A Modern Warfare 3 remaster "does not exist", Activision has insisted. Activision issued a statement to CharlieIntel denying recent rumours the publisher was set to release a remaster of Infinity Ward's 2011 shooter. "A remaster of Modern Warfare 3, campaign or multiplayer, does not exist. Any reports otherwise are incorrect," reads the statement. Read more

Activision has confirmed plans to release a new Call of Duty game during the fourth quarter of 2021. "We will benefit from a full year of Warzone driving upgrades to our premium content and incremental in-game player investment, and we have a substantial opportunity to continue migrating the community to Black Ops Cold War as well as another strong premium release planned for Q4 in 2021," said Activision's chief financial officer Dennis Durkin in a financial call last night. "In our outlook, we are conservatively assuming Call of Duty premium units are lower year-over-year. However, with opportunities in-game across all platforms including the ramp up of Call of Duty Mobile in China we do expect growth in net bookings overall for the Call of Duty franchise." Read more

I wasn't so keen on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's multiplayer at launch . Most of the maps available to play at the back end of October 2019 were too big for their own good, resulting in boring play. Some of the maps were downright dirty. Piccadilly remains a blot on the Call of Duty multiplayer landscape, and I still have nightmares over sniper rifle glints peeking out from the safety of Euphrates Bridge. Add to this cluttered map design, a largely useless mini-map and upper-level windows all over the shop, and you got a camper's paradise right there. A year later, I am craving more Modern Warfare, and I feel bitterly disappointed that the game feels like it's being left behind as Activision shifts focus to Warzone and Black Ops Cold War . It's interesting to look back at Modern Warfare's first year of life. As new maps were added to the game, I found myself playing it more and more.…

I remember playing a Counter-Strike map in 2001 called fy_iceworld. It was a small simple grey killbox of a map that virtually anyone could’ve made within the first few hours of downloading the editor tools. fy_iceworld quickly became one of the most popular and divisive CS maps at my school. I was, of course, one of the haters. I tried to convince my friends to vote against fy_iceworld on our local internet cafe’s CS server, but they argued that I was just salty about being bad at it (which was partly true) and they forced the mapchange anyway. Similar conversations played out across countless clan servers, cyber cafes, PC bangs, and LAN parties around the entire world. A remastered version of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign is hitting PC on April 30th, bringing improved audio and visuals to what’s pretty widely considered one of COD’s best singleplayer stories. Note that it is just the singleplayer campaign we’re getting a remaster of – if you were expecting to be able to drop on some of your old favourite multiplayer maps like in 2016’s MW Remastered , well, think again, as multiplayer and Spec-Ops missions aren’t included. This year's Call of Duty game is called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, according to reports and Eurogamer's own sources. It's not to be confused with the first Modern Warfare, aka Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, released in 2007. Or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, released in 2016. Despite the name, it's very much a new game. Twitter user LongSensation spilled the beans on the Modern Warfare moniker this afternoon. I've heard this name previously. - Humvee manufacturer suing Activision over Call of Duty warcars - 9 November 2017
The manufacturers of Humvees are suing Activision over Call of Duty games featuring vehicles which, they say, look an awful lot like their own warcars. AM General claim that these Humvee-lookin’ vehicles violate their trademark and Activision don’t have permission, so they want CoD to knock it off and pay them damages. Their case pivots on several Call of Duty games, including Modern Warfare and Ghosts, featuring warcars which allegedly look close enough to Humvees to fall under their ‘trade dress’ — a type of intellectual property covering what a product looks like — and are sometimes called Humvees by name. The people behind Humvee are suing Activision over the appearance of the famous military vehicle in Call of Duty. AM General LLC said Activision incorporated its Humvee trademark without permission in the Call of Duty games, toys and strategy guides, Reuters reports . In the lawsuit filed in Manhattan, AM General accused Activision of "taking advantage of its goodwill and reputation". Read more…

Activision have finally released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered by itself, no longer restricted to being an extra in an expensive edition of CoD: Infinite Warfare. Not that the revamp of 2007’s seminal Call of Duty 4 is much more affordable now it’s sold seperately, mind. If you want to relive the good old days, it’ll cost you 35. Seven months later, Activision have announced they’re putting an end to this foolishness and releasing Modern Warfare Remastered separately. Oh, but it’s never that simple.
