- Rewind 99 Update 1.0.4: A Smoother Store - 2 October 2026
Update 1.0.4 brings smoother play in busy stores, the ability for hosts to pause, and fixes for checkout lines, rental returns, and Steam achievements. We've also focused on customers getting stuck around doors and tunnels and problems that show up when you load a save. Here's what's changed since Hotfix 1.0.3. 🛒 Store & Checkout Self-checkout no longer gets stuck when a customer leaves partway through a sale. The counter clears that transaction so the next customer can use it. Fixed rare cases where items arriving just as scanning began, or a deposit that delivered no items, could leave a checkout line stuck. Tourists whose visit time runs out while their items are already on the counter now finish that sale before heading home. Fixed unpaid checkout transactions getting stuck after loading a save. 🚶 Customers & Employees We've continued working on the places where customers and empl…
- Rewind 99 Hotfix 1.0.3 - Store Life, Smoother 🎬 - 1 September 2026
Before I get into the patch notes, I want to take a moment to talk to you as people, not just give "developer speak".The launch of Rewind 99 1.0 did not land the way I anticipated or hoped. I know many of you have run into frustrating bugs, performance problems, and issues that have gotten in the way of simply enjoying the game.I'm really sorry for that.I love Rewind 99, and it genuinely hurts knowing that we've come up short for many of you at launch. I also know that an apology only means so much without action behind it. The team has been working incredibly hard to address the problems you've reported, and we're going to keep doing that. We're determined to do right by Rewind 99 and, most importantly, by the players who have supported us.Thank you to everyone who has reported bugs, shared feedback, sent us save files, or simply given us the patience to make things right. ❤️Hotfix 1.0.…

- Rewind 99: Remix - Our Biggest Update Yet - 27 August 2026
Hey everyone! When we launched Rewind 99 into Early Access, we learned a lot. Many of you loved the core loop, but two pieces of feedback kept rising to the top:Mid-to-late game performance needed serious work.Employees weren't nearly as reliable as they should be.So while our small but mighty art team kept building new content, the rest of us spent the last several months rebuilding the game's foundation."Remix" is exactly that - a second pass on Rewind 99's core systems. Smoother, faster, more reliable, with a handful of new things to find along the way. This is the biggest technical update we've shipped, and it's only the beginning.READ THIS FIRSTNew save files are required. We really wanted to avoid this, but we found that to deliver the best version of Rewind 99 that we could continue to build upon was changing enough foundational technology that would make old save files unstable. I…
- Our Biggest Update Yet Arrives August 27 at 8 AM PT - 23 August 2026
Hey everyone,Some of you are finding Rewind 99 for the first time this week - welcome. Good timing, because our biggest update yet lands August 27 at 8 AM PT.What's coming:A deep optimization pass across the whole gameRebuilt employee AI - your staff will actually do their jobsA batch of quality-of-life features pulled straight from community requestsPlenty more we'll detail on the dayTwo things I want to be upfront about:1. You'll need to start a new save. We fought hard to avoid this through all of Early Access. This update rebuilds a lot of the game's foundation, and there was no version of that which kept old saves intact. I'm sorry - I know that's a real cost if you've got a store you like. You'll still be able to play old save files through our "Legacy" build, which you'll have as a boot option when starting the game from your Steam library.2. Multiplayer may be disabled at launch…
- Hotfix - The Mustache Bug Has Been Defeated - 16 July 2026
New players will no longer spawn with the mustache equipped by default.A few of you asked why this seemingly small bug took so long to address, so I wanted to give a quick explanation.Right now, almost our entire engineering team is focused on our upcoming optimization update, which is being developed on Unreal Engine 5.7. The current live version of Rewind 99 is still running on 5.5, meaning this hotfix couldn't simply be rolled into our ongoing work.Instead, someone had to jump back to the older branch, reopen the project in the older version of Unreal, make the fix there, then build and test it separately. To make things even more fun, we currently only have one build machine, which is busy generating builds for the optimization update. That meant this hotfix had to be fully cooked, tested, and published from a developer's local machine instead.Thankfully, the mustache menace has now…
- Rewind 99 is 30% Off + A Roadmap Update - 25 June 2026
Hey everyone!Today marks the start of the Steam Summer Sale, and we're excited to announce that Rewind 99 is 30% off - our biggest discount yet!Whether you've had the game on your wishlist for a while or are just discovering it, we wanted to take this opportunity to share an important update on where the game is headed over the next few weeks.A Quick Update on Optimization & Employee BehaviorFirst, we want to be completely transparent. When we launched Rewind 99 over three months ago, we were blown away by the response. Seeing so many people jump into our weird little video store simulator was incredibly exciting. As more players reached the end game, however, it became clear that we had some significant technical shortcomings. For as goofy as Rewind 99 is, it's also surprisingly ambitious under the hood. An open world filled with hundreds of NPCs, dynamic shopping behavior, player-created…
- 🎬 Rewind 99 - Day 60 Patch Notes - 1 June 2026
Hey everyone! Before we dive into the new content, we want to quickly address the two biggest topics we've been hearing from the community: optimization and employee AI.We know these are currently the highest priorities for many players, and they're the highest priorities for us too. Multiple engineers have been working as much as possible on both areas, and we're currently targeting late June for a major update focused on performance improvements, employee behavior, and other technical improvements. We're optimistic that this update will deliver some of the biggest quality-of-life improvements the game has seen so far. That said, one of our goals during Early Access has always been to continue expanding the world of Rewind 99. While our engineers tackle technical challenges, we don't want to block the work of our artists. Because of that, we've been developing multiple parts of the game…
