wonderful fans who have supported the game for 4 years. -Troy

- Custom Edition Part 1, Out Now - 8 August 2018
Arena Fans, This is the first release in many (probably around 6 total) updates that are part of the Custom Edition package. This first one focuses on creating fighters as I have been working to make the jobs of content creators a bit easier. So what's changed? On the main menu the layout is a bit different, you'll see a "Steam Workshop" button which takes you to the upload screen. From here you can see your current fighters that you've uploaded to the workshop and for the first time you can actually update your fighters. (this will be important for upcoming updates) On the user side, fighters from the workshop now are decoupled from your personal catalog and are at the bottom of the fighter list.
