  • Patch/Fixes on top of Challenge Update - 5 October 2026

A smaller update after the big one, mostly about roads. Roads No more steps or folds where a road crosses from one piece of terrain to the next. Junctions sit level on the ground, and branches turn onto them cleanly. Roads no longer run into lakes. Gentler roadsides instead of rock walls, and fences no longer stand on the road. Dirt two-tracks have bare ruts with grass down the middle. Map Dirt two-tracks are drawn as dashed 504 Vehicle track. Small legend fixes. Fixes Faster terrain generation, and a long freeze in "Generating Roads" on some maps is gone. A replay always shows the map it was run on. Deleting a map in Recent Maps also deletes Rob's run on it. The loading bar fills all the way when the map is ready. The Start button on the loading screen shows its key: Enter, or A on a controller. The roads moved on every seed, so maps differ from 5.0.4 and the current challenges start f…

  • Challenges Update - 4 October 2026

Orienteers! Our biggest update yet. Async multiplayer is now the default, and you can now race the community directly in-game in Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly challenges. The forest has a whole new look, and the world has grown roads, trails, cliffs and wildlife, with no map edge to run into; as our name implies, we're now truly infinite. Courses are planned the way a course setter would plan them, and a map can now carry its own rules. Another bump in graphics and gameplay The game now renders on Unity's Universal Render Pipeline, with a new ground, new skies, new forest and meadow vegetation, ambient occlusion and tuned lighting. The sun now lines up with each sky, so shadows fall where the sky says they should. Roads and trails have been completely reworked and look much prettier. Wildlife: deer, hares and other forest animals roam the animal trails and bolt when you come chargin…

  • Make It Yours - 16 August 2026

Here's a quick update on top of our recent Major Graphics Update. Since then, we've rebuilt the entire interface, put you in control of how the game looks, sounds and feels, filled the forest with life, and pushed the maps closer to real orienteering standards. We hope that the game will feel more like a cohesive unit. Here's everything new. Replays worth watching Replays are now filmed in the same world you ran in, with a first-person footage camera and a video preview. See your route play back the way you actually ran it while analysing the replay map. Recorded video preview. A brand-new interface Every screen — the main menu, the in-run HUD, the pause menu, replays and recent maps — has been redrawn from the ground up with a clean, consistent "paper map" theme. Menus are sharper, convey more information and options, easier to read, and faster to move through, including full controlle…

  • Graphics Overhaul, Basic Multiplayer, Improved Analysis - 30 July 2026

Our biggest update yet A full visual overhaul of the terrain, async multiplayer so you can race yourself or your friends' ghosts using our share feature, a new Recent Maps hub, split analysis, map sharing, and Steam Deck support. Terrain & Visual Overhaul The world looks dramatically better and plays taller Facelift across all forest types and dense forest, with new trees and foliage Reworked grass and vegetation for every biome, with stronger biome-to-biome contrast Grass now renders far into the distance (roughly out to 200m) 3x more verticality, terrain is now much more mountainous and vertical, the more dramatic landscape enabling more interesting gameplay Photoscanned mountain environment assets feeding the new look Async Multiplayer (File Based) — Share Maps and Race Friends A first step into multiplayer: race against other people's runs, asynchronously Every map now has a shareab…

  • Score-O and Full Controller Support - 25 April 2026

A brand new game mode, complete controller support across every menu, plus some fixes and quality-of-life improvements. New Game Mode: Score-OScore-O — collect controls in any order. New Game Mode dropdown in the New Game menu, also wired into "Randomize All". Controls you've already punched are crossed out on the map. Full Controller Support in MenusYou can now play start to finish without touching a keyboard or mouse. Proper navigation across the Main Menu, New Game Menu, Settings and the Replay scene. Controller numpad for typing seeds and numeric values with the d-pad and face buttons. On-screen menu hints with colored A/B/X/Y prompts. Press Esc or B to cancel and go back from any menu — including the Main Menu. Bigger in-focus elements and auto-scroll inside long dropdowns. Cursor hides automatically when you switch to controller; selection and hover work together cleanly. Replay S…

  • 3D Replay and Dev Mode - 6 March 2026

Hey orienteers!Thank you all for the great interest in the game. We're happily surprised by the response we've had since our early access launch. In the latest update, we have a some new functionality for you.3D Replay We've added the option to height displace the map in the replay mode, giving a better sense of terrain and contours. You're able to set the scale of the displacement to exaggerate height features. Dev ModeBased on initial feedback, we realized that those of you who mostly use the game as an orienteering training tool might be interested in our internal dev tooling, so we've opened it up. If you check the box Dev Mode before starting a new game, then you can press F1 on the keyboard or Right Stick on controller when you're in the game to access dev mode. The Dev Mode features include:Free fly cameraSet and recall player positionsToggle the HUD on or off (this will persist w…
