Forgefolk is a first-person blacksmithing game about old steel, old mistakes, and the things we leave behind. You play as Droak, a dwarven master smith who once forged for kings. These days, he keeps to a small workshop in Valden, taking whatever work comes through the door: broken tools, worn weapons, bent steel, cracked handles. Simple work. At least, that’s what it looks like. Every piece has been somewhere before it reached your bench. Work the Metal Yourself There are no crafting bars doing the work for you. Heat the metal. Take it to the anvil. Hammer it back into shape. Quench it. Sharpen it. Replace broken parts and fit everything back together by hand. Sometimes you’re repairing an old axe. Sometimes you’re forging something from scratch. The process changes with the job, but the work always stays in your hands. Steel Remembers Put an item on the inspection table and take a proper look at it. A strange bend. An old impact. A repair made years ago. A maker’s mark that should not be there. Droak has spent centuries learning how to read metal, and some pieces carry more than ordinary wear. Through Metal Memory, traces hidden in the steel can reveal where an object has been, what happened to it, and who may have held it before. You don’t need to find everything to finish your work.
