  • Demo Patch 05 - 3 September 2026

Introducing Tile EnergyPatch 05 for The Drifting Crown Demo is here, and this one makes a fairly big change to how building your map works. Placing tiles now costs Energy. As you explore, you’ll need to collect Energy Points and decide how to spend them when expanding your map. Energy can be restored by defeating enemies or found inside chests. This changes the flow of a run quite a bit. Building your route is now tied more closely to what you do while exploring it, and you’ll need to keep an eye on how much Energy you have before choosing your next tile.If you've played the demo before, we recommend replaying the tutorial. It has been updated to explain the new system. We've also added the UI needed to make Energy easier to keep track of:Your current Energy is now shown in the UIMap cards display their Energy costThe map cursor turns red when you can't afford a tileTiles with uncollected…

  • We Have a Demo! - 30 June 2026

After a very busy few months, we're excited to release The Drifting Crown demo. Thank you to everyone who's been following the project and cheering us on along the way.The demo includes a tutorial and a full mission that introduces many of the game's core mechanics. You play as Alex, a rather grumpy maintenance worker who's had enough of the day and just wants to relax with a cold pint at the village pub. Unfortunately, the world's generator has failed again, which means another trip to the Lake District, a vast scrapyard where you'll need to restore power before anyone gets to enjoy that well-earned drink. As you explore, you'll build the world around you by placing map tiles, connecting areas together, routing electricity to where it's needed, and using upgrade connectors to power up Alex for the challenges ahead. Every run is a little different, so planning your route is just as import…

Hi everyone — this is our first update, so bear with us 🙂A lot of you found The Drifting Crown during DreamHack in Birmingham back in March, which somehow already feels like ages ago. We’d love to have you there. If you have any questions about the game, just ask — we’ll do our best to answer. In the meantime, here are a few screenshots from our cur…
