  It's been a long journey since we first launched Epic Snails back in 2017. What started as a free-to-play experiment has grown into something we're incredibly proud of, and now we're ready to take the next big step. We're excited to introduce Battle Snails, a premium game built from the ground up for one thing: pure, unfiltered fun with your friends. Why the Change? Many of you know and love Epic Snails. It was free-to-play, it was scrappy, and it had heart. But free-to-play comes with tradeoffs. A lot of our energy went into systems that weren't about the actual gameplay: stores, monetization loops, retention hooks. The reality is that free-to-play is a live service model, and running a live service takes a massive amount of resources.
