- The localization update has arrived! - 8 July 2026
Guncrypt now speaks your language! The crypt has gone global, and frankly, Skulldarcula's threats hit different in nine languages. We've been working hard on bringing Guncrypt to as many players as possible, and today we're excited to announce full localization support for: French German Spanish (Spain) Spanish (Latin America) Russian Chinese (Simplified) Chinese (Traditional) Japanese KoreanPop into Settings to pick your language. We also snuck in some minor bug fixes while we were in there, and the crypt is a slightly less broken place than it was last week. It's still full of Goblins, though. And while we're here: a massive thank you to everyone who's left a review, posted about Guncrypt, shared it with friends, or just sent us a kind word online. Seriously. We read all of it. Building a game is a wild ride, and knowing people are out there enjoying it keeps us going. If you haven't yet,…
- The challenge continues, Deputies. - 26 June 2026
We are back for more!Deputies, The Halfbrick Show is back with Part 2 of our Guncrypt gameplay challenge, in which we test yet another two builds that aren't exactly... optimised. Before we dive in, thank you for all the support during Steam Next Fest. Seeing so many players jump into the demo, wishlist the game, and share their wild builds has been incredible.A huge thank you as well to all the content creators who have played, streamed, clipped, covered, or shared Guncrypt so far. We’ve loved seeing your runs, reactions, and wonderfully cursed bullet combinations. Keep 'em coming! And now, for the Magazine Challenge...Last time, we spun the wheel, locked ourselves to one bullet type, and tried to survive the crypt with whatever build fate handed us. If you don't remember the rules we published last week, check out our last post. This time, Carmen is still clinging to the lead, Aiden is f…
- A challenge for the most daring Deputies. - 18 June 2026
It started on the Podcast...On Episode 31 of The Halfbrick Show, we ran this challenge live with QA legend Fran to celebrate Gunbcrypt participating in Steam Next Fest. The rules: spin a wheel, get assigned one bullet type, and go as deep into the dungeon as you can using nothing else.Carmen went first. She pulled Multishot and is currently in the lead. Aiden and Fran still have to take their runs: Part 2 drops next week. Now it's your turn!GunCrypt has several different bullet pools. Most players grab whatever drops and figure it out on the fly. That is not how this works. The GunCrypt Magazine Challenge has one rule:You can only pick up bullets from your assigned pool. Everything else, no matter how rare, no matter how tempting, you'll have to leave on the ground. No team required. Just you, your one bullet type, and whatever cursed build you can cobble together before the dungeon kills…
- Poison 101. A lesson from The Master. - 12 June 2026
Dearest Deputies. The Master has received several complaints lately. Mostly from goblins. Something about being dissolved. I will not be taking questions about that. What I WILL address is this: too many of you are using Poison wrong. And frankly, it is an insult to the art! Not Gobbo, though. His latest build was inmaculate, even though it seems to have gotten him into trouble.Want to achieve his levels of venomous awesomeness? Sit down, relax, and try to resist the toxic fumes while The Master tells you all about it.Lesson One: What is Poison?Poison works in stacks. Think of each stack as one drop of venom seeping into your enemy's bloodstream. Unpleasant for them... But delightful for you!Every second, Poison deals 10 damage for every stack on the enemy. So:5 stacks = 50 damage per second10 stacks = 100 damage per second20 stacks = 200 damage per secondYou are not shooting them so muc…
- The Mystic Update is here! - 10 June 2026
Hello, Deputies! You may have heard about a certain fortune teller getting lost in the crypt. Well, you don't have to wait anymore: meet Matilda the Mystic, a new character who's set up shop and brought a small but very handy bag of tricks with her. Her tarot cards will move even the most cold-hearted sceptics, unlocking new ways to play and even deadlier combinations. For now, you can get a first taste of the tarot system with these three upgrades:What's on offer (for now):Healthy: Add one more max heart, right from the beginning. Because sometimes the crypt just wants you dead faster than you'd like.Projectile Dodge: 30% chance to dodge enemy projectiles. Yes. Bullets can miss you now, if you are lucky enough. Let that sink in.Demolitionist: Start each run with one extra bomb. Hit the crypt floor already packing heat and make Plunderin' Pete proud. However, these won't come for free:…
- Happy Bullet Fest, Deputies! - 8 June 2026
The bullets were already everywhere. Turns out there's a festival for thatGunCrypt is officially part of Steam's Bullet Fest, a celebration of games where the entire screen is a cloud of projectiles. Bullet hells, survivor-likes, chaos incarnate. You know the vibe (and if you don't, you know us!).We belong here, and are more excited than ever to keep on shooting! So what IS Guncrypt, exactly?Forget finding better guns. GunCrypt is about building the perfect sequence of bullets.Load your magazine with 60+ collectible rounds, each with their own abilities. Poison rounds, lightning shots, ricochets, armor-strippers, gut-busters. They fire exactly in the order you loaded them, and that order matters a lot. An armor-stripping Corrosive Shot into a Heavy Shot hits completely differently than the reverse. Fuse bullets together and make something the game probably didn't intend. Rearrange betwee…

- The Demo is Out. You Can Go In Now. - 3 June 2026
The wait is over.Hello, Deputies. The Guncrypt demo is live on Steam. You can play it right now. The crypt is open, the skeletons are prepared, and frankly, the goblins have been ready for a while. They have even been complaining about the wait. What's in the demo? Two full floors of procedurally generated chaos. The undead-infested Crypt and the goblin-ravaged Forgotten Mines, complete with secrets, buried treasures, hidden rooms, shady merchants, and bosses that will make you reconsider your life (or magazine) choices. Most of the game's mechanics are unlocked from the start: bullets, relics, teleporting, bombs, and more secrets that you'll uncover along the way. There is also a small taste of the story. We will not spoil it. Just know that the town of Guncrypt was a perfectly normal place before Skulldarcula showed up, and now it very much is not.Why should you play it more than once?Bec…
- Something is about to go boom. - 2 June 2026
Howdy, Deputies. The Guncrypt demo is coming soon to Steam. First two floors. Most mechanics unlocked. Infinite replayability. A small taste of the story that we promise makes sense in context. We will have more to say about that shortly. For now, though, we would like to talk about bombs. We may have been forced to do so by the Pirate Gang, yes, but we still think that it is something every Deputy should know about.Once you unlock the bombs (swing by Pirate Pete's to get more information on the matter), you will start every run with one. Just one. A single, beautiful, catastrophic decision waiting to happen.Drop it and a ring expands around it: a polite countdown letting you and every goblin in the room know exactly what is about to occur. Everything inside that radius takes the full hit. Enemies, hazards, and certain doors that were never going to open any other way.Yes. Some doors requi…
- We need to talk about Goblin Representation - 26 May 2026
My name has been redacted for legal reasons. I am a Goblin Demolitionist. And frankly, I am tired of the stereotypes.People hear “goblin” and suddenly it’s all “unstable”, “dangerous”, “please stop throwing explosives indoors”, "why are you running towards me with a knife", etcetera.Meanwhile, nobody talks about the real issues facing goblinkind. Like deputies teleporting directly behind you. Or weaponized chain lightning. Or being dissolved by poison bullets fired from a revolver that absolutely should not legally contain that many cursed modifications. It's a safety hazard. It all comes down to harmful profiling and years of baseless rumours. Goblins collaborate more to the Crypt more than any other creature. Piles of Living Bones keep rattling through the halls, the Beholder scream at everyone nonstop, and those armadillos still haven't solved their anger issues. But somehow, now the…
- Building your magazine is like building a deck of cards. Demo's almost here. - 19 May 2026
The Guncrypt demo just went into Valve's review queue. As soon as they sign off, it goes live right here on this page. Guncrypt is a top-down roguelike where you play a deputy hunting down a petty wizard named Skulldarcula who stole every soul in town. The interesting part is the gun. In most roguelike shooters, a bullet is just a bullet. In Guncrypt, every bullet is more like a card. They have abilities. They trigger off the bullets around them. They care about where they sit in your magazine. Building a run is building a deck. Yours starts at four slots, gets bigger as you find upgrades, and cycles one trigger pull at a time. Three real bullets from the game: Slot 1: Burst Toggle. "If this is your first bullet, next bullet gets +1 Burst Fire." Slot 2: Amplify. "Next bullet gets +70 damage." Slot 3: Triple Shot. Fires 3 shots in a burst. That last slot now fires four shots, each carryi…
