  • Demo Update: QoL Updates & Personal Note - 25 August 2026

Hi everyone,This update is focused on improving the demo based directly on player feedback. A few players mentioned that while the tutorial was helpful, it could sometimes feel too restrictive, too visually heavy, or unclear about why certain actions mattered. This pass is all about making the early game feel clearer, calmer, and more readable while still protecting players from accidentally breaking the tutorial flow. A More Flexible TutorialSeveral tutorial steps now give you more room to explore instead of locking your attention to a single highlighted target. You can now hover through recipes, inspect tooltips, browse the inventory, and scroll through the phone catalog during certain tutorial moments. If the tutorial still needs a specific choice, clicking the wrong thing now gives clear red Wrong choice! feedback instead of silently letting the tutorial get derailed. I know the tutor…

  • Demo Update: Tutorial Smoothing & Player Feedback Fixes - 19 July 2026

Thank you to everyone who has been playing the demo and sharing feedback. This update is focused on small but important fixes that make the early game clearer, kinder, and more stable.Tutorial Flow ImprovementsAdded a safety gift from Marrow during the tutorial if you run out of binding materials before the phone catalog and Tithe are available.Fixed an issue where saving and loading during tutorial steps could restore the wrong step or behave as if the tutorial had been skipped.Fixed a rare issue where the first tutorial customer could disappear while the sell-button spotlight remained on screen.Tutorial dialogue can now be clicked to instantly finish typing, matching normal story scenes.Clearer Shop & Upgrade GuidanceUpdated the Shelf Organizer description so it clearly explains that it adds more usable shop display spots, not workshop inventory space.Added extra clarity around early…

  • Major Demo Update: Meet Tithe, Feed Marrow, and Plan Your Shop Better - 6 July 2026

What's New: This is one of the biggest demo updates for The Totemist so far.The headline addition is Tithe, a new character who introduces himself the first time you forget to buy binding kits. If you run out, Tithe gives you a way to buy more immediately at an extremely marked-up price. The idea is simple: you can pay for convenience, or plan ahead and avoid the cost.Tithe also brings a new shop preview menu while you’re in the workshop. You can now:view your shop’s current items in a list formatcheck what’s already on the shelf before opening the shopmove items into or out of valuable casessend items back to your inventory while still in the workshopThis system is intentionally one-directional. You still can’t access your workshop during the store phase, because day planning and light strategy are an important part of the game’s balance. The goal with Tithe’s menu was to reduce fricti…

  • Major Demo Update: Community Feedback Pass - June 28, 2026 - 28 June 2026

Built From FeedbackThis update was created directly in response to community feedback after players spent time with the demo.A lot of the focus this round was on clarity, flow, comfort, and reducing small frustrations.I’ll continue shaping both the demo and the final game around player impressions and suggestions. This patch is less about adding flashy new systems and more about making the existing experience feel smoother, clearer, and more intentional. Tutorial ImprovementsSmoothed out several tutorial steps so dialogue appears at better times.Reduced abrupt pop-ins, awkward overlaps, and jarring visual transitions.Improved visibility during important guided interactions.Added extra safeguards to keep tutorial-specific moments from breaking flow.Cleaned up a few tutorial pacing issues so players have more time to read what is happening. The goal here was to make the opening hours feel m…

  • Demo Update: Faster Intro, Cleaner Onboarding, and New Capsule Art - 19 June 2026

The demo for The Totemist has a new update, focused on making the opening of the game feel smoother, clearer, and easier to settle into.As much as story and atmosphere matter to this project, I wanted to take a careful pass at the onboarding experience so players can reach the actual gameplay faster without losing the narrative setup that gives the game its shape. What's changed in the demo Faster, lighter onboardingI reworked the intro flow to make the opening feel snappier and less overwhelming. This includes:A faster intro sequenceIncreased dialogue speed across the whole gameA shorter mayor introductionLess information delivered up front to reduce the initial lore dump and cognitive loadThe goal here was not to remove the exposition entirely, since The Totemist is a story-driven game and that setup still matters. Instead, I trimmed the fat and tried to make the opening easier to abso…

  • The Totemist Demo Update - June 2026 - 7 June 2026

Demo Update – June Patch NotesI’ve been updating the demo for The Totemist every few days as bug reports and feedback come in. With this latest build, enough has changed that it felt worth sharing a full breakdown of what’s new. Major Balance Updates • Sell Price RebalanceCrafted item values have been fully rebalanced for a smoother progression curve. This includes:Adjusted base sell prices for all craftable itemsA cleaner, slower ramp on ritual imbuing with a lower percentage capThe goal is to delay the “infinite gold” moment without making the game stressful. You should feel encouraged to experiment with different item combinations and keep those shelves full. • Gathering System RebalanceTo support the new economy and encourage crafting variety:Marrow can now find uncommon and rare materials from other zones, not just common onesDirect gathering now has higher rarity chancesQuantity h…

The Totemist demo is officially arriving on June 1st, and I’m excited to finally share the first polished slice of the game with everyone. • Tutorial Overhaul & Progression Journal: Closed Playtest Round 2 Tonight - 4 April 2026

Update OverviewA focused clarity and systems pass landed this week based on closed‑playtest feedback. The build tightens onboarding, simplifies item and quest logic, and adds tools to help you track progression and plan crafting. Audio and pacing improvements make the world feel livelier and less grindy. What’s New:• Progression Journal — Automatically logs every item you find and craft, including discovered properties; also keeps short bios for characters you meet.• Active Quest Tracker — A collapsible, top‑left tracker that shows current objectives at a glance.• Recipe Pinning — Pin recipes from the workshop to keep track of required materials for things you want to craft next.• Materials List for Gathering — Replaces the phase‑skip sundial with an inventory‑driven materials list that shows totals and, on hover, which recipes use each item.• Streamlined Item Properties — Pruned and re…
