  • Rebalancing Patch - 25 June 2026

A balance-focused update this time.MajorHigher early-game difficulty. Act 1 is now a real threat; roughly 1 in 6 first runs end before Act 2 for average players. Damage is spread evenly across all three acts instead of spiking uncontrollably near the end.Steeper ascension ladder. Levels 4–14 are harder, so reaching the top requires consistent skill. Ascension 10 is significantly tougher than before.High-ascension modifiers fixed. Ascension 14 (combo reset), 19 (hard answer format), and the 12 and 15 effects now work as intended.MinorOverclock now triggers only on a correct answer, with clear fire feedback.On-color charge discount is now shown on the card.In-run "?" button relabelled to "Guide"; added a Rune Web enemy entry and deck-variant explanations.Reduced answer brittleness in the Pop Culture, Anime, and Movie decksBug fixesFixed a crash when a card could not select a fact.Fixed sa…

  • Trivia Gauntlet - 18 June 2026

This update adds the Trivia Gauntlet, a competitive way to play the run you already know, scored and ranked.FeaturesMajorTrivia Gauntlet. Pick a category (12 of them, or All Categories) and a difficulty, then play a full combat run where the facts that charge your cards come from what you picked. It's the normal run, same combat and same map, just sourcing its questions by category instead of by deck. Difficulty sets which facts you face and your score multiplier. The enemies stay the same across all three.Run Score. Every run now ends with a score that weighs how well you played against how well you knew the material. It's gated by how far you got, so a strong start you don't finish won't outscore a deep run. The score shows at the end of every run type, not only the Gauntlet.Leaderboards. Category runs post to a board for their exact category and difficulty, 39 in all, plus the All Ca…

  • Anki support + UI fixes - 10 June 2026

You can bring your own cards now!If you already study with Anki, point Recall Rogue at your .apkg and it imports the whole deck — media and review history included. From there, every card becomes something you fight with.Anki Mode A third way to play, alongside Trivia Dungeon and Study Temple.Import any .apkg. Cloze cards, images, audio, KaTeX math, and special note types all come across.Export back to .apkg when you're done, with your review state intact.Real FSRS scheduling, so the cards you keep missing come back sooner.A built-in card browser to read and edit your notes without leaving the game.Local text-to-speech and autoplay audio on reveal, made for language decks.Your decks follow you across devices through Steam Cloud, large media-heavy collections included.A stats dashboard that shows how a deck is actually going.A new Settings menu The pause screen and the hub settings are o…

  • UI improvements + minor bug fixes - 7 June 2026

MajorShop shows prices (better). Every card and relic now has a price chip. Affordable items render in gold, unaffordable items grey out. Hover shows what you can afford."Boss in N" actually means something. The countdown now points to the real act bosses (floors 8, 16, 24), not the every-three-floor segment markers that made it useless on floor 1.Combat HUD decluttered. During fights, the top bar shows only your floor. No more act name and boss countdown competing for attention.Hand fan looks like a hand fan again. Chain-matched cards no longer punch forward and ruin the curve. They lift a little, the rest of the fan stays uniform.Selected card and CHARGE button no longer overlap. Cards lift a sensible amount and the CHARGE button stays anchored above the card top.Run-end screens no longer show impossible numbers. Defeat bars stay within their bounds. Victory encounter count matches yo…

  • Added sources to all facts - 31 May 2026

You can now directly view the source of the facts mentioned in both Trivia Dungeon and Study Temple by clicking on the globe icon in the top right of the quiz section. This will open the page directly in your main browser. While I initially wanted to open up the pages directly inside the game via an in-game window, this brings along a huge can of worms so for now, this is the way to do it.

  • Linux + SteamDeck 60fps support (and Anki, soon, maybe?) - 30 May 2026

A deck builder needs SteamDeck support, right? We've just optimised the game for SteamDeck and linux, getting a smooth 60fps and crisp card/question readings. We've also improved frame times quite a bit overall. Would you like to see Anki fully integrated?A while back we build the backend to allow for the import/export of Anki decks, along with their scheduling and media, but felt it needed some more thought before releasing. Since we never imagined anyone playing this game, like ever, we left it for what it was.If you would in fact like to be able to import your Anki decks into the game, and have us create the tools to play your own decks exactly the way you want, then let us know!

  • First Patch! - 28 May 2026

Major fixesThe game has significant improvements to stability!Your rewards stop vanishing. Close the game on a reward screen, come back, and the room could forget what it was offering you. Not anymore. Your card choices are still there when you return. The rooms render again. A few backgrounds were dropping out: a black combat scene, a blank rest site after you picked Study or Meditate, a missing layer in a mystery event. They hold now.Charging is steady. The question behind a charged card could stall or hand you the wrong fact. That path is solid now. The fact rerolls when you commit, and a wrong answer deals exactly the damage it should. The run summary tells the truth. Best Chain shows the highest chain you actually hit, not whatever you happened to end on. The health bar stops flashing numbers it shouldn't. And the end-of-chain writeup no loner reads you the same fact twiceSmaller fix…
