  • Patch 0.1.2: your custom songs and lyrics now repair themselves - 17 September 2026

What changed Assigned songs play where you put them. Profiles saved by an older version could keep a hidden pointer to the built-in track of that slot, so the library showed your song while the run played the original. The game now cleans that up when it starts. Lyrics files are read the way real tools write them. LRC files with three-digit milliseconds, colon separators, single-digit minutes, header tags, several timestamps per line, word tags, Windows line endings, and files saved in GBK, Shift-JIS, EUC-KR, UTF-16 or with a byte order mark all load now. Before, some of them imported fine and then showed no lyrics in the run. The import tells the truth. If a lyrics file has no usable timed lines, the import says so instead of finishing in silence. Your library is checked once When you open the game after this patch, it checks every custom song. Songs with a readable lyrics file are rep…

  • Patch 0.1.1: importing several songs at once now keeps every one of them - 16 September 2026

What changed Multi-song import. When you dropped two or more songs at once, the second one could vanish: the game said "Song imported!", the file was on disk, but the song never reached your library. Every queued song is now written, verified and shown. No more ghost files. A song that cannot be saved to the library is removed from disk instead of lingering on your drive. Small UI fixes Clearer feedback on the import screen: a failed import now says "Import failed" with the song name, instead of a success message. The version shown in the main menu is now 0.1.1. If a song you imported before this patch is missing from your library, drop it again: it will import in one go.

  • PRE 1.0 Update: 1,122 new lyric effects, four rebuilt worlds, 144 fps - 15 September 2026

Hi everyone, This is the biggest update Tied to the Beat has ever had. Over the last month I rebuilt almost everything you see while you play: the lyric effects, the four worlds, your character and the engine underneath. I am calling it PRE 1.0 because this is the game you will get on October 9, when we leave Early Access. Until then I want to see how it runs on your machines, so every report counts. 1,122 lyric effects, made again from zero The heart of the game is the song. When a word appears in the lyrics, the arena reacts. I threw away every old effect and built all 1,122 again, one by one. Every word looks like what it means. FIRE burns, RAIN pours, and the rest follow the same rule. One effect at a time. A new word takes over from the last one, so the arena stays spectacular without turning into noise. Weather over the whole scene. Rain and snow now cover everything while your he…

  • Live all week at devINITIVE Showcase 2026 - 15 September 2026

Tied to the Beat is part of devINITIVE Showcase 2026 and the game is playing live on this page all week, from September 16 to 23. Hit play and you will see a full session: the lyrics fly across the arena to the beat, each word sets off its own effect and the world changes with the song. What you are watching Every lyric is a weapon. When a word shows up, the arena reacts to it: fire, rain, snow, light, all in time with the music. Four worlds. Evergreen Forest, Neon Desert, Snowy Aurora and Volcano, with rivers, bridges and whirlpools. Eight instruments. Guitar, violin, flute, piano, drum, microphone, tambourine and trumpet, each with its own attack. 52 songs in 31 languages, and you can import your own music and the game reads its lyrics. PRE 1.0 is coming very, very, very soon (maybe already out) This is the new build: 1,122 lyric effects made again from zero, the four worlds rebuilt a…

  • Tied to the Beat is live at the Steam PvE Survival Crafting Fest - 1 September 2026

Tied to the Beat is part of the Steam PvE Survival Crafting Fest, running from August 31 to September 7. To celebrate it, the game is live on this page for the whole fest and beyond. What you will see on stream: Songs where the lyrics are the weapons. Each word triggers its own effect on screen: fire, rain, love, all of it. 8 characters, each with a hidden stat tied to the rhythm. Drum hits harder at low HP. Piano fires on downbeats. The final chorus of every track turns into a Hell wave built from the real structure of the song. Custom MP3 support: drop in any track and the game reacts to its lyrics. The demo is free. Try it while you watch, and if you like what you see, the full game is right here. Everything you see is my own work, engine included, written from scratch in TypeScript.

  • Update 0.0.4 | New icons and smoother performance - 26 August 2026

Hi everyone, We've given the whole game a visual pass with this one: - New icon set across the entire game. Every upgrade, relic and path choice now has its own icon, designed so you can tell what it does at a glance. - All 45 achievements have new art. Each one is now a vinyl record with its own design inside. Worth a look at your collection. - Performance improvements in the busiest late-game moments, so the frame rate holds up when the screen gets crowded. - Various smaller fixes and polish.

  • Update 0.0.3: smoother loading and stability - 10 August 2026

This update focuses on loading behavior and stability. - The loading bar shown when returning to the menu now reflects the real progress of the reload. Previously it filled up early and stayed at 100%, which made the game look frozen. - Reduced the frame hitch that could happen while a run starts, when visual effects are prepared behind the curtain. The pause is around 20% shorter, with no visual changes. - Fixed a rare issue where the game could stay at very low FPS after recovering from a crash during a run. - Fixed an internal error that caused a failed file request on some runs. Thanks for playing and for reporting issues.

  • Update 0.0.2 | Discord Rich Presence and bug fixes - 3 August 2026

NEW Discord Rich Presence: your current run, song and mode are shown on your Discord profile while you play. FIXES Fixed a defeat being able to count as a win and completing the daily wins challenge. Fixed the draft reroll being able to return the same offer that was just rerolled. Fixed the victory menu clipping its actions on some resolutions. Thanks for the reports. If you find an issue, please share it on our Discord and it will be addressed in an upcoming patch.

  • We are live, thank you - 31 July 2026

We are live Tied to the Beat is out. After five years on my own, people I have never met are playing it right now, and that is a very strange and very good feeling. Thank you. I am also streaming on the store page for the next two weeks if you want to watch me play it badly. It is 3.99 USD until August 14, 20% off, if you are still deciding. • Tied to the Beat demo drops April 27 · Eastern Game Fest 2026 - 23 April 2026

Hey music fans and survivors! On April 27 the Tied to the Beat demo drops on Steam, and we will be officially taking part in the Eastern Game Fest 2026 (April 27 to May 5, 2026). 🎙️ How the combat actually works Every song ships with a time-synced lyrics file (.lrc). As the track plays, each lyric line is matched against a glossary of 755 tagged triggers. A match fires an effect live on the arena: stat buffs (damage, movement speed, fire rate, range, armor, healing), weather (rain, wind, darkness), player auras, screen effects, or shifts in enemy behavior (panic, slow, speed up). Seven effect strategies run in parallel: four themed suites with their own visuals and identity (Haven, Vampire, Another-One, Bad-Joke), plus three that cover generic buffs, debuffs and the wider glossary. The song stops being background and starts pulling real weight in your run. 🎮 What's in the demo • 2 pla…
