- Mouse input guidance - v0.5.4 Hotfix - 15 June 2026
Hi snailers, Feed the Forest will be in Steam Next Fest, we hope a lot of new players will jump in! Please share the game with friends or your favourite streamer, it helps an enormous amount!Small update: We got worried that someone might miss how to plant now that mouse movement is in. So we decided to do some tweaks to how you learn the controls. And we've made sprinting into an upgrade! You'll have to do a bit of hard work in the beginning to unlock sprinting, but once you buy it, it feels amazing. If you have an existing save file, you'll have to buy sprinting from the Water shop in order to get back to rolling! Cheers, Victor, Edd, Andrés Changelog for v0.5.4AddedOverlays showing how to control the game using mouse input only. ChangedSprinting will no longer be active on game start - you can buy this ancient movement art from the Water!Graphics API priority for Linux so it prioriti…
- Mouse movement for Next Fest :) - 12 June 2026
Hi friends,In preparation for Next Fest, the good Edd added a much-requested feature: Mouse movement! Click near the snail to move and water, and simply drag further away from the snail to sprint. You can now throw your keyboard out the window, keep your mouse in one hand and grab a big glass of juice with the other. Sip that juice while you collect that juice.I hope you'll enjoy Next Fest! Looking forward to hearing from new people hopefully, and playing some demos for weirdos.Cheers,Victor and Edd and Andrés Micro changelog AddedMouse based movement.ChangedAdjusted popup text a bit.

- Demo coming soon - some cuts :( - 20 May 2026
Demo is coming soon, we're just awaiting Steam reviewing the page and putting last touches on things. We wanted to warn ahead of time that unfortunately we've had to cut several things from the demo :(We've had to eat features...In the last post, we teased having multiple levels and a couple of features to go with that, such as a map for selecting levels. We ran into several design issues with having more levels - they just didn't feel very good. It felt like you lost progress when you advanced, and that nice incremental feel was missing. Also, we simply didn't have time in our tiny team to really polish it up to the level we'd want it to be at.But! We did land on a new idea that we're pretty excited about. We think it should make progressing feel more satisfying than levels, and it will let us easily expand with a bunch of nice stuff to the game. I'm not going to describe it directly her…
- Some new features in the upcoming demo - 5 May 2026
We've been hard at work implementing some of your feedback and wanted to share some of the upcoming changes! Note, all of the features are still work in progress, using placeholder artwork.First up, we know that bombs are not that fun to use, so we're adding an "eraser" item:Once you get trees, bushes are not that useful, so now if you have a patch of land only populated by bushes, you'll get a speed boost:There has been a lot of feedback on not being able to plant different types of plants next to each other, so we're fixing that! Also, we're adding an indicator which will let you know where you can and can't plant a specific type of tree (white ring around the plants):New lands to explore are being developed, you'll be able to travel to a set of new areas by using the map:We thought it'd be interesting to also show some stats, for example the amount of fruit collected by Helper Snails…
