PDXCon Remixed is next week, and everyone is hoping that Victoria 3 will be the new grand strategy game announced by Paradox Interactive during the show. Maybe it will be, or maybe we're looking at Europa Universalis 5 or even a new fantasy-themed game, which would be quite cool. But let's be honest, you don't need Victoria 3. Victoria 2 is right there, and it's still pretty boss (if a little old-school by now), and now you can take it to the next level with this Victoria 2 mod that can almost give you a 3D map. It's called Mish Mash Map Mod , and it's a visual mod that attempts to uplift Victoria 2's campaign map so that it looks less flat. Terms like "parallax occlusion mapping" are thrown about a bit, as are "pixels". As you may remember, during Paradox Interactive's recent Paradox Insider event, the company announced that a brand new grand strategy game was going to be announced during the annual PDXCon event in May. Naturally, I joked and said that it could be Victoria 3 , but fans on Reddit are now hotly debating whether it actually will be Victoria 3 or not. The main thing that's got everyone worked up is a bunch of information that's been brought up by user LocalPizzaDelivery in a reddit thread . Essentially, someone potentially affiliated with Paradox trademarked the victoria3.com domain back in 2014, as well as a bunch of other domains. - Victoria II security update May 4th - 4 May 2020
Hi! After discovering a minor potential securty problem we decided to patch the game to correct it. Patch notes: - Fixed additional Lua vulnerabilities This should not change anything noticeable for you in your game. But there is the small possibility that mods you are using may be utilizing the security flaw in a non-malicious way and may therefore stop working with this patch. If that's the case, you can revert your game version by right clicking the game in Steam -> properties -> BETAS and select the "3.04-no_security_fix..." version. Please note that you do that on your own risk! That version does contain a known security flaw! Enjoy!
- Victoria II Security Update - 17 February 2020
Greetings! To resolve a security issue tied to the way LUA libraries were loaded for mods we released a minor update. This update will not change your version number or cheksum, and save files should be unaffected. The update has already been applied through Steam. To prevent IO or system/OS access in Lua (to prevent mods abusing it), we want to disable the `luaopen_io` and `luaopen_os` functions in the LUA library/dll. These are updated LUA libraries with that functionality disabled. This does not change behavior of the base game, or impact the multiplayer checksum. Some mods might use these libraries for benign purposes, but unfortunately they will not function after this fix.

Paradox Development Studio is known for some well-regarded grand strategy titles with notoriously high learning curves such as Europa Universalis and Crusader Kings. In an era where plenty of PC franchises seem to have been streamlined to appeal to a wider market, Paradox hasn't let up in terms of the often almost Byzantine depth (pun intended) its core titles are built on. Studio lead Johan Andersson, speaking to Digitally Downloaded, said that he doesn't think a game has to pick between appealing to a wide audience or being complex. Three new DLC's for Victoria II are now available on Steam! Songs of the Civil War adds nine minutes of music to enhance the atmosphere of Victoria II. German Unit Pack adds updated uniforms and units for German soldiers. This includes units and uniforms for the German Empire, North German Federation, South German Federation and Prussia. Interwar Engineer Unit adds unique uniforms for armies using engineer divisions in the interwar period between WWI and WWII.
