- Two New Bosses and Roguelike Update Date - 24 July 2026
Hello everyone! The next major Scum's Errand update is near release introducing the Roguelike Journey. As we worked on this update, we also felt that boss fights needed a significant overhaul, leading to the addition of two brand-new bosses and a completely redesigned arena built specifically for these encounters.Meet the New BossesAnurix, the Lich KingOnce the High Sorcerer of the Sunken City, Anurix commands the battlefield through necromancy. He raises skeletal servants to overwhelm players and won't hesitate to sacrifice his own minions to restore his strength. If you focus only on him, don't be surprised when his army grows out of control.Hadrophagus, the Blind HunterA relentless predator driven by a demonic parasite that claimed his mummified corpse after death. Blind, but far from helpless, Hadrophagus hunts by sensing blood and life itself. He uses blood magic to trap his prey be…
- Dev Update - The New Roguelike Journey - 17 July 2026
Hello everyone, Pedro here, the solo developer behind Scum's Errand.Over the past few weeks I've been reworking the game's core gameplay loop, and today I'd like to share the first update: the new Roguelike Journey Update.Instead of simply progressing from one dungeon to the next, each run now takes place on a procedurally generated map where you'll choose your own path, meet NPCs, discover random events, and plan your build before jumping back into combat. The goal is to make every run feel like an actual journey while also giving players short breaks from the constant action. Here's what you'll encounter along the way:Fortune Teller – The first stop of every run. Choose a new card to shape your build, with additional cards becoming available as you progress.Shop – Buy supplies or sell your loot. The shady merchant isn't exactly generous, so don't expect great prices.Treasure – A small…

- Dev Diary #3: The World is starting to feel cursed. - 22 May 2026
Hey there, Pedro here, the solo developer of Scum’s Errand. The last two weeks was focused on making the world feel less repetitive and more memorable to explore.I’ve been heavily expanding room variety, especially in the Castle and Cave biomes. The goal is for every room to have its own identity instead of feeling like reused layouts with different props. Some rooms are now built around:Ruined barracksRitual chambersCollapsed hallwaysChained prison sectionsCave structuresI want players to recognize spaces instantly and slowly piece together what happened in the dungeons through exploration.Another huge milestone was starting work on the first major boss:Thalrix, The Last True ConquerorUnlike the undead remnants scattered across the world, Thalrix still carries the presence of a ruler who refused to let the kingdom die quietly.Designing him has been a mix of brutality and decay: A toweri…
- Dev Diary #2: Reading Fate. How Build Crafting works in Scum’s Errand - 8 May 2026
Hello everyone, Pedro here, the developer of Scum's Errand. Today I wanted to talk a bit about how build crafting works in the game, and the ideas behind the Fortune Teller system. Reading Fate. How Build Crafting works in Scum’s ErrandSeeking AnswersScum’s Errand is a game about desperate people surviving in a collapsing world, and I wanted progression to reflect that uncertainty. Instead of a traditional skill tree, builds are created through the Fortune Teller. A system inspired by tarot cards and the human tendency to search for answers during moments of crisis. Building Through CardsEach card grants two bonuses and one drawback. Some may improve revolvers while hurting reload speed. Others may turn machine guns into powerful crowd-control tools at the cost of mobility. The idea is not simply stacking power, but combining cards whose drawbacks cancel each other out. All active effec…
- Devlog #1: Steam Page is Live + What's Next? - 2 May 2026
Hello everyone, Pedro here! Today I will update you about our most recent development in the state of Scum's Errand. First of all, what is Scum's Errand?Scum’s Errand is a top-down roguelite horde shooter with extraction mechanics. Choose your expedition, dive into dangerous runs, and fight through rooms filled with enemies and loot. Everything you carry can be sold, if you make it out alive. Build your power through a card-driven system, where each card grants scaling bonuses. Combine them to unlock powerful “Omens”, but be careful, every advantage comes with a downside. Managing that balance is the key to surviving each run. What makes it different?Risk-driven build-crafting system where every power comes with a costFast-paced top-down combat against overwhelming enemy wavesExtraction-based gameplay. Escape with your loot or lose everythingCard-based progression with powerful synergies…
