- June Monthly Update - 30 June 2026
Hi everyone, and welcome to the third monthly update for Lichworks! This month is more of a grab-bag of updates as so much happened this month including an inventory rework and getting more serious about the art by developing a palette and consolidating the art around it. There was also massive work done on the campaign structure but I'm not quite ready to reveal it just yet.A fresh coat of paintA big chunk of my month went into (and is still going into) the art, specifically, into pulling the whole game onto a single, deliberate color palette. This is the v1 of the Lichworks palette. Up until now sprites were drawn fairly ad-hoc, and colors drifted from one asset to the next which adds up to a world that feels noisy and incoherent even when each individual sprite looks fine on its own. - May Monthly Update: Combat - 31 May 2026
Hi everyone, welcome to the second monthly update for Lichworks! In this update I want to showcase a bit of the combat side of minions. The same minion mining ore or hauling resources is the one that can stand its ground against aggression, or be recruited into a retinue on the spot with the recruit ability:Minions in your retinue will follow their leader to the ends of the earth, engage hostile foes, and fulfill commands given by the player from rallying part of your forces to a point, guarding a targe…
- First monthly update! - 30 April 2026
Hi everyone, and welcome to the first monthly update for Lichworks!Since this is the first update since launching the Steam page, I wanted to take the time to explain the vision I have for the game.Lichworks is a necromancer-themed automation strategy game where you play as a lich who seeks to bend the world around him to his will through the use of his undead minions, who serve both as his loyal soldiers and as the backbone of his logistical network.Automation meets StrategyWhen I first decided I wanted to dedicate myself full-time to making a game, I wanted to make something that brought something new to the table. Not just its combination of aesthetic and genre, but something that offers a novel gameplay experience for fans of strategy games who value player agency. What I ended up coming up with is Lichworks, a game combining different features and mechanics from automation and real-…
