  With Hideki Kamiya no longer working at PlatinumGames , the Bayonetta series will likely move on without him - and he might be taking his ideas for more games "to the grave." Back in September, the PlatinumGames co-founder announced that he would be leaving the studio after 16 years of developing games there. A month later, in October, the block-button-loving dev shared that he'll be producing videos for a YouTube channel , as he's not actually allowed to work on games in any capacity for the next year. Kamiya's recent video saw him responding to fan questions, where he spoke about the future of the Bayonetta series. "I worked on Bayonetta 1, 2, 3 and Origins. I've talked about this in various interviews, that the Bayonetta series would consist of a total of nine episodes, and that I wanted to grow the franchise as the Bayonetta 'Saga', but it seems like I may have to take the full saga…

  Hideki Kamiya is unemployed, and like many unemployed guys with a passion for video games, he has created a YouTube channel. Titled " Let's ask Kamiya! - Why'd he quit? What are his plans? ", it's a tongue-in-cheek message to fans of the former designer about what happened. In the video he explains the reasons for his departure and what his plans are, all while sat in a park with his stuff packed in a cardboard box. Through English captions on the video, us English speaking fans can catch up on all the details. He jokes:"I am Hideki Kamiya, unemployed. Welcome to my channel. I'm out of a job. Please subscribe."   PlatinumGames has announced that Hideki Kamiya, director of games like Bayonetta , is leaving the developer next month. Earlier today, PlatinumGames shared a statement on Twitter that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving the studio in October. "We regret to announce that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023," reads the statement. "We are truly grateful for his creative ideas, leadership, and contribution to the growth of PlatinumGames from our start-up to this very day. We believe that he will continue to succeed in his future endeavours as a game creator. We are looking forward to seeing the game industry grow into a better place with him in it. We wish him all the best for the future!" • Original Bayonetta VA calls for boycott of third game over "insulting" pay offer - 16 October 2022

  Hellena Taylor, the original voice actor of PlatinumGames' Bayonetta , has called for a boycott of the game after alleging she received an "insulting" pay offer for the role. It's been known for a little while that for whatever reason, Taylor would not be reprising her role as the now pretty iconic witch, as she essentially said as such last year . Earlier this month it was confirmed that prolific voice actor Jennifer Hale would be taking over the role , with the game's director Yusuke Miyata saying that, "various overlapping circumstances made it difficult for Hellena Taylor to reprise her role." But now Taylor has posted a series of videos on her personal Twitter where she claims that she ultimately had to decline returning due to only being offered $4000 for the performance. • Platinum Games hoping to give Bayonetta 3 update and reveal "unannounced projects" this year - 17 January 2021

  We haven't heard much about Bayonetta 3 since it was announced a few years ago. Developer PlatinumGames hopes to change that this year, and reveal some other projects besides. In a conversation between Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya and Hamster Corporation CEO Satoshi Hamada as part of Hamster's Arcade Archives series (ta, Nintendo Everything ), Kamiya stated he'd like to give a substantial update this year, on Bayonetta, and more besides. "We've been working on new stuff like Bayonetta 3, not that I can say too much, but I hope we can give an update during the year," He said, adding: "And give updates on a few more unannounced projects too.   In my head, The Wonderful 101: Remastered has only been out for a month or so. In reality, it came out back in May , and I’m not quite sure how that happened. 2020 continues to amaze with its ability to warp all perception of time. Oh well. Platinum Games’ weird superhero-morphing adventure has a free two-hour demo out now on Steam, so perhaps that will distract from the fact we’re in the final month of this damned year. • Platinum Games receive Tencent investment and promise other big announcements this year - 8 January 2020

  Bayonetta and Nier: Automata developers Platinum Games have made a big announcement to start off the year – they’ve got themselves a partnership investment from Chinese conglomerate Tencent. With this, they might start self-publishing games. That’s not all though. The company have even more in store for us in the coming months, including an update on upcoming game Babylon’s Fall, and according to Platinum’s president and CEO, Kenichi Sato, 2020 will really be the year they come into their own. • Bayonetta is $5 on Steam until Tuesday - 31 March 2019

  You can pick up Bayonetta , one of the best action games on PC, for just $5/£3.75 on Steam until Tuesday. If you haven't played it yet, you absolutely should: Phil gave it 93/100 in his review , and it's still on out list of the top 100 PC games . The price is equal to its historic low, according to IsThereAnyDeal . It actually dipped to the same price earlier this month before going back up to the usual $20, so if you missed out then this is the perfect time to pounce. It'd be a good one to play if you just finished Devil May Cry 5 , I reckon. The daily deal lasts until 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm GMT on Tuesday, so you have a couple of days to capitalize. PlatinumGames released Bayonetta in 2009 but, as Durante wrote for us when it came to PC in 2017, the port is the definitive version of the game.
