Latest Steam announcements
- v0.0100 - Fix Menu Crash + More Jitter Resistance - 28 July 2026
This update fixes a crash that could happen randomly in the menus. It also adjusts parameters to reduce the chance of desyncs with high network jitter or pings up to 400ms. Hopefully that is enough for players to be able to join each other world-wide. Unfortunately, there's a tradeoff and this change will make it more difficult to join games with over 1,000 balls.
- v0.099 - Fix lobby bounce and Vulkan errors - 25 July 2026
Fixes some Vulkan validation errors that might have caused crashes on some hardware. Fixes an issue where if a host of a private match exited to the lobby while in a corner they would bounce back into the match for a frame and spawn untouchable ghost balls in the next match.
- V0.098 - Engine update - 22 July 2026
This version pulls in the latest version of the World Fabric engine and fixes some issues caused by API changes. If you encounter any issues please report them in the Steam forum or on the Discord.
- Rolling back last update - 22 July 2026
There was an unrelated engine update included in the last patch that caused new issues in Narball. Rolling back until I fix it.
- Hotfix - possible crash and vsync off by default - 22 July 2026
This patch fixes a possible lock-up that could occur if a lot of events were issued at the same time (like when a match starts or on joining). I've also set the default V-sync value to off again. The toggle remains (and I personally get the smoothest experience with it on), but V-sync behaves strangely on some machines. The game will target 120fps by default now, so it's not going to overheat your machine to leave it off.
- v0.097 - Match Start Countdown + V-sync Toggle - 17 July 2026
Adds a visible countdown timer to match start when joining a dedicated server (like via quick join). Adds a toggle v-sync button in options. Toggling v-sync will make very little difference for most people, but if you were locked at 30fps for no apparent reason, it might help.
- v0.096 - Vulkan Performance Improvements - 10 July 2026
This version changes the way Vulkan screen clearing is done, which should make it easier to hold 60fps on certain integrated graphics chips. Also fixes a rare thread deadlock.
- More crash fixes - 6 July 2026
A few more multi-threading related crashes have been fixed. This is still version v0.095 since these are all engine bugs, and the game code has not changed.
- v0.095 - Hotfix for crash on match exit - 2 July 2026
v0.093 Added a race condition for high frame-rates that could cause a crash when a match ends. This should fix it.
- v0.094- timing adjustments - 2 July 2026
Minor timing adjustments should help with jitter for higher pings.
- v0.093 - Improved responsiveness - 1 July 2026
This update includes a variety of general engine upgrades that should reduce CPU load and improve the responsiveness of controls. No significant game-play changes.
- v0.092 - Fix crash on close - 17 May 2026
The crash on close is finally fixed. It was the sound system all along. This patch also fixes some other possible crashes I found in testing but never in the wild. No gameplay changes in this version.
- v0.091 - Fix desync on join for high ping - 14 May 2026
I've increased the base synchronization depth to make it possible to join players with pings up to 200ms without dropping actions. This will make it harder to get into games with over 1,000 balls, but I think it's more important to be able to play across the ocean.
- Hotfix for spurious rejoins - 14 May 2026
The logic changes to prevent extra join calls from the patch earlier today sometimes caused the game to rejoin immediately after exiting a match because the pending joins weren't cleared properly from the queue. This has been fixed.
- v0.090 - Reduce deadzone and rare crash fixes - 13 May 2026
This patch reduces the controller dead zone for rotation, which should allow you to rotate with a finer precision than before. It's a small change, but some of you are getting good fast and may appreciate it. Bug fixes: Fixed a possible memory corruption when switching between menus. Fixed a thread synchronization issue that could lead to a server crash. Fixed a rare read after free error that could crash the game when exiting a match Fixed a rare GPU memory corruption that could happen on start-up Reduce instances of duplicate server joins There is still a fairly common crash when closing the game that is proving elusive :( As always, you'll need to get the update before you can join any server with the update, including through quick play. Anyone hosting a server should make sure they have the latest version as well.
- Update v0.89 - Potential Fix for Proton desyncs - 12 May 2026
Makes floating point math more strict and includes a windows math DLL for linux users that seems to fix desyncs in Proton.
- Hotfix v0.088 - Fix player counts not updating correctly - 6 May 2026
This should fix dedicated servers showing zero players when there are actually players, which will also help the matchmaking because it will prioritize servers with players. Anyone hosting a standalone server will need to update their version or players with the newer version will be kicked on join.
- Narball Releasing May 6th - 22 April 2026
Narball will be available for everyone on May 6th at Midnight PDT. The release version will have Steam P2P connections for private games with friends as well as support for dedicated servers and a simple form of quick-play matchmaking. Narball will be relying on the Steam matchmaking system to connect players to open dedicated servers hosted by the community. If we get a massive spike in new players it could overload the quick-play enabled games, and we'll need help from the community to increase the server capacity. Private games should be unaffected.
