Company of Heroes isn't only the best World War 2 game ever made; it may also be one of - if not the best - strategy games of all time. It came as fantastic news to me, then, that Relic Entertainment is bringing out a Definitive Edition for the RTS game, with enhanced visuals, a modernized UI (thank God), and other gubbins that tech fans will rejoice over. Relic Entertainment, the studio responsible for Company of Heroes, is airing a countdown on its Twitch channel which seems to point to an imminent World War 2 themed announcement. Relic's Second World War RTS Company of Heroes is coming to a tabletop near you, courtesy of a Kickstarter for a "streamlined board game experience" with resource collection, unit purchases and upgrades, special units and commanders, and "simplified" combat that puts a premium on positioning, cover, combined firepower, and knowing how and when to put your special abilities to use.  That sounds a lot like the Company of Heroes videogames, and that's what the developers are aiming for. Relic's ace World War 2 RTS Company of Heroes 2 is free on Steam right now to celebrate its fifth anniversary. It's not quite as tight and satisfying as the classic original, but it's still a tense, excellent strategy game, especially in singleplayer and AI skirmish. The base game features a sizeable Red Army singleplayer campaign and two multiplayer armies. The DLC is also heavily discounted for the duration of the offer, including Western Front Armies and British Forces army expansions, if you enjoy what you play.   You can also pick up the overlooked singleplayer expansion Ardennes Assault for just a few bucks. Hello everyone, As some of you may have noticed, we have updated the names of the two versions of COH1 that coexist on Steam - to both of which you should all have access to: the one formerly known as "Company of Heroes" is now "Company of Heroes - Legacy Edition" the one formerly known as "Company of Heroes (New Steam Version)" is now simply known as "Company of Heroes" Going forward, the "Company of Heroes" app is the one you should use if you want to play online and enjoy the Steam Workshop maps. Store pages descriptions were also tweaked accordingly for clarity - but it took us a couple of days. Sorry about that. Try clearing your browser cache if you don't see them now, however.
