- Menu & Interface - 20 September 2026
Hey brain slashers! We are here to show you how we are working on the next update. Honestly, it's taking us longer than expected. "It's just labels and buttons, how hard can it be" - Someone Said. So in this devlog we want to go over the rabbit holes we had to go through and how is it looking now. Strap in.Our constraintsBefore we go over the individual changes, we want to tell you what rules we have for this game UI & UX.The game allows minimum window size of 640x360 (that means 640 pixels in width and 360 pixels in height). That's a for standard FHD display (1920x1080) one ninth of the space. And in this small space we have to fit all the buttons, visuals and legible text in a way where it does not feel crowded. There is not just English, we have translations, and each language has different length for different words. Something simple as "Accessibility" is in German for example "Barrie…

- RIPPER is coming to Early Access - 28 June 2026
Hello little unheard divers! (Yes, that's you now. Deal with it.)We wanted to inform you that we are moving with Ripper to Early Access on July 10th 2026.This is kind of a big step for us. So please help us with the process of developing this game to your liking! Once Early Access goes live, we are going to take the Free Demo down. We want to receive game feedback from players that actually have some (monetary) attachment to it.Common questionsWe just took questions from our Steam Store Page and put them here for your convenience. Why Early Access? This game is highly focused on community made content, thus we want to work with the community to make the game, and its content creation tools, as accessible as possible.Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access? As there are a lot of planned features still to come, it is hard to estimate how long it will take us to properly rele…

- The Inventory System - 3 May 2026
It has been a while since our last devlog, but we have been busy preparing for what is going to be a wild ride. More on that at the end.Welcome back to the Ripper devlogs! Today we are talking about the inventory system, how we handle different types of items, how they are rendered, how they are stored, and how we keep everything synchronized across multiple players in a multiplayer lobby. To make things concrete, we will use a banana as our running example throughout this post.Factories for ItemsAs covered in our previous devlog about the world, we use factory-based systems throughout the game. The goal is to make Ripper easy to extend and modify, both for us and for the modding community. How do these factories work? Instead of every individual item storing its own attributes; texture, magazine size for guns, collider size for melee weapons, and so on, we create one factory per item ty…
- The Projectile System - 28 February 2026
Note: this article was taken from our blog site. For better format & experience go there.Welcome back to the Ripper devlogs! Today we are diving into how the projectile system works. Fair warning: this one builds heavily on the previous devlog about the world, especially the multi-floor setup and collision layers. If you have not read that one yet, we highly recommend starting there — it will make this a lot easier to follow.Quick Recap and What We NeedAs covered in the last devlog, Ripper is a top-down, multi-floor game. All floors exist in the same physics space but are separated using collision layers — each floor gets its own dedicated layer. This setup works great for the world itself, but it introduces some interesting challenges when you start firing projectiles through it.Here is what the projectile system needs to handle:Work across multiple floors using the collision layer sys…
- Making of the World - 14 February 2026
Note: this article was taken from our blog site. For better format & experience go there.Welcome to the very first devlog for Ripper, our indie top-down shooter! We want to bring you along for the ride as we build this game, sharing the problems we run into and how we solve them. Today we are talking about the world itself — how it is built, how multi-floor buildings work, and how we keep it all running smoothly with multiple players in the same game. What We WantedFrom the start, we had a pretty specific vision. We wanted players to be able to raid multi-floor buildings — blowing up walls, kicking in doors, and wrecking everything in sight, all while playing with friends. We also knew from day one that we wanted to support modding, so the whole system needed to be flexible enough for the community to reshape it however they like. That combination of requirements — multiplayer, multiple f…
