Latest Steam announcements

  • v1.0.9 - Steamdeck support + overhaul for demo release - 21 November 2025

ADDED evil sales (random price increases) depending on difficulty ADDED 5 more rounds to the demo, for a total of 15 rounds. ADDED martyrs always get discounted in the shop after the first encounter with the witch on lower difficulties ADDED ability to change the current page of the shop with A+D, or the shoulder buttons of a controller. I'd add dpad/arrow keys but I might later add full controls for gamepad, so that would then require unlearning to rebind them to selection controls within the shop ADDED pressing B on controller to exit the: shop, pawn promotion, stats, oracle, and game over screens ADDED clarification to tooltip config option about camera shake, and when it actually occurs ADDED 3 new facts to the oracle ADDED onscreen prompt to tell touchscreen players to 'drag pieces' if they tap a piece, and then tap an empty tile ADDED ability to move through the instructions scree…

  • v1.0.8 - Fixed dull colour palette, added stalemate, and other tweaks - 4 November 2025

ADDED - Nicer overall palette - adjusted the muted colours and added more contrast / saturation ADDED - Stalemate condition: If there's no more free tiles when you end turn, it will trigger game over CHANGED - New oracle button to main menu, and also rearranged the overall button layout CHANGED - Price of jester from 30->20 CHANGED - Jesters can now move freely within a 7x7 grids long as there's a path, instead of in straight lines CHANGED - Control towers now support 8 tiles, instead of 7 CHANGED - Changes to the pieces that drop in first 10 rounds CHANGED - Price of necromancer was right before, put it back from 80->100 again FIXED - Bug where pickpocket was able to move diagonally 1 tile adjacent

  • v1.0.7 - Minor tweaks - 3 November 2025

CHANGED - Made control tower blinking lights flash sequentially instead of all at once CHANGED - Price of necromancer to be cheaper (100 -> 80) CHANGED - The piece drop order during first 10 rounds in preparation for Boardfall zero FIXED - Visual bug where the spinning yellow indicator would briefly appear from last time, upon loading a second game FIXED - Piece icon too far away from total pieces placed in top left corner during gameplay FIXED - Game version number floats way too far away from the game's logo (on main menu and pause screen)

  • v1.0.6 - New piece! Control towers - 1 November 2025

ADDED - New control tower piece, to prevent spamming the board with cheap pieces ADDED - New config option to automatically save the game every time you press the end turn button. Enabled by default, but I hope to turn it off once the game is more stable. ADDED - New config option to disable saving entirely (testing feature) FIXED - Using a martyr on your own cursed pawn didn't mark it as moved It was pointed out that it was too easy to fill the board up with cheap pieces, to the point that enemies were unable to spawn anymore. So to address this, I've created a new piece called the Control Tower. By default, you can place 7 pieces on the board at once. But to increase this, you must build control towers which grant you 7 more slots each (6, including themselves). You must defend these towers well, because if the enemy takes one, all the pieces that were using it become stranded and can…

  • v1.0.5 - Fixed place/hover artillery crash - 1 November 2025

FIXED - No longer crashes when hovering/placing artillery after a martyr has stolen one of your pieces. CHANGED - Clarified necromancer inspector description It has taken me all morning to figure out why hovering your artillery in very specific and unknown circumstances would cause a crash, so I'm going to explain what was happening because it feels like a waste not to share it. I eventually traced it back to martyrs. When an enemy martyr takes a piece, it's supposed to delete itself. But it was accidentally adding itself back to the list of played pieces again (clashing with the 'place from shop' code), but it would get added to the "placed on board" list of pieces without actually standing on any tile. So when you would hover your artillery specifically, it would look at all the enemy pieces it could attack that have been played, (as opposed to looking at the immediately adjacent piec…

  • v1.0.4 - Artillery price changes - 30 October 2025

CHANGED - Artillery price is now initially lower (400 -> 300), but x3 in price each purchase.

  • v1.0.3 - Can apply hopper upgrade to moved pieces - 30 October 2025

CHANGED - Can apply hopper upgrade even to moved pieces.

  • V1.0.2 - Fixed game over screen, and other minor changes - 30 October 2025

CHANGED - Piece names adjusted from "Black" to "Dark" to avoid any sus names.CHANGED - First vulture now spawns later, as they're tricky to capture at early gameFIXED - Game over screen was broken at non-native resolutions
