  • Roadmap 2.0 - 27 August 2026

Hello Librarians! As you might have noticed, the announced Demo is a wee bit late. That is due to several factors, both professional and personal. And even the trailer is still the same old one I have been wanting to replace since months...Because of that we re-examined our planned timeline and realized we're not doing us or My Necromancer's Library justice with the original 2026 release. Thanks to the feedback from the playtest, we made some major game design changes and we still have some on our list that need to get finished before we can share the demo with you. And we have some refactoring to do to fix some old beginner code from when I started this as a solo dev with near zero coding experience. And in addition to all that, we can not work on this project full time, since we have a toddler and have to take on some paid work to keep Obscure Gods running long term. So with that, here'…

  • Playtest is closing - 20 July 2026

Hello Librarians! We wanted to let you know that we're closing the playtest on July 22nd as we're hard at work preparing the demo build. A big thank you to those of you who took the time to send us feedback! It has been invaluable and we're still in the process of evaluating and incorporating it into our design. The upcoming demo will feature an improved book restoration gameplay, magical books, a first pass on the economy, and a little taste of combat. We are targeting the end of July for the (first) demo release, but we might have to extend our timeline into early August depending on how we get ahead. Life with a toddler does throw you curve balls regularly :DThis also means we are moving the release to Q4 of this year, as we have realized our time planning was too tight to make a Q3 realistic.Thank you

  • First Playtest is live! - 16 June 2026

Hello Librarians! After a short primary playtest on itch and initial bugfixing, the playtest is now live on Steam as well! The build currently only covers the core library gameplay and your feedback will be invaluable in shaping and improving this aspect of the game further! So please consider filling out the feedback form that is linked in the build or sending us feedback over the Steam Community! General:No combat gameplayOnly the prologue setting, story is incompleteNo Event Planning, though a scripted event will appearNo shops or progressionBecause of that there's basically no impact of Renown or MoneyLow amount of decoration optionsNo visual day-night-cylceThe Book Cleaning Gameplay is very rudimentary, without any audio or visual fx. We are in fact currently in the process of redeising the book repair system and consolidating it with the cleaning gameplay. Controller Support & Acces…

  • Roadmap for My Necromancer’s Library - 13 May 2026

Hello Librarians!I am Elena, the solo developer behind My Necromancer’s Library. Today I wanted to give you a little overview of the state of development of My Necromancer’s Library and what you can expect in the next few months. My original plan was for May to be the month where I am getting a demo ready. However, a lot of time has been swept up in unexpected beaurocracy and admin work, so that progress on the game has been slower than I wanted over the past 4 weeks. I am also exploring the addition of a new core feature, but as that is not fleshed out yet, let's move that topic to the next update...Despite all that, I am preparing to release at the very least an open playtest in early June, if I can not polish it enough for a proper demo. With your valuable feedback (and bug reports), a demo will be ready in July latest.Playtest / Demo ContentThe playtest and demo will at first not cont…
