- Version 1.1.0.17370 Patch Notes - 31 August 2022
Bug Fixes Fixed bug where pressing the "Steam" button on the Steam Deck caused the gyroscope position to be reset, resulting in inability to take screenshots while using the gyroscope photo mode. Fixed bug that caused certain Restore points to be hidden. The restore points were being saved properly, but were not shown in cases where the number of seconds in the time played was zero (not the TOTAL seconds played, but the seconds of the timestamp). Since the default autosave period was set to 3 minutes, these auto-save entries would always end in zero eg 3:00, 6:00, 9:00 and were being incorrectly hidden. Removed the "Capture" button on Steam Deck since it isn't applicable on this device. It saved the file to the C drive which is not accessible to the user.

- Gyroscope Photo Mode! - 29 August 2022
We're thrilled to announce that we've released a new feature specifically for the Steam Deck version of Manifold Garden. As some of you might recall, Manifold Garden was one of the first titles to be verified for the Steam Deck. We tested the game on the device back in January of this year, and it worked flawlessly without any additional development. Manifold Garden runs beautifully on the Steam Deck. The resolution is great, the edge detection is clean, and the performance is top-notch. It's a great way to play the game. As fans of the device, we wanted to take advantage of some of the new features that the Deck offers. In the latest update (Version 17357), you can use the Steam Deck's gyroscope to look around in Photo Mode. It's a really neat way to experience the visuals of the game. It feels like you're holding a camera and looking at the world of Manifold Garden through its lens. L…

Manifold Garden has been nominated for the Beazley Designs of the Year at the Design Museum in London. The exhibition showcases around 70 curator-selected projects from the previous year, across a variety of disciplines. There are six categories, Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Graphics, Product and Transport. Manifold Garden was nominated for the "Digital" category, and is actually the only game nominated this year. This is a real honor for us and we are absolutely thrilled. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, the Design Museum is temporarily closed. However, there is a People's Choice Award, which is open to the public. You can vote for the project here: https://designmuseum.org/exhibitions/beazley-designs-of-the-year/digital

Here's a talk Arthur gave at SIGGRAPH this year about the rendering tech in Manifold Garden: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VozHerlOQw Sam Blye was the VFX programmer on Manifold Garden. - The Design & Art of Manifold Garden - 23 October 2020
On Friday, October 23rd at 3pm ET/12pm PT, I'm going to do a stream on my twitch channel where I play through older builds of Manifold Garden and discuss how the design and art style of the game evolved over the course of 7 years of development. As a preview, here are some images from the first prototype (then titled "Relativity") that I wrote during Thanksgiving weekend in November 2012. It was meant to be a small practice project to learn the basics of Unity. I thought it would take me no more than 3 months... This is what the game looks like now: As you can see, A LOT changed over the years. Here's a GDC talk I gave back in 2016 about the level design in Manifold Garden: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed2zmmcEryw The stream won't be a lecture like the GDC talk, but instead It'll be much more casual. I'll play through older builds and talk about design decisions I made, why I made th…
