- A Million Deeds - 30 March 2020
Many thanks to more than a million players who activated The Deed for free this weekend! I hope that you'll enjoy it. It was one of the first games I ever made, and I'm really thrilled that so many people will be experiencing it for the first time. If you want something else that's free to play, then you could also check out the first episode of the Space Pilgrim saga. This is the opening chapter of an epic series of point-and-click adventure games in a futuristic setting inspired by the likes of Firefly, The Expanse, Star Trek, and too many other influences to name. Or if you enjoyed The Deed and want more of the same, then there's a standalone expansion called The Deed: Dynasty which offers three new murder scenarios set in different time periods: Medieval, Victorian and the Old West. This game is 60% off at the moment. Also, The Deed II is currently in the late stages of Early Access…

- The Deed II Now on Steam Early Access! - 15 November 2019
https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F33066823%2F9353f5193a8b925df30e3e6b112b0ff7e6fcdc68.jpg Why Early Access? “The Deed II is a very complex game with a lot of different variables and possible outcomes. We feel that actively involving a large number of players in its development will help us to achieve its fullest potential.” What is the current state of the Early Access version? “The game will already be fully playable when entering early access, though it is likely to have a few bugs or inconsistencies in its present state. It already contains all of the features that are listed on the store page. Refer to the "About This Game" section for more details.” Wishlist/Buy on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1155660/The_Deed_II/
- The Deed II, Preview #4: "When the Deed is Done" - 6 November 2019
This will probably be the final one of these previews, as we're planning to release the game into Early Access fairly soon. None of the other Pilgrim Adventures games have ever used Early Access, but due to the complexity of The Deed II, I feel that it could very helpful to involve a number of players in the final stages of the game's development. So if you want to be a part of that process, you can - or if you'd rather just play the finished product then you can wait a short while for the full release. Meanwhile, onto the preview! Perhaps the most intense and engaging part of any Deed game takes place after the murder has been committed and you're being interrogated by the inspector. Here we will cover some of the details about how that element is handled in The Deed II. https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F33753618%2F12b9a8c7a31bf7c9c6a53c8063ceef1f0e3f70db%25E2%2580%25A6
- The Deed II, Preview #3: "A Dynamic Environment" - 21 October 2019
And we're back! This third preview covers most of the new elements in the game's enviroment which didn't exist in the previous entries of The Deed series. https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F33753618%2F2d2223177347bd912ae9a6d922747e9f2c5179f8.png NPC Movement As was mentioned in the last preview, there are certain key NPCs who will move around the brothel according to their own personal schedules. Perhaps they will need to get some fresh air, or take a trip to the bathroom, or head upstairs with a client. This movement can have numerous consequences. For example, if you ask someone about another character while that person is still standing within earshot, the subject of your curiosity might become offended. Whereas if they have already moved elsewhere, the person with whom you're conversing could be more open to expressing their true feelings about them. Th…
- The Deed II, Preview #2: "Time" - 7 October 2019
Aside from the enhanced graphics and character portraits, probably the most notable difference between The Deed II and its predecessors will be the way in which the passage of time is handled. https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F33753618%2F844d6d3ca9655ab0ae38567ae3cc935c30765a6f.png Game Time In the previous games of The Deed series, each scenario was divided into certain sections - e.g. exploration, dinner time, planting evidence. The next section would begin only once the player had completed certain actions, such as picking up two items from around the house. The Deed II will be the first game in the series to have a realistic time system which comes complete with an on-screen clock. The player will have up to one hour in "game time" to explore the building, talk to the patrons and gather/plant evidence before finally committing the murder. Game time wil…
- The Deed II, Preview #1: "The Setting" - 23 September 2019
With The Deed II set to be released later on this year, I thought it would be nice to whet your appetites in the meantime by posting a few previews of different aspects of the game. This first one will focus on some of the research behind the setting of the game – a Parisian brothel during the interwar years. This was an era of great change for the city of love, and for French society in general. Class divisions were slowly eroding, for various reasons. The status and role of women in society was becoming increasing fluid, and children were often much better educated than their parents. That said, Paris was not without its fair share of problems – and some of the old social divisions did still hold true. Across the city there was a significant housing shortage, with many families forced to live together in cramped apartments with only a couple of rooms, sleeping on folding cots in their…

- The Future of Pilgrim Adventures - 1 April 2019
With the release of Space Pilgrim Academy: Reunion last weekend, I wanted to give all of you folks an update on what's happening with this series and the future of Pilgrim Adventures in general. Although Reunion is the concluding chapter of what can be referred to as the Latona story arc, focusing on Maggie's search for her mother, you'll probably get the sense that there's still more story left to tell. There's been some discussion and speculation on the forums about how many years there are at the Pilgrim Space Academy, and the answer is that there are six. This means Maggie and her fellow cadets are only halfway through their time at the academy. So, the intention is to create a second story arc which would cover years 4 through 6 and possibly beyond. However ... this won't happen immediately. I've been almost exclusively working on the Academy games for nearly two years now, and dur…
