- Summit of the Wolf Trailers and Release Date - 13 March 2020
Hi all! I am extremely excited to announce that Summit of the Wolf officially launches on April 21. If you haven't yet, add it to your wishlist today! In addition, trailers are now available on the store page. Since there are two sides to every story, and Summit of the Wolf takes place in both a fantasy world and the real one, I made two trailers--one to showcase each part of the story. As you'll see, they are drastically different in tone. This is intentional! Enjoy, and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thank you for all your support over the years! All the best, Christopher
- Summit of the Wolf GUI Colors - 24 February 2020
Hi all, My beta testers are split right down the middle, so I'm asking on all social media: which color scheme do you prefer for the GUI? Keep in mind that this is a fantasy game intermixed with dark real-world segments that features a young girl as the protagonist. https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F33849275%2Fce09ccd6f082fe3d547c42487f30242c96358fdc.jpg https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F33849275%2F421048be495107495fbc049dc86cef6df6c5790f.jpg Please comment with "pink" or "beige" to help me decide! - Summit of the Wolf: Beta Officially Begins - 10 February 2020
Great news, everyone! Summit of the Wolf is now officially in beta! Stay tuned for an official trailer, along with a specific release date, coming very soon. For now, however, I'd like to finally discuss the real-world segments of the game, which I've been promising to do for several months now. As I've alluded to in the past, Summit of the Wolf takes place both in a fantasy setting and in the real world. While the majority of segments take place in the former environment, the latter is integral to the story. Whereas the fantasy segments could be defined as a "fairytale," the real world segments are most definitely a mystery. What happened to Ophelia, the game's protagonist? How did she end up where she is? Concurrent to this mystery is the next chapter in the overarching metastory that has been set up since the first game in this series, Lifestream. In this chapter of that story, we re…
- Quick Summit of the Wolf Update - 21 January 2020
Hey everyone, This is just a quick update to let you all know that I'm finally feeling well again, and I am back to working on Summit of the Wolf. I am currently 86% done editing the voices for the game. I estimate another week or so of editing. After that, I'll just need an additional week of testing before the game goes into beta! Summit of the Wolf is still on-track for a Spring release. I'll post a more detailed update at the start of February! Cheers, Christopher
- Summit of the Wolf: December Update - 9 December 2019
Hi all, I apologize for the lack of news this past month. Some may have noticed that I've been largely absent on all social media. Don't worry, development on Summit of the Wolf continues, but it's been a rough month. As a result, I've unfortunately had little-to-no time to work on the game. What follows is a bit of a delve into my personal life, which you can read if you care to know. For those who wish to jump ahead to game-related news, skip the italicized paragraph below. At the start of November, I suffered a severe ear infection and could not hear out of one ear as a result. This made doing audio work on the game impossible, so I had to wait for it to heal. By the time it healed, there was an unexpected death in the family, which hit me hard. I am still recovering from that death, and now I have the flu on top of it. As a result of all this, Summit of the Wolf is unfortunately abo…
- Summit of the Wolf: Ilea Poh - 5 November 2019
It is time for the fifth highlight of the upcoming Summit of the Wolf. This month, I will discuss the second of the companions who will join you during your quest: a pixie toddler named Ilea Poh. But before I do that, I'd like to update you all on the status of the game's development. Summit of the Wolf is officially in a stable beta state! Currently, I am editing the voice recordings of thousands of lines of dialog for the game. As this is a solo project, this process will take another 2-3 weeks. After that, a closed beta testing period will begin. Barring any unforeseen issues, I estimate the game to be ready to launch early February 2020! And now, on to little Ilea Poh... Ilea is shy but sweet. From the small fishing village of Summerway, Ilea lived an uneventful life with her mother, Charlotte, who served as protector of the village from outside threats. This all changed when, one d…
- Summit of the Wolf: Roluk - 4 October 2019
It is time for the fourth highlight of the upcoming Summit of the Wolf. This month, I will discuss one of the companions who will join you during your quest: a cion outcast named Roluk. Roluk is a bit of a loner. Once, he was an important figure among his people in Khisiko Village, the cion home in Circlewood Forest. Roluk was elected Guard Supreme, which means that he was in charge of protecting the village from outside threats. But one day, while Roluk was visiting the village blacksmith, a young, homeless boy ran into the shop and attempted to steal an acorn--a delicacy among the cion people. The blacksmith caught the boy and, in anger, went to strike him. Roluk, feeling a surge of compassion, interceded. "The boy is hungry," Roluk insisted. "He meant no harm." The blacksmith insisted that the boy must be punished and moved forward to do so, causing Roluk to attack him. The fight end…
- Summit of the Wolf: The Spring Eagles - 3 September 2019
It is time for the third highlight of the upcoming Summit of the Wolf. This month, I will discuss another of the races you will encounter in the game, the spring eagles. Spring eagles are a noble and highly intelligent race that suppresses all emotion. Cold and xenophobic, they care only for their own kind and not the outside world. Spring eagles do not speak but instead posses a form of telepathy, through which they communicate among themselves and to others. This manifests to outsiders as a faint whisper that seems to emanate from one’s inner ear. Though not outright aggressive, they are highly territorial and will attack if provoked. The spring eagles were once split into dozens of clans, all fighting amongst one another in warfare over their land. This ended when one particular spring eagle, a young hero named Coeus, taught the clans the Five Pillars of Intelligence and convinced ev…
- Summit of the Wolf: The Cions - 2 August 2019
This is the second highlight of the upcoming Summit of the Wolf. This month, I will discuss one of the many races you will encounter in the game, the cions. Cions are large, primitive bipedal creatures that live as one with the land. Honorable and dignified, they are a peaceful people who are sometimes preyed upon by greedy pixie hunters that wish to sell their valuable antlers, making the cions suspicious of outsiders. Cions are led by the Tribe Elder, the oldest cion in the village. He makes decisions on behalf of all his people, though it is said that no cion has ever disagreed with its kinsfolk. Vegetarians by nature, cions like to eat ripe gwesha fruit and roasted acorn stew. They like the warmth and can always be found close to an active campfire--even at the height of summer. Cion culture supports a barter system, and fair and equal trade is important to them. Cions are a highly…
- Summit of the Wolf: Ophelia Kethagee - 1 July 2019
From this point forward, at the start of a new month, I’ll be highlighting one aspect of the upcoming Summit of the Wolf. This month, it’s the protagonist, Ophelia Kethagee, whose father, Peter, was first mentioned way back in a newspaper article in Lifestream. Ophelia Kethagee is a 12-year old girl who loves nature and lives vicariously through fantasy novels. She has a fascination with strong female warriors and fantasizes about going on adventures with sword-fighting, archery, and battles against evil wrongdoers. She views herself as an outcast and doesn't fit in with her peers at school, since she’s more interested in being outdoors than ogling over boys, studying history books, and learning algebra. When Ophelia wakes up one morning in the realm of Reneea, she is told she must go on a journey to the Summit of the Wolf, where she will fulfill her destiny. At first, she’s frightened;…
