About this game
Apparently an Apprentice Alchemist is a short incremental game about practicing alchemy, conducting questionable research, and somehow building an academic career out of it. Enter your workshop, wield your wand, and transform stones, herbs, gems, and liquids into increasingly advanced materials. Earn Knowledge, improve your alchemy, write research papers, conduct experiments, and work your way from an undergraduate student to a professor. PRACTICE ALCHEMY Move your magic over materials to fill their alchemy gauges and transform them into higher tiers. There are 32 materials across four categories and eight tiers . As your alchemy improves, you'll work with increasingly advanced materials and earn more Knowledge from your discoveries. Travel to specialized locations when your research calls for more minerals, herbs, gems, or liquids. BUILD YOUR OWN APPROACH TO ALCHEMY Spend Knowledge on permanent upgrades that improve the fundamentals of your craft. Increase your magic power, expand your magic radius, extend your research time, improve your material output, and develop techniques such as Initial Magic Surge, Residual Magic, and Combo . Each improvement makes the next run faster, stronger, or just a little more ridiculous. WRITE PAPERS. GET DEGREES. Apparently, repeatedly waving a wand at rocks can count as academic research. Start research papers and complete their objectives during your alchemy runs. Specialize in minerals, herbs, gems, or liquids, or research new techniques that change how your magic works. Complete your research and advance through your academic career: Undergraduate → Bachelor → Master → PhD → Professor CONDUCT EXPERIMENTS A proper researcher needs experiments. Take on short, specialized challenges with their own maps, time limits, and objectives. Complete every stage of an experiment to unlock a permanent new Skill for your normal runs. Throw stones.
