Update 1.0.4 brings a major visual overhaul to the heart of Retro Puzzles. The tables have been rebuilt, puzzle silhouettes remain clear across the full gameplay zoom range, and the soundtrack has grown to twenty classical works. Rebuilt tables Conservator Desk, Monastery Stone, Museum Brass and Atelier Leather now use new 64K-class tiled surfaces. • Update 1.0.3 - The Weight Was Never the Art (compression fix) - 19 August 2026

For far too long, Retro Puzzles carried an installation size that simply did not match the game. We refused to accept 31 GB as the price of preserving its high quality artwork. We returned to the asset pipeline, tracked down the compression fault responsible for that weight, and rebuilt the system around it. Fixing the problem required the entire puzzle collection to be processed again under a corrected, high quality compression profile. That is why this update replaces such a large portion of the existing data: the fault was buried in the foundation, so the foundation had to be rebuilt. Retro Puzzles now occupies the space it should have required from the beginning: approximately 8.2 GB instead of 31 GB, which means around 74% less disk space, with the same high visual quality of the artwork preserved. The collection was never too large. Its compression was broken. And now it is fixed.…

  • Smoother Puzzle Solving - 3 August 2026

This little update focuses on making puzzle solving feel smoother, more natural, and more comfortable, especially during longer sessions. • Drag and drop is now noticeably more precise in both 2D and 3D views. • Puzzle pieces remain anchored to the exact point where you grab them, reducing unwanted jumps or offsets. • Selecting pieces when several of them overlap is now more reliable. • Touch controls have been improved for more stable and predictable dragging. • 2D mode now provides a true straight top-down view, while the familiar 3D camera experience remains intact. • Switching between 2D and 3D now preserves the intended framing and camera preferences. • Minor presentation improvements.
