- Weapon Equip Cost Rework - Demo Update Now Live! - 29 June 2026
Demo Update! The Demo has a new update with the following new features and fixes! Weapon Equip Cost ReworkOne of the major pain points has been Scrap costs associated with equipping weapons. This could lead to death spirals being particularly punishing, and the desire to try out new weapons frustrating. This reworks that system with an additional 'Value' element which should allow for swapping between weapons more easily and less obstructively.Equipping Weapons will no longer require the full Scrap cost every time and will only require full Scrap cost when equipping to a Destroyed Weapon SlotWhen Equipping Weapons that are worth more Scrap then the currently Equipped Weapon the Scrap cost will only be the difference in Scrap cost between the two. When Equipping Weapons that are worth equal or less Scrap then the currently Equipped Weapon, the option will be to 'Transfer' to the other Weap…
- Steam Next Fest Summary and Weapon Equip Cost Rework - 25 June 2026
First and foremost, a tremendous THANK YOU to everyone who wishlisted and played the demo during Steam Next Fest! There are more and more entries into Next Fest every year, literally thousands of games to play, and for you to take the time to play the demo for my little mech game among so many incredible titles is beyond humbling. The Next Fest was a resounding success, and I can't thank you all enough for your feedback and helping point me in the right direction on bugs to crush or features to add as it was ongoing. My personal goal for Scraps has been to hit 10k wishlists before release, and as of writing we are sitting at just under that with over 9,600+! So thank you for playing, thank you for your criticism, and thank you for your time among so many games out there. Now then! I'm currently working on the next update which will include a slight rework to how weapons are equipped and…
- Demo Options and Optimization Update, MG Weapon Buffs - 20 June 2026
Hey, all! Here is another update just in time for the weekend based on some of the feedback you all have been providing. Please keep it coming, as it has been very helpful! I can't promise I'll be able to address every issue or make every recommended improvement but I will do what I can where I can. The main focus of this update is to fix many of the Options menu bugs and issues, particularly in regards to selecting Screen Resolution and Audio Output Device, and changing controls. I'm hoping these problems are largely resolved but as always if you continue to run into things breaking then let me know and I'll do my best to look into it. Most Weapons have had their Health increased and the starting weapon, the MG-558 Machine Gun, has also received an accuracy and slight damage increase to hopefully make it feel a touch more combat effective. I've also tried to do an optimization pass on…

- Demo Update - 11 June 2026
Hey, Scrappers! Thanks so much to everyone who has checked out the demo and given feedback so far. I've been reading through the discussion posts and trying to pick out the biggest pain points and will try to address a few of them with this update to the demo.Field Of View SettingAdded a Field Of View setting under the Options>Game tab. The FOV can be adjusted between 90 - 120, and will try to adjust the position of the cockpit and weapon placement to scale with the FOV change. The default FOV has also been increased from 90 to 95. There may be some clipping or model stretching, so it isn't a perfect solution but I hope it plays better for those with wide screen monitors.95 - 120 FOV previewIn-Game MapA simple Map has been added when pressing the 'Check Supply' button. The Map will mark the last Bunker the player deployed from for that level. If the player enters a new level the Map wil…

Hey, Scrappers! I know it's been a little quiet around here, apologies for that as I've been busy with the day job. But that's no excuse! I've still been cooking new featured based upon the most requested playtest feedback points, but it has taken me a little bit longer then I'd like. That all said here is a glimpse into some of the new features incoming with the next Playtest, which I'm aiming to have mid to late April. Hulls The most requested feature was for more Hull types to choose from. These more drastically modify your stats for overall Hull Health, base Movement Speed, Fuel Costs while Boosting (either while on the ground or in air), and more!HRM 'Porcupine' Medium HullLTT-28 'Bolt' Light HullModulesThe second most requested feature was more ways to customize the overall feel of the Mech. Hello, Scrappers! First and foremost a tremendous THANK YOU to the over 500 players who have participated in the Playtest and those who have provided feedback, whether that be through Steam discussion posts or the \. The Playtest will continue to run until the 12th, after that it will be taken down so that there is time to iterate and improve based on the feedback I've received. Another Playtest will return in the coming months! In the meantime, here are a few feedback highlights and points that I'll be working on. OverallOverall, players enjoyed the current gameplay experience but performance still needs work. I've noticed the second underground/refinery level in particular seems to be quite problematic. So that level will be getting an overhaul and change in approach to address those performance issues. Additionally, there have already been a few memory leak fixes and some improvement…

First and foremost, a tremendous thank you for all of the interest and kind words since the announcement and publishing of the Steam page! In the first 2 weeks since the Steam page has dropped Scraps Of The Machine has received over 3k wishlists! A huge milestone to hit this early on as a solo developer, thank you all so much! I'll be sharing more preview footage and screenshots when there is enough progress to do so. Most importantly there will be a public Steam Playtest next month! So keep an eye out for that very soon! In the meantime right now most attention is going into polishing up the player experience and general look and feel. Here is a very early grey box look at the updated Garage/Bunker experience, previously it was only a blank screen! Not very interesting to look at. Might also add slight aesthetic changes based on the location of the Garage the player is at in the world?…
