With this update, I am feeling very comfortable taking the title out of Early Access! Significant Changes Added Tour Guide presentations for Neptune & Pluto (with subtitles), bringing the total Tour Guide content to 110+ minutes. Re-recorded Tour Guide presentations for the 3rd Earth stop & Jupiter. Music can now be easily toggled on and off via a new button on the dashboard. Users going through the tour a second time will have the option to fast-forward to the next tour stop. Improved visual appearance for Jupiter. Improved visual appearance for Neptune. Improved visual appearance for Pluto. Improved visual appearance for the Sun and all the large stars. In Side-by-Side mode, users can now only compare bodies they have already seen before in the tour. Fixed 36 issues. Minor Changes English language font updated. New loading screen, quicker loading. Users can now view a miniature close-…

  • v.2.5.9: Saturn & Uranus tour guide content, dashboard/UI facelift, & other QoL - 18 September 2019

Hello everyone, I'm excited to give you this update! Significant Changes: New Tour Guide presentations for Saturn and Uranus (with subtitles), bringing the total Tour Guide content to 90 minutes. Last big update to dashboard and cockpit appearance. Planet labels no longer appear huge when approaching them, and look a little nicer. Improved menu/UI appearance. Each hand may now hold a different moon at tour stops with more than one moon. Vive Cosmos support. Minor Changes: Distracting button feedback is now suppressed while sitting and listening to Tour Guide. Venus is now less yellow. Cleaned up beeping sound in some Tour Guide presentations (especially at Mars). Fixes: Fixes issue where INDEX users sometimes would not be able to see/use one or both controllers.

  • v2.5.7: Cockpit update, new Tour Guide content, dashboard grab bar, and bugfixes. - 25 June 2019

Significant changes: Added Tour Guide content for Ceres & Jupiter (with subtitles), bringing the total Tour Guide content to 75 minutes. Facelift for cockpit and dashboard. Dashboard height may now be manually adjusted by gripping the bottom of the dashboard. Once it is manually adjusted, it will stop trying to automatically adapt to your height. Minor changes: Improved the appearance of the data panel in Side-by-Side mode. Improved Touch controller appearance when using Oculus VR mode. Fixed lots of obscure bugs that have been around for ages! Additional changes patched in on Jun 27th in v2.5.7b Citrix Workspace no longer interferes with running this app. Improved cockpit lighting. Seat no longer appear…

  • v2.5.6: Hand presence, mechanical dashboard buttons, Rift S controllers, and more. - 15 June 2019

It's that time again! Significant changes: Users can now see their hands for all supported 6DOF VR headsets except for WMR (will continue working on hands for that). Those using Valve Index controllers can simply grasp their controllers in order to see them in VR, and yes this update includes individual finger tracking. Added new dashboard buttons: Change planet maps, Rotate planets, Closeup view. Dashboard buttons now act like mechanical keyboard keys. Adjusted overall controller appearance + longer interactor tips for pressing buttons. All new calibration area. Rift S controller support for SteamVR mode. Improved appearance of popup messages. Continued filling in gaps in localization for the suppor…

  • v2.5.5: Loading time reduced by 60% - 22 May 2019

The Singular change in this Update: Greatly reduced loading time. (From launching to giving user control of the experience: from 46 seconds down to 18 seconds on my PC) Apologies for the frequent updates lately! Hoping to make additional Tour Guide content the focus of the next one.

  • v2.5.4: Additional streamlining for arcades and installations. - 17 May 2019

Minor changes only in this patch (unless you are a VR arcade, in which case this is an important one!). Minor Changes When returning to the Tour Map, there is now a Settings button to make it clear that you can go back to change certain settings. The Tour Map area now has buttons for quitting the experience. When using floor-level tracking and "not sensitive to motion", the tour cockpit's frame is now set to default to appearing "While Moving" (instead of Always On). Command-Line Additions Additional command-line arguments have been added: --go-directly-to-tourmap (This skips past the initial options and title menu areas to the Tour Map. Note that the --skip-menus argument will override this.) --default-to-short-tour --default-to-full-tour --comfort-mode-on-by-default --comfort-mode-off-by-default --skip-calibration-step (Works great when paired with '--default-to-floor-level-tracking'…

  • v2.5.3: Animated Sun corona, Tour Guide editor, and arcade/installation support! - 15 May 2019

Significant Changes: Tour Guide customization is now enabled. Anyone can now record themselves in VR (both motion capture, and microphone capture for voice) to create new Tour Guide presentations (that can be shared with others if you wish). To get started, check the Modding Info area inside the app (green options menu from tour -> Modding Info). It's easy once you know what to do, but perhaps daunting to get started, so I will publish videos in the near future to walk through the process. -- Note: If using a Rift/Rift S to record Tour Guide presentations, please run the app using Oculus SDK for now. The Sun's corona is now animated. Same goes for the large stars. Minor Changes Monitor: No longer defaults to "sensitive to motion". Slight visual tweaks for dashboard. Arcade/Installation Support: New command-line arguments supported, mainly to support arcade/installation type settings: --…

  • v2.5.2: Tour Guide subtitles, Modding enabled, and more. - 4 May 2019

Grateful for the feedback I've received so far! I wasn't able to address all of it in this update, but I'm just getting started here. For now, here's what's new: * Tour Guide now has English subtitles (for all 62 minutes of tour content content currently available). * Modding/customization has been enabled. (If you're interested in customizing text, translations, subtitles, alternate planet maps, or planet labels, you may now do so. Look in the app's "modding info" area to get started. Coming soon: Ability to customize music / record custom Tour Guide presentations) * While at the Tour Map, user may press the R key to (re)start the tour, or the C key to continue it. (This was requested to make demoing for others easier) * Monitor mode: Fixed being able to use Alt key to cycle info pages, and Shift key to zoom. Enjoy the weekend!

  • Version 2.5 is live! - 26 April 2019

The PC version of this title has been renamed to "Titans of Space PLUS". (The mobile version is simply "Titans of Space".) New Features: Tour Map: Easily jump to any part of the tour you've already visited! Tour Guide: A friendly character appears to talk your ear off! Work in progress and only available through Mars for now. Subtitles coming in the next update. Zero-Gravity EVA: Get out of your cockpit, and then use your thrusters and hands to move around the area for an up-close view of planets and moons, complete with surface labels and points of interest. Original music composed by Karim Elmahmoudi. Alternate Planet Maps: See planets and moons in a new way! In the below video, Mars is shown with an elevation map. For other bodies it may be something different (radar map, geologic map, etc). You can even add your own! Brief YouTube clip of some of the above features: https://www.yout…

  • Version 2.5 update is landing soon! - 10 April 2019

Hello! A significant new update has been in the works for a while, and it is almost done. I'm currently just working out the kinks in supporting the upcoming Valve Index and its "Knuckles" controllers, the upcoming Rift S, and (officially) the Windows Mixed Reality headsets, as well as integrating SteamVR Input to make it easy to rebind controls to suit your preferences. Here's a general sense of what's in the new update: Tour Guide character and presentations (instead of simply voiceover narration like on the mobile version of Titans of Space) for the first few tour stops, Ability to view alternate planet maps, Zero-G locomotion in EVA mode, Surface labels on planets and moons, ...and more! This update is nearly to the finish line of what I wanted to do when I set out with Early Access. After this update will be a handful of mini-updates as I fill out the rest of the Tour Guide content…

  • Update #4 - Real Photos & Facelifts (May 5, 2017) - 6 May 2017

For those that like to spend time at each tour stop, the "real photos" feature may prove to be significant. Otherwise, this update does not contain a major content update, and instead brings in all of the improvements made while polishing up Titans of Space PLUS for the Gear VR, minus the narration. Details below! Changelog: REAL PHOTOS Added real photos to most tour stops. These are curated images that highlight fascinating yet lesser-known features of the planet or moon in question. They can be viewed by paging through the additional info pages via the yellow "i" button on the left side of the dashboard. In playtesting, I find that many players often miss out on the additional info pages, so I've taken steps to highlight this feature during the tour. Also, for ease of browsing, I'd like to reiterate that info pages can be changed by: HTC Vive: Clicking the left or right sides of the t…

  • Update #3 - Bugfixes, and UI/UX improvements (Feb 2, 2017) - 2 February 2017

I was in the middle of freshening up the mobile VR versions of Titans of Space, and then someone told me that Oculus Remote support was sort of broken in Update #2. Oops! Decided to fix that and bring over the improvements I was working on back to PC right away. Fixed Oculus Remote support. Reorganized & simplified the first few menu scenes for a better user experience. The old "Wait for Input" and "Automatic" button interaction types are now called "Point & Click" and "Point & Wait". And, in Point & Wait mode, all buttons now show visible timer progression. Fixed the pixelly inner edges for Saturn's rings. Lots of other bug fixes and UX adjustments. I appreciate the patience of all those buying into early access!

  • Update #2 - Comfort mode & Oculus Touch support (Nov 28, 2016) - 29 November 2016

This update mainly focuses on some of the feedback I've received regarding control issues, and comfort issues. The new comfort mode took a lot of time and research to get right, and I've written about the challenges I faced here. I've also thrown in some minor content additions and facelifts here and there. Meanwhile, work continues on bigger content and features that begin arriving in the next couple of updates after this one. Changelog: TOUR: New comfort mode! At the beginning, the experience will ask whether the player is sensitive to motion. The answer to this drives a ton of small changes as well as kicks in the new comfort mode. Note that you won't "lose" anything with either answer - the essence of the experience remains the same either way. Added a new planet! (It's not in our solar system) Made it more clear what you're getting when selecting Short vs Full tour. Eliminated the…

  • Update #1 is out! (June 15, 2016) - 15 June 2016

Changelog: TOUR: New "Closeup" feature. This replaces the Zoom feature. The right trigger on your gamepad or index finger trigger on either hand controller will cause the solar system body in question to come to you. This was done to increase comfort, and to allow the player to naturally inspect the planet or moon with head or hands. Updated Sun & large star appearance with animated surfaces and other improvements. Added auroras to several solar system bodies Improved bumps on solar system bodies for a more natural look and to avoid bump mapping pop-in. Additional dashboard/cockpit polish (still a WIP) Io is now shaped as a slight ellipsoid. Juno spacecraft is now spinning at real rate VIVE: Improved handling of controller disconnects, left/right detection, and overall consistency Improved controller haptics when continuing to next tour stop. CONFIG: For those with unusual monitor confi…

  • Thanks + clarification on VR versions + Monitor support - 26 May 2016

First of all, I'm really grateful for the outpouring of support! This has been a smooth launch so far and am looking forward to delivering more value to all of those that have jumped in so far. So, just a quick note: This app supports Oculus Rift *and* HTC Vive *and* playing on your desktop monitor, BUT right now you need to specifically tell the app what you want to do when you launch it. When you right click on Titans of Space 2.0 in your library, you will see some launch options: Vive --> "Launch App..." Rift --> "Launch on Oculus Rift in Other VR Mode" Monitor (no VR) --> "Launch on Monitor" Please note that if you launch the Vive version while using the Rift, the app will still run, but it is not the intended experience. Scales are different, user interface and instructions are different, etc. Looking forward to bringing you the next update!
