- Alone In The Dark review: a neatly crafted reboot that seems afraid to step into the unknown - 19 March 2024
Detective Edward Carnby looks very different these days, and not only because he’s made of a lot more polygons. Gone are the professorial waistcoat and bow tie of his angular 1992 incarnation, replaced instead by the grubby suit of a life-bruised 1930s noir PI, complete with hipflask of brandy for when the stress of being unaccompanied with the lights out gets too much. Carnby isn’t the only one who’s transformed in this reboot of Alone in the Dark , the classic survival horror avant la lettre , either. Veterans will find plenty of callbacks and familiar names as they poke around its Louisiana manor house – talk of the Pregzt Shipping Company might raise an eyebrow, for instance, as may the gnarled tree filling much of the conservatory. But like these, everything here is remixed, rewritten, relocated. Indeed, Decerto house is no longer empty but a ‘home for the mentally fatigued’, while…

- Alone in the Dark sees another delay as it moves from chilly January into spring 2024 - 7 December 2023
THQ Nordic has announced it has moved the release of Alone in the Dark into March. Originally slated for an October 2023 release, the Pieces Interactive-developerd game was moved to January 15, 2024 , to avoid an overcrowded month. The extra time, according to the publisher, would also be used for polishing the game. The reason for the delay this time is that the "Christmas season would have been filled with stress and anything but a jolly time" for them." for the developers, according to THQ Nordic. Therefore, Alone in the Dark will instead arrive on March 20, 2024 - the second day of spring. Read more

- THQ Nordic held a Q&A with 8chan, a website de-listed from Google for hosting suspected child porn - 26 February 2019
“We’re doing an 8chan AMA and we have no idea why,” announced THQ Nordic on their Twitter account earlier this evening. If you’re not aware, 8chan is an imageboard website which has been de-listed from Google search results for hosting “suspected child abuse content,” and which is associated with Swatting and Gamergate. THQ Nordic’s marketing director has since apologised and claimed ignorance, but both are hard to believe. (more…)
- THQ Nordic buy Alone In The Dark and Act Of War series, might consider sequels - 19 September 2018
Continuing to hoover up every neglected video game series that’s remembered half-fondly, THQ Nordic today announced they’re buying the rights to horror series Alone In The Dark and Eugen’s real-time strategy ’em up Act Of War. These two had been owned by The Creature Wearing The Skin Of Atari – who largely seem poor carers for old series, while The Creature Wearing The Skin Of THQ are actually quite decent. THQ Nordic haven’t formally confirmed new sequels in either series, to be clear, but they do say they’ll think about it. (more…)
