  • New items and the road to Early Access - 19 September 2026

New items and the road to Early AccessWow, it's been a long time since I last posted an update on here! But I'm happy to say it's because I've been very busy working on StoneSpace.Wetlands biome improvementsI've made quite a few changes to the newly added Wetlands biome, including new resources, like reeds, improved water effects, and riverbanks.Clay and adobeI've also been adding the latest batch of new items and crafting mechanics to the game, specifically adobe and clay, including the game's first kiln. This is a substantial step forward technologically, as it unlocks new building options, including smelters for refining ores into metal.New save systemThe save system has also been overhauled. I'll spare you the boring technical details, but essentially it just means that any saved games (from Early Access onwards) should be compatible with all future versions of the game. So you neve…

  • Progress update: new biome and map mechanics - 25 June 2026

First of all, a massive thank you to everyone who downloaded, played or wishlisted StoneSpace during Steam Next Fest (or just in general!). Seeing people get sucked in and play for hours is incredible and gives me so much faith in the game’s future ☺️Now, a short update on how things are progressing with StoneSpace.A new biome has been added: the wetlands! This area provides access to both fresh and stagnant water, which is essential in early crafting recipes. There’s also edible cattails and other unique flora. It’s still very much a work in progress, but coming along very nicely I think! It’s also the last biome to add before releasing in early access, which is exciting!I’m currently working on adding the game’s map system. This allows you to craft a map and then update it periodically with areas you’ve explored, gradually filling the gaps. There’s a fair bit of coding still to do her…

  • Demo patch released 30/05/26 - 30 May 2026

Hi everyone!I just released what I hope will be the last update to the demo prior to Steam Next Fest in a couple of weeks. Changes include:Doubled the durability of tools, so you spend less time crafting new ones and more time advancing.Expanded tutorials.A clear end goal for the demo: craft a flint saw.Skipping the intro lore no longer skips the tutorial as well.A few small bug fixes.

  • Demo update May 2026 - 7 May 2026

I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has provided feedback on the first demo of StoneSpace so far.Based on your comments, I have recently made some improvements to the game.To streamline the onboarding process, I have slightly tightened the introductory dialogue and expanded the tutorials to explain more of the game’s core mechanics.I have also made it much easier for you to send me feedback or provide bug reports by adding new menu buttons.I will continue to listen and respond to your feedback and with your help make StoneSpace as good as it can possibly be!Thank you for playing and keep having fun!

  • Demo delays and call for beta testers - 9 April 2026

Demo delays and call for beta testersUnfortunately, the first demo of StoneSpace will be delayed due to an intermittent glitch that is causing the game to close on launch. I’m investigating the root cause but it’s one of those tricky technical problems that could take a while to fix.In the meantime, I’m actively seeking volunteers to help me test the game. Since this issue happens intermittently, and only on some machines, I need to collect as much data as possible from a range of payers. This will also be a great opportunity to gather your feedback on the core systems and gameplay. If this project interests you and you’d like the chance to help bring it to life, as well as getting early access to the demo, please let me know in the comments and I’ll get a Steam key sent your way soon.Thank you.

  • Tech Tree Tease: Wood Nettles - 13 February 2026

Welcome to the second instalment of Tech Tree Tease! In this series, I give you a sneak peek at a small fraction of StoneSpace's vast, complicated crafting tree. The humble wood nettle is the start of a long crafting chain, leading into cordage, textiles, and even some basic chemistry. Its firm, flexible fibres make the stem perfect for use as primitive, natural cordage, utilised in a wide range of early crafting and construction recipes.Once retted and prepared, its fibres can be extracted, refined, and spun, for use in textiles and rope making.Even its leaves serve as simple bedding or can be used to construct small pouches for transporting loose items like gravel and seeds.Besides its crafting applications, it also has culinary uses. What would you like to see in the next instalment of Tech Tree Tease? Drop me a message!

  • Feature focus 2: Digging - 13 January 2026

Feature Focus: DiggingIn StoneSpace, there are many different ways to gather the raw materials you need for crafting and construction. After crafting a shovel, one of them is digging directly into the ground beneath your feet to extract resources, like grass, soil, clay, sand, gravel, and more.Different ground, different resourcesNot all ground is the same. Forest floors, grassy plains, wetlands, beaches, and riverbanks all have their own makeup, and digging reflects that. A forest floor yields decomposing leaf litter at the surface, while grassy plains give way to soil, clay, and eventually gravel.Depth mattersAs you dig down, the chances of finding certain materials change. Clay, for example, becomes more common at greater depths, while surface materials disappear entirely.Digging changes the worldDigging holes creates uneven terrain, preventing you from placing buildings on top of it…

  • Tech Tree Tease: Wood - 20 December 2025

Tech Tree Tease: WoodWelcome to the first instalment of Tech Tree Tease! In this series, I'll give you a sneak peek at a small fraction of StoneSpace's vast, complicated crafting tree.Today's image showcases just some of the items that can be obtained from trees. Many of these require specific tools and/or crafting stations to make.Wood is a very early-game resource. What is pictured is just the start of a long crafting journey through hundreds of items of increasing complexity. And wood isn't the only resource trees provide! Resin, sap, nuts, leaves... everything has its use. What would you like to see in the next instalment of Tech Tree Tease? Rope making? Early chemistry? Cooking? Drop me a message if you'd like to see more!

  • Progress Update - 6th Dec 2025 - 6 December 2025

Progress Update - 6th Dec 2025I’ll be sharing regular summaries like this to give you a peek of what I’ve been working on behind the scenes, and show the progress being made. It’s also a nice way to preview some of the systems you’ll get to experiment with when the game releases 😊Recent Updates:Added waste mechanic to fires. Now, burning different fuels produces different waste byproducts, such as ash, which have their own crafting applications.Added the container mechanic. Some items can only be carried inside other items. For example, loose materials like sand and gravel must be transported in bags or sacks, while liquids can only be stored in watertight flasks.Updated the aesthetics of the forest biome, giving it a unique atmosphere.Next Steps in the Pipeline:Add the shovel mechanic, allowing the player to dig into the ground to collect raw materials.Add string and rope.Make graphic…

  • Feature focus 1: Biomes - 29 November 2025

ExplorationAlthough StoneSpace is, at its heart, a crafting game, exploration plays an equally important role. To craft the hundreds of items you’ll need, you’ll have to journey far from your starting point and gather resources from a variety of biomes. Each biome has its own identity: a distinct atmosphere, visual tone, and unique selection of raw materials to exploit. Today’s announcement highlights a few of these areas. These are all still works in progress, but they give you a good flavour of the vibrant world you’ll explore in StoneSpace. The BeachThere are several beaches in the game, but the one shown here is perhaps the most important. The South Beach is where your adventure begins. You awake washed ashore, alone and empty-handed, your lifepod lost somewhere beneath the waves. You can find rocks and limestone washed ashore, and the cliffs provide a source of sandstone (with the rig…
