Hi Forgotton Anne fans! In case you missed it, since Forgotton Anne came out, we have been working on Forgotlings, which was recently released! The game is also set in the forgotten lands but this time you play as Fig, as he wakes up as a newly spawned forgotling. The world he faces is however very different from the one Anne had to navigate. The Forgotlings live in tribes, divided and unable to come together against a common threat. Video: a quick introduction to Forgotton Anne. ThroughLine Games' Forgotton Anne plays like a puzzle-platformer, but while we're used to those being depicted in pixel art or perhaps silhouette, this looks more like a classic Miyazaki movie. Kiki's Delivery Service if instead of a broom, Kiki traveled around with a set of jump-enhancing wings. And although it plays like the kind of game that's all about making precise leaps and pulling levers to manipulate pipes and elevators, its heart is in its characters. They're a cast of talking objects every bit as quirky as the collection of chatty teapots and candlesticks in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Forgotton Anne is available on Steam. I wish I could just tell you that Forgotton Anne is brilliant and wrap things up there. I want to leave you to go enjoy it without saying anything else, because that's the way this story should be encountered. It's a game about a lack of knowledge - yours, and Anne's - and how this can be both a curse and a blessing. It's a game about forgetting things and about loss, about remembering what you had and the cost of doing so. Best of all, it's a game which will win you over with its huge amount of heart. - Animated mannequins and industrial skylines in the baroque world of Forgotton Anne - 8 May 2018
When we first wrote about Forgotton Anne last year we called it "an indie game that looks like a Studio Ghibli movie" and now that we've played more of it that's definitely an apt description. It's set in a city where lost items from the real world mysteriously end up—all the misplaced socks and scarves and coats that vanish from basements and under beds suddenly appear here, in the Forgotten Lands.  Something about this transition wakes those objects, giving them sentience and transforming them into Forgotlings like Fig and Bulb, seen below. Fig's a tailor's mannequin with a face on his chest who has become a debonair sword-wielding rake, while Bulb is a lightstand obscured by a hat and cloak, a source of light who transforms himself into a shadowy figure who is central to a rebellion among the Forgotlings.
