- PlatinumGames planning to self-publish a new game of their own - 3 January 2018
PlatinumGames, the makers of such wonderful games as Bayonetta and Nier: Automata , are looking into making and self-publishing games of their own. While they’re not announcing any specific games just yet, Platinum say they invited all staff to pitch ideas and have whittled 70-odd submitted design documents down to two ideas they’re focusing on. Yes, their own games are likely to offer the action you’d expect from Platinum, though obviously made on smaller budgets without the backing of big publishers. At this year's E3, PC Gamer spoke to Sega Europe's senior vice president of commercial publishing John Clark about the possibility of porting as yet unported Japanese console games to PC—not least Yakuza and Persona . - Vanquish patch fixes framerate damage bug - 31 May 2017
A weird bug in Platinum’s bumsliding shooter Vanquish , which made players take more damage if their game ran at a higher framerate, is now fixed. As some handy GIFs demonstrated on Friday, players running Vanquish at 60 frames per second would get hurt more than those at 30fps. Porting house Little Stone Software and publishers Sega acknowledged the issue on Sunday, released a beta version of a fix on Monday, then, after testing, made it official last night . I like to think that this means I see it with clear eyes, unclouded either by nostalgia or a predisposition to root for an underappreciated underdog.
