- City of Sin: The Nocturne Files – Hotfix - 12 September 2026
A small new build has been released to address a startup issue affecting the Steam version of the game. Following an update to Steam's integration, the previous build could encounter an error during startup due to a compatibility issue between the version of Ren'Py used to build the game and Steam's updated API. This build updates the game to the latest Ren'Py version and its updated Steam integration. Changes: Updated Ren'Py engine Updated Steam integration Fixed an issue that could prevent the game from launching through Steam There are no changes to story content or saves in this build — it's purely a compatibility hotfix. Thanks for your patience, and apologies to anyone who ran into the issue! ❤️ — DoAdventures
- Steam Timeline error - 12 September 2026
I've put the game back to the working version whilst I figure out what has changed in Steam
- Achievement Patch Test - 12 September 2026
I believe I've found the sneaky little button from the launcher to enable this and it explains why when I didn't do anything different from this game to my other game except building it on my other PC and a different Ren'Py launcher.
- Achievement Test - 29 May 2026
I've currently updated two lines of code to try and resolve the Achievements issue.
- Tricity is growing… and I could really use your help. - 22 May 2026
Episode 2 is finally here and it’s by far the biggest update I’ve ever worked on: • Nearly 99,000 words in total • 2,948 renders across Episodes 1 & 2 • 33 animations • 22 achievements • Multiple routes, choices, investigations, dreams, fights and consequencesI’ve spent a huge amount of time building City of Sin and pushing the world, characters and atmosphere further with every update. But one thing I’ve learned very quickly is that Steam visibility depends massively on reviews and engagement.Right now, the game has some genuinely amazing feedback, but not enough reviews for Steam to really start pushing it out to more people. So if you’ve enjoyed City of Sin, connected with Kate, liked the atmosphere, the mystery, the choices, Amanda, the massage routes, or just enjoyed spending time in the game...Please consider leaving a Steam review.Even short reviews genuinely make a massive differe…
- Episode 2 - 21 May 2026
Episode 2 includes: • 2,948 renders • 33 animations • Almost 99,000 words • 3.2 GB of content • 22 achievements • A brand new walkthrough system • A ridiculous amount of branching choices This episode goes far deeper into Tricity’s underbelly, relationships, corruption, manipulation, therapy sessions, dreams, conspiracies, assassinations, romance, and some moments I genuinely cannot wait to see people react to. Fight the muscle mommy. Join the muscle mommy. Avoid the muscle mommy entirely. Or just sit with coffee and slowly uncover the city’s secrets.
- It Is Time - 21 May 2026
After what feels like forever… I’m finally aiming to release Episode 2 of City of Sin tonight or tomorrow.Just a few final things left:Final walkthrough passSmall round of testingFinal translationsUploading everythingFinal numbers for the full game are now sitting at:• 2,948 renders • 33 animations • Almost 99,000 words • 22 achievements • A brand new walkthrough system • An unhealthy amount of choicesAnd yeah… this episode goes places.Massage choices and who you trust. Assassination jobs tied to your preferred relationships and desires. Fight, don’t fight, join or don’t join the muscle mommy. Or ignore the chaos entirely and spend the night drinking coffee while digging through research and conspiracy threads.Dreams. Therapy sessions. The underbelly of Tricity. An unwanted guest. And finally……standing at the door of the masquerade party.I’m genuinely really proud of this one. Episode 2…
- 📢 Development Update – Final Stretch - 1 May 2026
I'm now in the final stretch of development for the next update of City of Sin – The Nocturne Files. What started as a continuation has grown into something much larger, with significant additions across story, characters, walkthrough and optional content.📊 Progress OverviewSince the original release:Renders: 1,693 → 2,811+Animations: 11 → 27Averaging around 280 renders per monthThis update has more than expanded the game, it’s deepened it, especially through optional encounters and branching paths.🧩 Where Am I NowThe majority of content is now complete. What remains is focused on:Final scene transitions and continuityPost-event sequences (returning home, wind-down scenes, etc.)A small number of additional narrative momentsFinal integration of message/choice systemsPolishing and flow between key story beatsThere are only a handful of scenes left to implement, primarily short, connectiv…
- Alright, time for a proper update 👇 - 26 March 2026
A lot of progress has been made since the last post and things are really starting to come together now. Most of the core content for this update is in place, including new scenes, character interactions, and expanded mission content. I’ve also spent some time adding variation to certain paths so things feel less linear depending on how you approach it.The story is beginning to open up more, and some of the underlying themes are starting to come through in a bigger way. From a content perspective, the game has now grown to over 2,400 renders, with an additional 280+ renders in the promo/fan art folder, alongside 22 animations, so there’s a lot here in terms of both visual content and progression.Right now I’m finishing off the remaining pieces and putting together one of the bigger sequences that will lead directly into the next chapter. Not quite ready yet, but I'm getting close. As always…
- Development Update – City of Sin: The Nocturne Files - 22 February 2026
Progress is continuing steadily, and things are really starting to take shape now.Current Development Stats:2,099 total renders in-gameWord count holding steady (for now 👀)Animation count unchanged… but a brand-new animation is being finalised today once the render stitching is complete. What’s New Behind the Scenes:✔ The first optional repeatable encounter is now complete (Lila). This marks the beginning of a more player-driven system where your choices outside the core narrative start to matter more.I’m now working on:Marcus’ repeatable routeFollowed by a… mystery option 👀These events are designed to escalate subtly on return visits, building tension and consequence rather than just repeating content.Story & World ExpansionThe sewer tunnel system is now built for Kate and Geoff to investigate.Expect some tension…A few laughs…And one pair of high heels that absolutely were not designe…
- City of Sin Ep2 - 21 January 2026
The next phase of City of Sin – The Nocturne Files are well underway, and things are already moving faster than I expected. So far, progress includes:140 new renders completed (~1200 to 1800 expected)7,429 new words written (and counting)A brand-new animation addedFoundations laid for deeper, repeatable interactions and more player-driven momentsI’ll also be beginning work on the masquerade party very soon, and honestly I can’t wait to get Kate back into that outfit again for you all. That sequence has been living rent-free in my head for a while now. This update continues to focus on expanding player agency, not just pushing the story forward, but giving you more room to shape Kate’s day-to-day decisions, relationships, and consequences. Including more detail on her background.Below are a few early sneak previews from the new work 👀 (Still very much in progress, but I couldn’t resist sh…
- 🛠️ New Interactive Systems Update – Player Agency & Repeatable Encounters - 17 January 2026
I am so happy and really rather proud of myself, I’ve just finished implementing a new optional interaction system in City of Sin – The Nocturne Files, and I wanted to briefly explain what it does and why it matters going forward. This new functionality that will be introduced in the next update provides players with out of story interactions that exist alongside the main narrative rather than inside it.What does that mean?Certain encounters are now:OptionalPlayer initiatedPersistentAnd aware of past choicesRather than being forced story beats, these moments arrive naturally via Kate’s phone and the player decides if, when, and how to engage with them. You can:Respond immediatelyPut it offDecline entirelyOr return later with the game remembering what you did the last timeNo timers. No punishment. No “wrong” choice.🔁 Repeat Visits, Escalation & MemoryIf you choose to return to an encounte…
- 🌍 Community-Driven Language Update Now Live! - 10 January 2026
Hi everyone,Thanks to ongoing feedback and requests from the community, I’m happy to say that I’ve now resolved the translation and font issues, and the game has been updated with the following language support:ChineseFrenchGermanItalianRussianSpanishTurkishThis update improves readability and font rendering across all supported languages, making the experience more accessible for a much wider audience.Your messages, reviews, and discussions genuinely helped push this forward and more languages are already planned as development continues.I’ll be updating the store page shortly to reflect the new language support. As always, thank you for playing, for the feedback (good and bad), and for helping shape City of Sin - The Nocturne Files.— DoAdventures
- City of Sin – FAQ & Design Notes - 9 January 2026
City of Sin – FAQ & Design Notes ❓ What kind of game is City of Sin? City of Sin is a narrative driven adult visual novel with psychological, investigative, and erotic themes. It blends choice driven intimacy with long form character development, trauma processing, and gradual world building. This is not a “scene-to-scene” adult slideshow. The erotic content is deliberate, contextual, and tied to character state and player choice. ❓ Who is Kate, and what is she doing? Kate is not an avatar and not a blank slate. She is: Former special operations.Trauma survivor with dissociative tendencies.Currently working covertly, under surveillance.Actively resisting both emotional attachment and self-destruction.Episode 1 is intentionally written to place the player inside her head, before fully explaining her history. Her backstory, motivations, and how she ended up working with Mitchell are expand…
- Episode 2 Has Begun – The Nocturne Files Continue - 8 January 2026
Episode 2 of City of Sin – The Nocturne Files is officially underway.I’ve just pushed a hotfix update to address a small issue, and with that out of the way, development on Episode 2 has now properly begun.Where Episode 1 focused on tone, character, and laying the foundations of Kate’s world, Episode 2 shifts gears. What Episode 2 Is AboutEpisode 2 expands player agency and begins introducing repeatable encounters, systems that let players re-engage with characters and situations over time, rather than experiencing everything once and moving on.At launch, this will likely begin with two repeatable encounters, but more importantly, it establishes the framework that allows these systems to grow and evolve across future episodes. This means:More player-driven choices outside of linear story beatsOptional encounters that can escalate over timeA world that reacts to what you pursue and what yo…
- I'm Nearly There! City of Sin First Release Update - 24 November 2025
Hey everyone, quick but exciting update!I’m now working on the final scene for the first release of City of Sin and I got the Steam Store Page approved. This update is a big one and once this last batch of renders is done, all that’s left is to slot in the remaining script and polish everything. That means the first release is officially right around the corner.⭐ A quick favour (that helps a lot)If you’re supporting me Patreon or SubscribeStar, you’ll already receive City of Sin as part of your tier. You do NOT need to buy it on Steam. But, I would be incredibly grateful if you could wishlist the game anyway, even if you never plan to buy it there.Wishlists help Steam’s algorithm show the game to new people, and the early support means the game gets a stronger launch and more visibility. It’s one of the simplest but biggest boosts you can give.👉 City of Sin - The Nocturne files Episode 1T…
- ✨ City of Sin – Update - 22 November 2025
I’m officially working on the final scene for this first release of City of Sin. It’s a big one (because of course it is), but once this scene is done, that’s it — all renders for this build will be complete. After that, I’ll move on to integrating the last of the script and doing a full pass to make sure everything flows the way it should. I'm very close now. 📊 Current Content Stats Renders: 1,365 Animations: 7 Words: 58,814 Estimated Playtime: 4.4 to 6.5 hours, depending on reading speed and route choices 📱 New Phone System This build also includes the brand-new phone system, which isn’t just visual dressing — it now: Acts as a choice interface in certain scenes Shows messages, calls, and key info seamlessly inside the story Future updates will expand it further with: A full Gallery Customisable wallpapers Additional preferences And the ability to initiate calls when appropriate in…
