Hey everyone,I just posted the first Dark Engines dev log, where I talk through the early vision for the game, some of the design concepts, and what were trying to build with this dark-fantasy car combat project.Dark Engines is a brutal medieval car combat game where armored juggernauts battle with explosives, magic, and heavy metal. The goal is to bring back the feeling of classic arena car combat, but twist it into a darker fantasy world filled with strange drivers, boss battles, team modes, and vehicles that feel more like characters than simple machines. - Amazing First Week! + Steam Art Behind-the-Scenes - 20 April 2026
To celebrate 1 week of Dark Engines we wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes look at how our Steam capsule art came together starting as a hand-painted piece by my brother. The painting was done with acrylic on hardboard. We kind of wanted to go for an old school Magic the Gathering card look or something so we chose to do a real painting. Then I couldn't find a print shop with the machinery to scan a painting this large into digital so I ended up taking a high res photo of it with a Camera (Sony A74) and then doing a final photoshop pass.
