  A few weeks ago I shared how I designed the overall concept of Hotel Paraíso in the first devblog. I want to focus now in the combat, which is arguably the most unique area of the game, given its special mix of elements. I had a lot of fun creating the combat system, which is almost feature-complete at this point, but also I had a lot of struggles. Let's start with the most basic question...What Genre is this Game?I will be honest, I am having a lot of trouble to define the game. At first glance, many people think it's a Plants vs Zombies type of game, given how the grid is organized with the characters on the left, the enemies on the right, and the shot indicator. It's maybe not the best first impression, considering the "mobile feeling" it creates, like it might be a bit of a simplistic game.But it is very far from it. It's turn based, not a cooldown + realtime game with tower defense…

  Hello! I've been working hard on the development of Hotel Paraíso, which is currently around 50% complete. I will share more info later, but today it's time to get a fresh new version of the demo. Why updating the demo nowI stopped caring about the demo after the Steam Next Fest last June, not expecting more players afterwards. However, some people are still playing it from time to time. The metrics suggest that about one third of the players don't engage with the demo.Of course it's impossible to know why: maybe they don't like the combat, or they find some technical issue, or the tutorials make it confusing (this one I saw happening myself).   Hello 👋 I have been working hard on the development of Hotel Paraíso and also improving the demo version. And one of the things I realized is: it doesn't have Latin America Spanish! I took for granted that European Spanish would be enough, but I learned that's not the case. So I added a language option removing all European Spanish expressions and words to be more friendly for our Latin American players.   First of all, thank you so much to everyone who has already played the Hotel Paraíso demo. Your feedback has been incredibly valuable for me to learn and discover the game’s weak spots.   When Hotel Paraíso Demo launched a week ago, I chose to add the demo as an extension of the main game's page. After a few days of receiving feedback, I decided to create a dedicated page for the demo.
