- Widle is Out Now! - 10 August 2026
Thank you to everyone who checked out my game, or even just took a moment to stop by and see it, I really appreciate it. This is just a little project I'm working on in my spare time and having fun with it. I had the main build done, so I figured if anyone was interested in checking it out, they could. For anyone who doesn't know, Widle is a cozy 2D pixel-art idle simulation where you tend a tiny desktop planter, watch your plant grow over time, and use earned coins to unlock new species and decorative pot skins.I plan on adding a bunch of things soon, such as animations to the items you can buy, a ton more items, Steam achievements, audio, music, and honestly anything else I can look into for suggestions. I'll be posting updates here on Steam as I add things, so keep an eye out.If you're a musician or audio creator and want your music featured in the game, feel free to send it my way. I…
- Thank You for Checking Out the Demo! - 7 July 2026
Thank you so much to everyone who checked out the demo and added Widle to their wishlist. It genuinely means a lot to me, especially as a solo developer working on this in my spare time. These past few days I've been focused on cleaning up the demo and optimizing the game for full release, making sure everything runs smoothly and feels polished before it gets into more hands.I'm also continuing to expand the range of items in the game, adding new electronics, animals, and foods for you to discover and collect. Once I get everything designed and added, my plan is to start bringing these items to life with animations. From there, I'm hoping to move into things like floor items, different lighting options for items, and maybe even more beyond that. For now though, it's steady chugging away at the art. I'm not a trained pixel artist, I actually just started learning pixel art while making th…

- Big Lessons, and Demo Progress - 9 May 2026
Hey everyone,Just wanted to give a real update on where things have been with Widle.Honestly... I kind of messed up.As the game started getting bigger, I realized some of the systems I built early on just were not going to scale the way I needed them to. I could have kept piling stuff on top and hoped for the best, but I knew that would just create bigger problems later, so I made the call to step back and rework some pretty major parts of the game.It definitely slowed things down, and life outside of development has been busy too, but I think I am finally making some progress.Over the last little while I have been:• Reworking major backend systems • Rebuilding the shop and inventory so things feel smoother and easier to use • Removing extra menus and layers • Updating prices and balancing the game economy • Cleaning up older systems as the game growsWidle is finally starting to feel li…
- Small Progress Update - 21 July 2025
Just wanted to share what I’ve been up to for the past two weeks. I spent my free time cleaning up the game logic I had sketched out so planting and growth now work more reliably. I also wrapped up all the basic sprites I needed, plant stages, soil textures and UI icons, and fixed those sprite size mix ups that made everything grow the wrong way.Next on my list is adding menu buttons for planting and upgrades, wiring in music tracks to set the mood and building a settings menu so you can tweak volume and controls. Since I’m creating every sprite myself, every menu, every button, basically everything you see on screen, it takes time as I’m still learning, but I’m making steady progress one task at a time.I also need to learn how to animate plant growth, watering and other functions so the game feels more alive but the more I sit here and think the more I can add to my list so, one thing…
- Thank You & What’s Next - 11 July 2025
Hey everyone,Just wanted to say thank you for being here and taking a look at Widle, the little game I’ve been working on. Getting it on Steam has been a fun learning experience. This is the first game I’ve ever really tried to make, so I’m happy to try and get it going in the right direction. I have a big list of things to work on, and I'll try and tackle them week by week.So far, I’ve been working on things like:Real-Time Growth While Playing — your plant progresses in real time while Widle is open, so you can check in anytime and still have progress,Config-Driven Content — all plant types, pot designs, and desk items are built from easy to edit data files, making it quick to add new decorations or other things when I wantSturdy Save System — coins, growth stages, and unlocked items are saved locally, with optional Steam Cloud sync to keep your garden safe.Clean, Intuitive UI — the sh…
