- Six New Bible Translations Are Now Available - 10 July 2026
Thank you for asking for more Bible translations in Scriptura. I know how meaningful it is to type in the translation you know and love. Today, I’m happy to share a first wave of six additional translations, available free with the base game: • Chinese Contemporary Bible, Simplified • Chinese Contemporary Bible, Traditional • Nueva Biblia Viva, Spanish • Nova Bíblia Viva, Portuguese • New Arabic Version • Vietnamese Contemporary Bible These translations are available under licenses that allow Scriptura to include them while preserving the required attribution and sharing terms. You can find the source, license, and attribution information at scriptura.games/sources. Adding a translation is not as simple as finding the text online and placing it in the game. Every edition has its own copyright, permissions, and distribution terms. Because Scriptura is a commercial game, I need to make su…

A buried shelf of the library opens next Friday.Scriptura: Dead Sea Scrolls launches Friday, July 3, 2026 at 9:00 AM EDT, adding four ancient Second Temple works to the typing library. These are not part of the standard Bible canon; they are texts around the edges: apocalyptic visions, rewritten history, community discipline, and psalms from the world of Qumran.Included in the DLC:- 1 Enoch- Jubilees- Damascus Document- Qumran PsalmsIf you already play Scriptura, this is a new kind of reading path: stranger, more historical, and closer to the desert manuscript world than the base game’s core texts. If you are new, it is a focused way to experience these works slowly, one word at a time, with the same quiet typing loop that defines Scriptura.Wishlist the DLC now from the Coming Soon store page. - Update 1.5.1 — Half the Download, Same Full Bible - 1 June 2026
A leaner Scriptura This update is about respecting your disk space and your bandwidth. We found that Scriptura was packaging a large amount of duplicate font data the game never actually used — so we cleared it out. The download and install are now roughly half their previous size, with nothing else changed. Install size — before → after Windows: ~1.3 GB → ~690 MB macOS: ~1.2 GB → ~640 MB Linux: ~1.3 GB → ~685 MB What this means for you Faster to download and update Less space taken on your drive Every translation, language, theme, and feature is exactly as before Your progress and settings are untouched Same full Bible. Lighter to carry. Happy typing. 🕯️
- Update 1.5.0 — International keyboard fixes - 31 May 2026
Fixes from your reports This patch comes straight from bugs that players reported — thank you for flagging them. Two fixes for typing in non-English layouts: macOS Option-key characters now register. If your keyboard layout makes accented or special characters with the Option key (or AltGr on Windows/Linux), those keystrokes were being swallowed as shortcuts and never reached the verse — so non-US layouts effectively couldn't type. They now come through correctly. The IME candidate window now follows your caret (Windows). For Japanese, Korean, and Chinese input, the conversion/candidate popup was appearing pinned to the top-left of the window instead of under what you're typing. It now anchors right beneath the caret and moves with it. Plus some stability and text-rendering fixes across several translations. Happy typing.
- Update 1.4.0 — Hebrew & Japanese Bibles, plus Hebrew & Latin UI - 31 May 2026
Two new Bibles to type This update adds two complete Bibles, free: Hebrew Bible — the Westminster Leningrad Codex for the Old Testament paired with the Delitzsch 1892 Hebrew New Testament. For the first time you can type the entire Christian canon in Hebrew, cover to cover. Japanese Bible — the classic Bungo-yaku literary translation (Meiji Old Testament + Taishō New Testament), carefully modernized so every verse is typeable on a standard IME. Pick either under Settings → Translation. Two new interface languages The UI now ships in 28 languages, up from 26 — newly added: עברית — full right-to-left interface Latina — for Vulgate readers and the seriously committed Change it under Settings → Interface Language. Totals after this update 33 free Bible translations 26 Bible languages 28 interface languages Translation updates The Ukrainian Bible now ships the public-domain Kulish 1905 editi…
- Thank you, and what's next for Scriptura - 11 May 2026
Thank you, and what's next for ScripturaScriptura launched on April 30th, and within hours of pushing the build live I was on a plane for a trip that had been on the calendar long before I knew when launch would land. Terrible timing on my part — I came home this week to find that a bunch of you had picked up the game while I was offline. That genuinely means a lot. Thank you.A few things I wanted to share now that I'm back at my desk:To everyone who's been typing through Genesis, building daily streaks, or just trying it out — I see you in the playtime numbers. Keep going. The 1,189-chapter journey is meant to be slow, and watching the per-key fluency chart change over weeks is one of my favorite parts of the game.On future updates — Scriptura isn't a one-and-done release. I'm planning more themes, more curated daily passages, additional translations, and quality-of-life improvements b…

- Why I built Scriptura - 24 April 2026
A short note before launch.I built Scriptura because I wanted a reason to slow down. Typing games usually ask you to go faster; I wanted one that asked me to pay attention. The Bible is a text people have sat with for thousands of years — copying it by hand was how most Christians encountered it for most of history. A keyboard isn't a quill, but the discipline translates surprisingly well. Some of the design choices that came out of that:No WPM race on the main screen. You can see your stats if you want them, but they don't haunt you verse-to-verse.Strict mode by default. If you fumble a word, you back up and type it right. It's slower. That's the point.Per-translation progress. Your journey through the KJV shouldn't erase your journey through the Reina-Valera.Daily passages are curated, not random. Someone actually picked these.Real language coverage. 32 translations across 26 languages…
