- vrOS v1.15.0 Patch Notes - 3 July 2026
vrOS v1.15.0 Patch Notes New Features Administrator Access (Settings › Desktop › General): an opt-in way to run vrOS with elevated permissions so overlay mouse and keyboard input keep working on administrator windows — admin terminals, installers, and UAC prompts that Windows normally blocks. Choose to be asked each time vrOS starts, or set up a one-time approval so it launches elevated without prompting, plus a one-off "Restart with admin" button for the current session. Unified frame-time chart: the two separate FPS graphs are replaced by a single frame-time timeline showing CPU and GPU on a shared millisecond scale, both always visible. No more disappearing lines or solid white bars when the frame rate hitches. Includes a target-budget guideline and an optional marker lane for dropped frames. The chart settings are simplified to a history-length picker and a hitch-marker toggle. Bug…
- vrOS v1.14.3 Patch Notes - 29 June 2026
vrOS v1.14.3 Patch Notes Bug Fixes The 12/24-hour clock toggle now works correctly, and the title-bar clock follows your preference. Clicking a captured window no longer accidentally tears it off into its own overlay or starts a drag. The Twitch ad countdown timer no longer runs behind the real ad schedule. Fixed audio dropouts caused by capture clock drift. Improvements The pointer reticle now keeps up during fast head and controller movement. Captured windows stay smooth even under heavy game load. Known Issues Text typed into a captured window can lag a few frames behind, most noticeably in Windows Terminal. We don't have a fix yet, but we're working on one.
- vrOS v1.14.2 Patch Notes - 26 June 2026
vrOS v1.14.2 Patch Notes Bug Fixes Overlay framerate now eases back smoothly when the GPU is busy instead of dropping sharply to a low rate and staying there. Resizing an overlay by pulling it toward or away from you now tracks the natural reach of your hand instead of your head direction, so depth adjustments feel more predictable. Improvements Captured window and screen overlays stay smoother under heavy game load.
- vrOS v1.14.1 Patch Notes - 25 June 2026
vrOS v1.14.1 Patch Notes Bug Fixes Resizing a grabbed overlay now tracks the natural direction your hand reaches, instead of snapping to the floor plane — it feels right no matter which way you're facing. Overlay resizing is gentler by default and no longer hitches partway through a zoom. Fixed the default resize direction so pushing your hand forward grows the overlay and pulling it back shrinks it. Improvements The overlay resize-speed slider now covers a more usable range, and you can turn off joystick resizing entirely if your thumbstick drifts (OVR → Overlays). Smoother dashboard and on-screen keyboard — rendering work moved off the main thread and hover redraws are capped to cut stutter.
- vrOS v1.14.0 Patch Notes - 22 June 2026
vrOS v1.14.0 Patch Notes New Features Resize grabbed overlays by hand depth — grab an overlay and move your hand forward to enlarge it or back to shrink it; only forward/back motion counts, and the overlay follows your hand as it scales. New options under OVR → Overlays let you adjust resize speed, invert the direction, lock the overlay in place while resizing, or disable joystick resizing for drifting thumbsticks. Improvements GPU crash diagnostics no longer add any overhead during normal use. Ongoing behind-the-scenes work on GPU stability.
- vrOS v1.13.0 Patch Notes - 20 June 2026
vrOS v1.13.0 Patch Notes New Features Overlay rows in the active overlays list now have two lock modes. A single click sets a soft lock (blue) that pins the overlay in place while leaving its show/hide toggle clickable. A double-click or long-press sets a hard lock (red) that disables every control on the row. Click a locked row to unlock it, or double-click a soft lock to upgrade it to a hard lock. Clicking the show/hide eye on an overlay row now also selects that overlay, matching the lock icon. The controls panel follows whatever row you just toggled, even when the dashboard-hide confirmation appears.
- vrOS v1.12.2 Patch Notes - 20 June 2026
vrOS v1.12.2 Patch Notes Bug Fixes Fixed a slow memory leak that could grow the desktop window's memory use over long sessions. The header clock now updates once a minute instead of every second, which keeps memory flat across multi-hour sessions. As a side effect the clock no longer shows seconds — a live-seconds display will return in a future update. Improvements Reduced graphics memory growth during long sessions by reusing overlay textures instead of constantly recreating them, keeping memory use bounded over hours of continuous use.
- vrOS v1.12.1 Patch Notes - 14 June 2026
vrOS v1.12.1 Patch Notes Highlights A small hotfix: Italian translation corrections and a smoothness fix when watching several streams at once. Bug Fixes Corrected a number of Italian translations where a word had been picked in the wrong sense — for example "Watch", "Join", "Custom", and "Lock" now read correctly. Improvements Watching more than two streams at once no longer slows the dashboard down. Video now updates on its own thread, so the frame rate stays smooth no matter how many streams you have open.
- vrOS v1.12.0 Patch Notes - 13 June 2026
vrOS v1.12.0 Patch Notes New Features Pop-out stream windows: Twitch streams on desktop now play in their own window — one per stream — with fullscreen via a hover button, double-click, or F11. Player controls: hover over a pop-out stream window for play/pause, mute, a volume slider, and fullscreen. They stay in sync with the stream card, and a new "Show controls on player" toggle on the Live → Streams tab hides them if you prefer a clean window. Clips: a Clip button on the stream card captures the live moment and gives you a link to copy or open. Twitch needs a one-time reconnect to grant the new permission — you'll see a prompt. Watch where you are: pressing Watch now opens the stream on the surface you pressed it from (desktop window or VR), and a new "Show in VR" / "Show on desktop" button brings a playing stream to the other surface without restarting it. Live at a glance: stream c…
- vrOS v1.11.0 Patch Notes - 11 June 2026
vrOS v1.11.0 Patch Notes New Features Settings search: a search box at the top of Settings finds any setting in your language and jumps straight to its page. Recent tabs: the settings sidebar lists your three most recently visited tabs, so bouncing between distant pages no longer takes a full scroll. Pointer responsiveness presets: pick Precise, Balanced, or Fast under Settings → OpenVR → Controller. Precise adds stability for unsteady hands, Fast minimizes click and scroll latency. Bigger, more readable UI: the whole dashboard is now drawn 1.5× larger, and the default text scale is 115%. Adjust it from 85% to 150% under Settings → Accessibility — your existing text-size preference is carried over automatically. Overlay resolution presets: the free-form resolution sliders are replaced with landscape and portrait presets that stay sharp at your chosen text size. Devices panel: the device…
- vrOS v1.10.0 Patch Notes - 10 June 2026
vrOS v1.10.0 Patch Notes New Features Controller vibration: controllers now buzz softly when you click, grab, scroll, and resize overlays in VR. Turn it off or adjust the strength under Settings → OpenVR → Haptics. Desktop handoff settings: tune how quickly the VR pointer takes back control after you use your physical mouse or keyboard, under Settings → OpenVR → General. Bug Fixes Fixed bumping your desk mouse knocking out the VR pointer for several seconds. Light bumps now hand control back almost immediately, and pulling the trigger on an overlay reclaims VR control right away. Fixed slow, deliberate overlay drags briefly freezing in place and then jumping to catch up. Fixed overlay push/pull and resize moving too fast on high-refresh-rate headsets (about a third too fast at 120 Hz). Fixed overlays sometimes sticking to an idle hand on controllers with noisy grip sensors. Improvements…
- vrOS v1.9.1 Patch Notes - 8 June 2026
vrOS v1.9.1 Patch Notes Bug Fixes Fixed the automatic controller-input recovery added in v1.9.0 occasionally overwhelming SteamVR and making it stop responding. It now retries more gently. Fixed the desktop window sometimes freezing for good after the system ran low on memory. vrOS now restarts just that window automatically if it locks up. Fixed the Run Ad button failing with a permissions error. If you connected Twitch before this update, disconnect and reconnect it once to grant the new permission. Ad error messages are clearer now too. Fixed the toggle-dashboard keybind and gesture not being able to hide the dashboard — toggling off now hides it again instead of instantly bringing it back.
- vrOS v1.9.0 Patch Notes - 8 June 2026
vrOS v1.9.0 Patch Notes New Features Overlays can now be linked to a display preset. When you spawn or save a preset, the overlay stays tied to it — the "Preset+" button becomes a modify button that reopens the setup window so you can update that preset in place (its layout is re-captured live and the source is pre-filled), and saving overwrites the original preset. Overlays linked to a preset are marked with a green ring in the active overlays list. Bug Fixes Fixed controller input — playspace move, rotate, and drag — sometimes silently stopping until a full vrOS restart. This could happen right after launching or restarting SteamVR, or after a controller went to sleep and woke. vrOS now detects when SteamVR drops its input bindings and re-binds them automatically, so controller input recovers on its own. Improvements Widened the overlay controls panel in the full layout, giving the ac…
- vrOS v1.8.0 Patch Notes - 5 June 2026
vrOS v1.8.0 Patch Notes Improvements Refreshed compact dashboard: a cleaner two-row clock at a steady size, right-aligned world clocks and uptimes, a bigger main logo button, larger media controls, and corrected device icons for a tidier devices row. Display presets now show clear icons and readable names instead of raw codes, laid out three per row. Lower idle CPU and power use — vrOS now does far less background work when nothing on the dashboard is changing, keeping the interface smooth. Bug Fixes Media controls now show the correct app name for the audio source — previously left blank for some apps such as Firefox. Dropdown menus now stay fully on screen and line up with their buttons, including when using larger accessibility text. Fixed the compact dashboard logo sometimes collapsing or leaving a gap. Closing a VR overlay no longer causes a brief stutter. Fixed the dashboard occas…
- vrOS v1.7.1 Patch Notes - 2 June 2026
vrOS v1.7.1 Patch Notes Bug Fixes Fixed the desktop dashboard occasionally locking up on launch, leaving the window unclickable (closable only from the system tray). The dashboard now shows a "Reload" prompt instead of locking up if an unexpected display error occurs. Fixed the pre-ad warning overlay not appearing ahead of Twitch ads running. Fixed the live viewer-count badge not showing for your own Twitch channel. Fixed vrOS logo gestures (double-click / long-hold) in the compact dashboard getting stuck on an action that had no effect there; affected setups auto-repair on next launch.
- vrOS v1.7.0 Patch Notes - 31 May 2026
vrOS v1.7.0 Patch Notes New Features The New Overlay picker now marks any window or display you're already capturing with a green border, so spawning another copy is a deliberate choice rather than an accident. Duplicate captures are still allowed. Added a setting to hide the 4K capture resolution (Settings → OVR → Overlays). With it off, the capture picker offers only 1K and 2K. Off by default. Bug Fixes Fixed capturing the same window or display more than once — for example spawning your primary display again — silently failing to open. You can now run multiple captures of the same source.
- vrOS v1.6.0 Patch Notes - 31 May 2026
vrOS v1.6.0 Patch Notes New Features Reworked VR right-click controls — pick from Dedicated Action, Trigger + Pose, or Trigger + Modifier. The old Grip mode has been removed, and existing setups carry over automatically. Right-click trigger sensitivity is now an adjustable slider with one-tap presets. Bug Fixes Fixed the desktop window occasionally opening unclickable or failing to load. The Presets tab now displays correctly in the desktop window (it was previously blank). Your settings now survive a system crash instead of resetting you back to first-run setup. Twitch chat command replies now stay in your own channel. Fixed several crashes when closing or shutting down vrOS. VR overlays no longer disappear during brief spikes of extreme system load from other programs. Smoother overlay performance when pop-outs or alerts are open. You can no longer remove every gesture that exits Comp…
- vrOS v1.5.1 Patch Notes - 28 May 2026
vrOS v1.5.1 Patch Notes Highlights Hotfix for Electron apps. Typing from the VR keyboard into Electron-based windows like Discord and Claude Code now keeps up with bursts instead of stalling one character at a time. Bug Fixes VR-keyboard typing into Chromium / Electron windows is no longer slow. Burst keystrokes into Discord, Claude Code, and other Electron / Chromium apps now coalesce into a single batched send so the app paints once per burst instead of once per character. Single keystrokes after a pause still go through immediately — no added floor latency. Native apps, terminals, and display targets are unchanged. About popup's Discord link rendered cleanly. A stray underscore-looking artifact in front of the Discord URL is gone, and the Community section is now styled in Discord blurple so the link reads as a link.
- vrOS v1.5.0 Patch Notes - 27 May 2026
vrOS v1.5.0 Patch Notes Highlights Long-hold the dashboard logo in compact mode now unlocks the overlay and swaps to layout mode. Same as the existing double-press, but easier to land in VR. Fullsize-dash defaults are unchanged. Custom keybindings are preserved on update. Heads up on the preset system. The new preset and preset-group flow mostly works, but a few known bugs are still being shaken out and will be fixed in the next patch. If you hit an edge case or want to help guide where this lands next, join the Discord. New Features Preset groups — workspace snapshots. Build a group like "Streaming Layout" once: tap it later to spawn Twitch on the left wrist, chat on the right, OBS on the headset, and close everything else in one motion. Preset+ button on the overlays tab. Save the overlay you've just tweaked as a preset, right from the overlays tab. Source kind (Browser / App / Window…
- vrOS v1.4.0 Patch Notes — Keybind Changes - 26 May 2026
vrOS v1.4.0 Patch Notes — Keybind Changes Enhancements Logo button gestures are now configurable per dashboard form factor. The full-size dash and the compact dash have independent single-click, double-click, and long-hold bindings. New defaults: single click swaps form factor, double click cycles overlay layout (full dash) or toggles compact layout lock (compact dash), and long-hold refreshes overlay titles + media sources. The Help dialog, welcome modal, and Overlays tab gesture hints now read your actual bindings, so they stay in sync if you rebind. New "Refresh Titles + Media Sources" and "Refresh Media Player Sources" gesture actions. The media refresh nudges the SMTC poll loop so newly-opened media players (Spotify, Tidal, browser tabs) appear in the media overlay immediately instead of waiting for the next poll tick. Bug Fixes WASAPI audio render and capture threads are now eleva…
