hi everyone. if youve been keeping up with piecewise, you might know that we were on the verge of the demo re-release, with a big update and a browser version on itchio. and we still are, i didnt lose the code or anything, but my priorities have been shifted a bitlast month, my childhood dog died. her name was Mia, she was a siberian husky, and she was by my side through high school, through college, through my graduation, and while i found my way in the world and discovered what i wanted to do in my life. she lived for 14 years, and for the past handful, i made time every week to visit her and give her a walk, even as she got older and couldnt walk as far or run as much.i loved her a lot, and so i've been working on a new super-small-scale project: a tribute game for her where you can take her for a short walk.it's a very important project to me, so i really need to get it right, and s…

new update!now that a lot of the baseline fixes and improvements are done, i'm moving on to bigger features/changes as we get closer to the full release. so i started out with adding a player-requested feature: Quick Retry! the goal was to let you start over super easily if you lose some time, so you can reset the board and get a fresh start with just a few quick clicks :)(theres also some minor improvements and fixes all around the game, including a big bug in the tutorial when you use a gamepad)v0.20 Changelog:fixed a bug where gamepad-specific code was running in the tutorial even if you were using a mouse, causing slots to incorrectly select themselves automaticallyadded animations to the onscreen control prompts, now they slide in/out when the game starts!added quick-retry to practice runs ONLYadded hotkey to start the game (on the timer menu) and begin a practice run (on the resul…

- Smaller Update: Font Changes + New Menu Animations (v0.18.1) - 17 March 2026
I meant to have this update out WAY faster, but my refrigerator broke last week, so EVERYTHING has kind of been a mess since then :( BUT now that it's finally finished, this update changes the font in a few places to be a bit more readable (ESPECIALLY when it comes to numbers, the previous blocky font was a bit hard to read sometimes)...and I've also overhauled a bunch of the main menu animations, where the menu pages slide on/offscreen! I separated all the elements so I can give them all distinct movements / timings, and I think it looks pretty nice.Anyways, that's it! It really is a super small update, but the font change was so important that I wanted to get it uploaded as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience, and more updates coming soon!v0.18.1 Changelog:Changed font from the old block one to a more rounded readable font for MANY places around the game (the old blocky font is…
- Demo Updates! Custom Mouse Cursor, Timer Updates, + more to come :P (v0.18) - 5 March 2026
Th is is actually the SECOND Piecewise Demo update, but I posted the first one as a "Small Update" on the MAIN Piecewise game, which made it not show up on the demo, so basically nobody saw it. whoopsyou can view the mouse cursor update details here, though! As for this second update, there's a bunch of minor changes, with the biggest one being a new +/- 1 second button on the timer menu! this should help alleviate "skill breakpoints" where you'd have to get better by 5 whole seconds in order to lower your time. now you have more precise timer control, and can still lower your timer without needing to break a 5 second barrier!v0.18 Changelog:fixed text alignment on results screen leaderboard displaysadded +/- 1 second buttons to the timer menufixed oversized collision boxes for commentary nodes and the commentary togglefixed bug where leaderboard would not correctly highlight your score…
- Mouse Cursor Patch! v0.17.03 - 28 February 2026
it's the first update for piecewise!for those who have been following the development of the game, you'd know that there WAS a custom cursor that didn't make it into the live demo build. HOWEVER, the cursor itself in the build ended up having more than a few issues, and i had to disable the custom spriteBut now, it's fixed! All the cursor issues were caused by my Unity version, which unfortunately means that all the time I spent trying to fix them was a bit of a waste, since they weren't caused by me :(But in the end, what's important is that it's fixed, and I'll be sending out more updates with more improvements very soon!Changes:fixed bug where the mouse cursor would get stuck on a "resize" or "busy" sprite when entering the game windowfixed bug where the cursor would sometimes break on linuxre-implemented the custom mouse cursorThanks for playing, and expect regular updates for a bit…
- Piecewise Demo NOW AVAILABLE for Steam Next Fest!!! - 23 February 2026
for such a small-scale game, this was STRESSFUL, so I didn't have a ton of time to do marketing or promo videos. but i kind of HAD to have everything ready for Next Fest, so...the Piecewise demo is now LIVE! It's got two basic boards for you to play, as well as a few developer commentary nodes scattered around. The demo will be available forever, so if you like the content, feel free to keep on playing it as much as you want. It'll also have cross-save with the full game
