- Code Tycoon - Update 1.48.1 - 19 September 2026
Bug Fixes The founder's own training can now be stopped - including a train-to-max plan. The running course's language card offers Cancel; the fee already paid stays spent, levels gained stay.
- Multiplayer Is in the Works: Here Is the Plan - 19 September 2026
Code Tycoon is getting multiplayer: to compete with your friends, or to build something together. The question we hear most often is: can I play this with my friends? Not yet, but we are working on it. This post explains the plan. To be clear up front: multiplayer is in development. Nothing of it is playable yet, and there is no release date. This is the plan, not a promise of a date. 1. Weekly Challenge Every week, everyone plays the same start: the same scenario, the same world, the same seed. Your result goes onto a Steam leaderboard. You see where your friends ended up and where you stand worldwide. Same start for everyone, so the only difference is how you play. 2. Shared World You keep playing your own single-player company, at your own pace. But your Steam friends' companies show up in your world as competitors, with their real figures. As your friends play, their companies are u…

New FeaturesTesting has consequences: what you do not find, the client does. Bugs you miss ship with the delivery and come back as rework. A maintenance contract absorbs them; your own products lose quality and need a patch update. Testing now costs real working hours, the feature card shows what was found, found bugs start themselves, and the project forecast counts the ones still hidden. How often delivered bugs surface at the client depends on the difficulty.A test strategy per project: test as you go, or all of it at the end.An optional architecture phase before development — it costs time and lowers the complexity of every feature.Big contracts speak several languages. From the second office on, the work is split by what it is: the data layer in SQL, the interface in JavaScript. Cards and the market filter show it, a part nobody can write says so — and language packs can declare wh…
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.47.0 - 15 September 2026
New FeaturesReport a bug: press F8, or use the settings or the main menu. Describe briefly what happened, add details and an email for follow-up questions if you like. Optionally a screenshot, the log (without your user name) and the current save game go along. The game pauses meanwhile. Reports go straight to the developer; known issues and their status are listed at code-tycoon.de/bugs.Competition that matters: rivals snatch contracts in their niche and push prices down there. New studios open, weak ones close — and the »New Competition« event really brings a new studio to the market.Takeovers you can inspect: before buying you see who comes along — with role, language and salary —, the real monthly cost, the reputation gain and a note when you lack desks. The same goes for takeover offers from your inbox.Filters and sorting: maintenance contracts filter by language and status and sor…
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.46.1 - 14 September 2026
New Features Products can be renamed at any time. A button on the product card opens the name for editing — and the new name follows everywhere, including the running development project and mails already sitting in your inbox. Sandbox: you decide when your company is founded — year and month, from 1980 to 2019. If you would rather not play the early years again, start in the middle of a later era, on hardware that actually exists by then. Runs that start late are not ranked on the leaderboard. Bug Fixes You can type in text fields again. The keyboard shortcuts fired along with every letter, so single characters switched panels or changed the game speed — product names, team names, the mail search and the mod editor were all affected. The resolution you pick stays picked. On Linux and under Proton the window manager does not always grant exactly the size that was asked for — a panel alo…
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.46.0 - 13 September 2026
New Features Project module: clicking a project card opens the project. Planning, Team and Freelancer are tabs, with Fill and Deliver in the bar above — you ship without leaving the board. Tab switches projects and keeps you on the view you were on. And there is finally a way back that you can see. Bank: loans in fixed tiers over 12 or 24 months. Your credit limit grows with reputation and recent income, and the rate moves with the economy — a recession or credit crunch raises it, a boom lowers it. A month in the red no longer ends the run outright: you get a grace period to trade your way out. Keyboard shortcuts: speed, pause, every panel, next project, board/team. F1 shows the list in game, and Settings has a new Input tab. Space pauses — and resumes at the speed you were running, not at 1x. Delivery forecast: active projects show when they are expected to finish and flag what is hold…
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.45.1 - 27 August 2026
Bug Fixes The end screens have their buttons back. On bankruptcy, victory and at the end of the demo, New Game and Main Menu were laid out outside the visible area - the only way on was to quit the game. The closing text on the demo end screen wraps instead of running off the edge of the box.
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.45.0 - 22 August 2026
New Features Train your own developer skills with money and time instead of skill points. Specializations are a studio profile now — how many run at once depends on your office, and switching is free. An experienced founder mentors: staff training finishes noticeably faster. The Expertise tab shows where the development speed of your current project comes from, source by source. Improvements Banked skill experience survives training — spending a point no longer wipes the bar. Expertise works: your whole studio gets faster and less bug-prone on similar projects, not just you. Architecture and testing have a real effect and earn their own experience. Project management raises your project capacity, and harder projects pay more skill points. Locked specializations list their requirements with progress, and market cards show your expertise bonus. Specializations work within their field, wit…
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.44.0 - 1 August 2026
New Features Start scenarios: New Game opens with a choice — the classic endless run, or a scenario that sets the era, starting capital, reputation and pre-unlocked languages and frameworks. Each card shows what you get before you commit. Scenario goals: company funds, team size, office tier or mastering a language, each with a bronze, silver and gold mark. Your overall medal is the weakest tier you hold, so no goal can be neglected. Deadline and result: reach the goals before the deadline. Bronze counts the moment you hit it, your medal can still climb, and a result screen sums up every goal. Afterwards the game continues as an endless run. Improvements Scenario starting capital now follows the difficulty and the era, so later scenarios begin with a budget that matches their decade instead of a 1980s purse. A scenario shows its own goals on the Goals screen — a start in 1999 or later c…
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.43.0 - 26 July 2026
New Features Company takeovers: buy out a competitor straight from the Competitors panel, or accept a discounted offer in your inbox. Every deal shows a full cost breakdown, you can optionally take over their offices for the extra desks, and you absorb their reputation and some of their staff. Rolling training: set a single train-to-maximum plan per employee, team or founder. It keeps leveling a language to the cap, then moves on to the next language in your queue, so you no longer re-queue course after course. Smarter hiring: tell recruiters which role you need to bias the applicant pool, and pay to reroll the applicants when none of them fit. Sandbox mode: a new difficulty with no bankruptcy and no money pressure, so you can build freely. Marketing for your own products: hire Marketers — a new employee role with its own Junior → CMO career ladder — and run per-product campaigns. A mon…
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.42.1 - 24 July 2026
Bug Fixes Corrected faulty translations across all 28 in-game languages: achievements, in-game events, tutorial tips, employee events and other texts that previously appeared in English are now properly localized.
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.42.0 - 20 July 2026
New Features Mods & Steam Workshop: install local mods and subscribe to Workshop items. Data-driven content lets mods add programming languages, frameworks, client project types and product categories. Manage mods in-game — activate or deactivate on the fly, publish, hide, delete and tag. In-game mod editor: a step-by-step wizard (name, type, values, check, save) to create and edit languages, frameworks, project types and product categories, loaded live without a restart. Difficulty-based leaderboards: rankings are now separated by difficulty. Runs with active mods no longer count toward leaderboards or achievements. Important Playing with mods active — or continuing a save that used mods — permanently excludes that run from the leaderboards and achievements. Improvements The Languages panel is now reachable from the left navigation. The decline-offer confirmation now scales with the cu…
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.41.0 - 18 July 2026
New Features Redesigned main menu: a single screen with a navigation rail and content panes (New Game, Settings, Credits, Patch Notes) over an animated era backdrop. New in-game navigation: a persistent grouped sidebar (Overview, Studio, Team, Business, Progress, System) replaces the old desktop icon grid, so every screen is one click away. Improvements The Office screen now switches between Management and the Floor view with tabs. The Finance overview is now a full-width ledger with amounts aligned on the right for easier reading. Sidebar section headers are now translated in every supported language. Bug Fixes Searching your mail by subject now filters the inbox correctly. Finishing a team training session now teaches the language to every member of the team, and the team's trained language level is shown on the team.
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.40.0 - 16 July 2026
New Features Filter your mail inbox by sender type: Clients, Team, Finance, Maintenance or System. Search your mail by subject to jump straight to the message you need. Bug Fixes Released products can start a new version again with the Develop Update action, which had gone missing and left Discontinue as the only option. Text in non-Latin languages (Japanese, Korean, Chinese and others) now renders correctly instead of showing empty boxes.
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.39.2 - 16 July 2026

- Code Tycoon - Update 1.39.1 - 16 July 2026
Improvements The Development, Market and Employees desktop icons now show a small count badge. Bug Fixes Fixed a crash that closed the game when hiring an applicant.
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.39.0 - 16 July 2026
New Features The Employees screen is now split into Employees, Applicants and Teams tabs. Reworked team management: each team is organised into Members, Assignment Rules and Training, with a scrollable two-column members list showing languages and levels, a language and training-type picker, and per-team language rules for auto-assignment. Office dashboard with hardware-manufacturer tabs (Intel/AMD/Apple) and full-width section tabs. The Languages tab is now a proper multi-column grid. Improvements The display settings are back: renderer/backend selector, multi-monitor picker and fullscreen resolution including refresh rate. Click anywhere on a market or client card to open its details. Tidier clients panel and more consistent spacing across the redesigned panels. Bug Fixes The product-name field accepts typing again. The filter bar no longer overlaps the tabs and section headings are n…
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.38.1 - 14 July 2026
Bug Fixes Employee actions (train, promote, dismiss, hire) respond reliably again. The idle-employee indicator is back as a badge on the desktop icons.
- Code Tycoon - Update 1.38.0 - 14 July 2026
New Features Fast-forward: from the Organizer, run time in fast-forward up to the next month or the next important event — the simulation keeps running (development, deadlines, events) and stops the moment something needs you. Employee filter: filter staff and applicants by job title, language, status and health from one shared filter bar across both tabs. Optimised saves: smaller and now language-agnostic — mails always appear in your current language instead of the one they were saved in. Redesigned Panels Employees: split into Staff and Applicants tabs, with tooltips for health and motivation. Office: section tabs for the dashboard plus hardware-manufacturer tabs (Intel/AMD/Apple). Clients: a tidier layout, the whole card is clickable, aligned detail values, reputation-by-type bars on one line, and hover highlighting. Languages: a proper multi-column grid. Market: the whole project c…
