We’re thrilled to finally announce that METRO 2039 is set to launch on all platforms on February 4th 2027!* In addition, we can confirm that a 60FPS Performance Mode with ray tracing support will be available at launch for the Xbox Series X™, PlayStation® 5 and PlayStation® 5 Pro consoles. We’ll be sharing much more about the technology, specs and different modes powering all editions of METRO 2039 in the months between now and release. Between Doom, Half-Life, Battlefield, and Counter-Strike, the FPS formula has been smoothed and perfected. Mechanically, the genre is straightforward. Aim your gun, shoot enemies, and don't get shot yourself. But it's the finer details that make one shooter different from the next. Doom Eternal, for example, has the ultra-fast movement and the meathook shotgun. Titanfall 2 has free-running and the set-piece mech sections. And in Metro, it's all about the equipment. Weapons fall to pieces. Kinetic flashlights have to be recharged. Your gas mask gets covered with water and mud. These may seem superficial, but in practice, they make Metro 2033, Last Light, and Metro Exodus some of the tensest FPS games of the last 20 years - and now you can get them all for $7. - Saber is actually rescuing more studios from Embracer than was announced - and that includes Metro dev 4A - 14 March 2024
You know how we recently learned that Saber Interactive was gaining its independence from the terrifying embrace of Embracer Group ? Well, Embracer’s now officially confirmed that the sale has gone through for a quoted sum of $247 million, but its official announcement looks to have cheekily left out telling you that some of the key studios Saber’s taking with it actually seem to be, you know, going with Saber for definite. Yes, Embracer, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, looks to have forgotten to mention that Saber had successfully called dibs on a couple of extra household gadgets during the corporate gaming version of that inevitable big rush to claim family heirlooms whenever one of your relatives passes away.
