Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. I love lines. There’s so much you can do with a line, and at the same time there’s very little that you need to do to a line in order to make it look good. Linelight came out one year ago today. (They grow up so fast.) I purchased a cake for Linelight, but I have been having difficulty feeding Linelight the cake. I am not sure where to put the cake. If anyone has fed Linelight cake before, please let me know how you got Linelight to eat the cake. I also have a gift for you, dear player: FREE SPEED-RUN UPDATE. (WOOHOO!) If you have been jonesing for a challenge, it is here. I'm actually pretty happy with the update. Time to crack open a can of Linelight! Happy birthday to Linelight, and I hope you enjoy the new speed-runs! Zorro and I will now get back to work on our next game. :)

If you've found yourself stranded, trapped, or otherwise unable to advance, good news: This update will rescue you! Changes: * Fixed bad saving moments in w2 and w4 finales (can't get trapped in those spots anymore) * Attempting to enter a finale from the Main Menu OR World Select will clear all the data within that finale and start you at the beginning as a failsafe * Can't world-warp after the end of a finale anymore * Fixed incorrect star distribution (239/240 and 61/60). Note: if you got all the stars in the game already, there is a patch on the horizon that will correctly award you your "All World 4 Yellow Stars" achievement. :) Thank you to all the vocal people in the community who brought this to my attention. And keep bringing any other issues to my attention! :D

Linelight has a rather promising trailer and, combined with yesterday’s Steam release, that’s rather perked up my Tuesday! It’s billed as a minimalist puzzler where you play as a line segment and scoot back and forth along lines to activate or access new bits of line. It’s a puzzler on rails and, having peeped at the slick stylings of the trailer, I’m curious to see just how complex those puzzles can get. Linelight is a minimalist puzzle game with a very simple premise: Guide a small point of light named Dash along a line. No jumping, no shooting—just movement. It is, as you might expect, deceptively simple.    The visual style and relaxing music and sound effects remind me a bit of Flow , the meditative predator-prey sim from That Game Company.
