- Downer Management updated to 1.6.0 - 15 September 2026
The whole game looks better. Every screen had been graded into brown mud: dark, warm, vignetted to black at the edges. A new global tone map lifts the shadows to slate, opens the midrange and keeps brass, paper and portraits exactly as they were. The office finally reads as lit. The desk and roster stop being half empty. All three filing cabinets on the desk now sit open with every drawer readable. The roster's rows and formation slots grow with your screen instead of stopping two thirds of the way down. Battle backdrops are back. The boss vignette was stacking fifty filled rings and blacking out most of the stage. Fixed there and in two more places with the same bug. Office sports return. A doorway option now picks one of five real sports at random, against the staff of the building you are standing in. No wager. Skip if you want. All five play out like dodgeball did. Text fits its box…
- downer management balance hotfix 1.5.x - 22 July 2026
Vengeful employees (ones you fired) were receiving bugged out stats, resulting in absurd difficulty spikes. behavior has been corrected.
- Downer Management 1.5.1 - 22 July 2026
Weekend nights finally hit like they should. Open, control, and finish are real phases, and every move does something specific. Sucker Punch opens hard, Rattle shreds their guard for the whole fight, Liquidate executes anything under 40 percent. The catalog doubled to 12 moves so your loadout is a real build. The basement got a glow up too. A live case board with your actual rivals pinned up, a real stairwell out to the street, brass placards, a steel armory locker, a heavy bag. Two balance fixes. The weekend death spiral is dead. You could feed one side too long and never win again, that is fixed. And the base game endgame no longer turns into a cakewalk if you built a monster squad. The difficulty scales up to meet you now, capped and reformulated. Plus a base game screen cleanup. Battle spoils sit on a real counter instead of floating in space, the hiring card stopped overlapping its…

quick fix pass. bunch of stuff that was quietly broken, now it isn't. - rare locked achievements actually fire now. "promote an employee" (and the demote one) were checking a counter nothing ever wrote to, so they never popped no matter how many people you promoted or dumped. found that one myself, by not having it. fixed. - New Game+ loops through the finale like it's supposed to instead of stalling out at the top. - IT and Marketing department bonuses were aimed at stats that got cut a while back, so they did literally nothing. they do something again. - Weekend Vigilante was handing you your weekend payout twice. it's once now. my bad. - your rivals are actual people now. everyone you fight on the way up is one of the other nine who got a golden ticket to Gideon's little succession contest, and they finally talk like it. their file tells you what they're really after (the chair), and…

- Quick Follow-Up Patch - 14 July 2026
A smaller cleanup update following yesterday’s big Succession release: Added a shared Expense Account for Dream Office decor and Weekend Vigilante purchases, so fun customization no longer competes with payroll. Loosened the early-game Budget economy to leave more room for hiring, training, and upgrades. Reworked department-clear rewards into meaningful, tiered permanent rewards instead of pointless post-clear healing. Reduced combat notification spam and removed redundant Line Change, promotion, and reassignment cards. Expanded office decor, rugs, wallpaper, furniture, character names, hairstyles, hats, glasses, and accessories. Upgraded the Business Card maker and worked your card into victory and management presentation moments. Refreshed the Break Room with individually selectable arcade cabinets and the full Sequencer. Added more varied staging to post-building scenes. Fixed duplic…
- 1.4.0 Update - 13 July 2026
Fixed duplicated employees and missing high-star employees in battle setup. Repaired regular Fieldwork battles after the expedition work disrupted them. Made failure understandable: total wipe means game over; abandoning preserves survivors but restarts the building. Shared Theme Machine songs across save slots. Shelved the generic Sportsbook menu. Expanded GridFired with classes, skills, progression, and its own cabinet save. Added Sway Galactic to the Break Room. Built the Succession Field. Overhauled Rivals Cleaned objective clutter off the desk and improved post-building story continuity. Queued battle stamps so rewards and notices stop colliding. Fixed the full-roster briefing badge clipping its Line Change rules.
- The Succession Update 1.4.0 - 12 July 2026
Gideon Dunne-Wright is stepping down.Everyone else is stepping over someone.Eleven contenders have entered the succession contest: nine approved claimants, you as the final official entrant, and one rival who broke in and was allowed to stay because the company admired the initiative. The Succession Update tightens Downer Management around its strongest idea: build a department, script your formation, survive the climb, and beat the other bosses for control of the company.Full-Roster Boss BattlesOrdinary encounters remain focused 3v3 fights. Building bosses now bring their entire department roster: three active employees and three reserves against your full six. After rounds 2 and 4, both bosses receive a formal Line Change. The opposing boss protects their lineup first. You may then make one free active/reserve swap or hold your formation. Knockout replacements remain automatic, and the…

- Weekend Vigilante — Balance & Identity Update (v1.3.1) - 8 July 2026
Sunday nights have a real difficulty curve now. No more coasting to an easy win one week and slamming into a brick wall the next. The fight now scales with how strong your vigilante actually is — eases off if you're behind, ramps up if you're ahead — and there's a new safety net that keeps pushing back if you're steamrolling everything, so even a fully-trained vigilante still gets a real fight, every week. Saturday now actually matters on Sunday. How you spend Saturday carries into the fight. Show up sharp and balanced and you'll hit a little harder. Burn the whole weekend on vigilante work with no rest, and you'll show up running on fumes. It's a real trade-off now, not just flavor text. The four Approaches finally feel different. Brawler, Marksman, Acrobat, and Improviser each fight their own way: Marksman's crits punch straight through armor, Acrobat can chain a lightning-fast follow…

- Downer MGMT: Weekend Vigilante Update - 2 July 2026
Monday through Friday, you run a department. What you do on the weekend is between you and the city. ☰ WEEKEND VIGILANTE — a free update, live now. Every building you clear banks a weekend. Spend Saturday getting ready — train, gear up, work your informants, pick the fight — then watch Sunday play out as a broadcast: your boss, cornered somewhere in the city, versus whatever this weekend sent. Win, and the gains come back to the office with you Monday morning. It's the same boss, the same stats, a very different dress code. (Owners only — the demo keeps its tie on.) ☰ THE SUCCESSION CONTEST — the campaign has a spine now. Gideon Dunne-Wright is giving away the company. You got the last official slot in the contest. Your rival didn't get one — they climbed in anyway, and the people upstairs called that "initiative." The buildings aren't errands anymore; they're the ladder, and everyone o…
- Weekend Vigilante Update - 30 June 2026
Your boss has a second job. Monday through Friday, you run the department. Hire, assign, review, survive. Same impossible office. But the weekend belongs to you. WEEKEND VIGILANTE is a free update in the works for Downer Management — and your boss is about to start moonlighting. Two days. One run. No supervision. Clear a building in the campaign and you bank a weekend. Then spend it however you can stand to: Saturday — the base of operations. Pick your spot — a cramped apartment, a café after close, the back booth of a dive bar. Then balance the only two things that matter: train like a vigilante, and keep your actual life from falling apart. You can't do both. Choose. The Approach. Decide how you fight — Brawler, Marksman, Acrobat, or Improviser — and how hard you push it. Deeper than it looks. Still a number. Sunday night — the broadcast. You don't play the fight. You watch it. Your b…
- Downer Management 1.1.2 - 25 June 2026
Relationship effects are now visible in the dossier, showing the exact stat changes each relationship provides. Stat caps are now displayed, making it clear when a character has reached their maximum potential. Skill evolution readiness is now shown directly in the roster and dossier, including any badge requirements. Added a first-time stat tutorial during hiring to explain what each core stat does. The intro cinematic now always displays a skip prompt, even during long pauses. Added a visible wipe counter so remaining failures are easier to track. Negative budgets are now clearly marked as deficits. Locked actions now explain why they're unavailable instead of only showing "Locked." Active directives now appear in the battle log along with their effects. Improved underpowered-run feedback by warning players when their squad is significantly underprepared while retreat is still an opti…
- Downer Management Bug Fixes - 23 June 2026
Fixed: Overkill and Clutch Heal achievements could unlock when triggered by enemy units Fixed: skill evolution paths introduced in a previous content pass were silently inactive — 15 evolution chains now work correctly (e.g. Viral Campaign now evolves to Motivational Campaign as intended) Fixed: skills could revert to pre-evolution behavior in combat after evolving (ghost skill reference in combat script) Fixed: healer and support skills sometimes lost their ally targeting after skill evolution Fixed: skill evolution contained 6 loops that allowed units to cycle back to weaker skills indefinitely — evolution chains now terminate at their strongest form
