• Towers finished, minecart upgrades and skills, skills, skills! - 18 September 2026

  Progress has been steady and good. This week, I finished the towers for the game, check them out below! Each tower is unique to a certain area and all signal progression and power in the game. What do you think of the designs? Then, I added the last section to the skill tree - Carts! You can now upgrade the cart system in the game. This allows for upgrades that make the carts carry more ore of certain types or have less health or come by slower - allowing you more time to mine them. This update acts as a big one in terms of the mining systems in the game and will give players a lot more to aim for when mining in rounds. Apart from the towers and mining upgrades, I have also been working on adding some more general as well as additions to previous node skills to the skilltree. • New upgrades, better enemy feedback and audio improvements! - 8 September 2026

  So, I've been working hard on Just Keep Mining And Defending and have another great update for you all here. Firstly, I've been working alot on getting the skill tree completed and completely functional. In doing so, I've added two new main abilities and many offshoot abilities for them. The first main ability is fire. Who doesn't love a good flame? So, fire has support for upgrading fire arrows, both in damage and spawn chance and also has fire from cursor node. Fire does damage over time. There are also occasional explosions on contact with fire arrows and cursor strikes which cause big AOE damage.Secondly, is poison, this acts functionally quite similar to the fire but with varying start damage, chance and effectiveness. Poison works best to kill enemies slowly over time while fire is much more effective at quick and large amounts of damage. With these two completed upgrade paths the…

• New enemies, skill tree layout changes and map improvements! - 26 August 2026

  Progress has been great on the game this week. Here's what's new : I've been working on more enemies for the second and third stages of the game, and this is what I've come up with. Three new enemies - one is a cannon that shoots you with pods from a distance, the other is a cactus that takes short hops to get to you but does massive damage when it does reach your tower and the last one is a big frog like creature that jumps great distances and has big amounts of health. These enemies are more or less just larger and stronger variants of what was already available but they do add some value to the combat and feel of the games encounters. Then, I added level texts to the world map so now when you enter or exit the world map you can see how far you were within a certain region. This is a small but important change. • Skill tree improvements, map layout updates and reward fast forwarding! - 20 August 2026

  Hi all, little update for everything I've been doing in Just Keep Defending And Mining. The upgrade screen was pretty good, but needed a bit more information so as to allow players to make better informed decisions. So, I've added "ghost" nodes. These nodes allow you to see whats coming, so you can make a more informed decision about what to buy next when you are buying upgrades. I think this adds a new element to the upgrade loop in the game. Next up I will be reworking the entire layout, and this helps alot. Being able to preview your options before you unlock them gives you a better decision making pathway as a player. The map while functional was quite obstructed and bulky. It was difficult to see what things are and it was difficult to see which text belongs to which island.
